Passenger Causes Forced Removal After Passing Gas On American Airlines Flight

charlottes-first-commercial-flight-just-took-off-to-cubaSomeone forced everyone off of an American Airlines flight yesterday for “passing gas”, according to Raleigh’s WNCN.

After several passengers became ill with nausea and headaches, the pilot landed the plane early yesterday afternoon.

The flight crew then began removing the passengers. Authorities soon determined that one of the passengers had “passed gas” in such a way that every other passenger on the plane was affected.

Officials with the Raleigh-Durham International Airport have not identified the flight, where it was from or where it was headed.

This is an important lesson to us all – make sure to watch what you eat before boarding a flight, and always keep a bottle of Gas X in your carry on!

UPDATE 7/17/2017 11:17am:

American Airlines officials announced that one of their planes did have an odor issue but denied it was because of “passed gas.”

One of their spokesmen, Ross Feinstein, released the following statement:

“We did have an aircraft from Charlotte to RDU this afternoon, that landed at 2:19 p.m. ET, and arrived the gate at 2:21 p.m. ET, that is currently out of service for an actual mechanical issue – and odor in the cabin. But It is not due to “passed gas” as mentioned.”

Why is American Airlines now trying to deny the fart?

Why won’t they admit where this “odor in the cabin” came from?

Perhaps it was one of the American Airline employees…maybe even the captain?

What are your thoughts?

Charlotte Now Ranks Among The Top 10 Most Attractive Real Estate Markets In America

0

charlotte-most-attractive-real-estate-markets-in-americaAccording to a recent report by PwC and the Urban Land Institute, Charlotte is now the ninth-most attractive real estate market in America.

Charlotte’s rapidly growing population, strong construction presence, and booming economy are the main factors that led to the ranking.

The report notes that, “The largest city in North Carolina has been one of the top 18-hour cities in the Emerging Trends survey over the past two years, with survey respondents attracted to employment growth that has been distributed over multiple industries. Charlotte has been growing as the financial market hub for the Southeast and is benefiting from a growing airport activity. The market has also been a leader in infill development, with the downtown area seeing an increase in residential options and more development in a number of inner-ring suburban sites.”

We now have some truly impressive developments in the works, including a new 5 million square foot building on the old Charlotte Observer site (which will become the largest building in uptown), the $350 million film studio in York County, our new 1,400 acre ‘River District’, a brand new 180 acre village in North Charlotte, and dozens of other high-rises, mid-rises, and mixed-use developments all across our region.

In the survey, ULI advised real estate investors to seek out thriving secondary markets, such as Charlotte, instead of the biggest markets (NYC, LA, Chicago, etc) in order to find more value in investments: “These secondary markets boast lower costs of living—particularly in housing—and strong growth potential.”

The Queen City’s #9 ranking easily beat out several of its rival cities; including Denver (#11), Atlanta (#15), Tampa (#20), and Charleston (#31). Austin came in at #1 and Dallas was ranked #2 on ULI’s 2017 ranking.

What do you think about Charlotte’s growth potential?

180,000 Gallons Of Sewage Spilled in Charlotte After Main Line Broke

0

Charlotte just witnessed its 3rd largest sewage spill in the cities history after a main sewer line broke and dumped over 180,000 gallons of sewage water into the Catawba River basin.

According to the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation, “The Charlotte Water sewer main break spilled throughout the day near 700 Farmhurst Dr (Charlotte, close to exit 4 on I-77), entering Kings Branch, followed by Sugar Creek and the mainstem Catawba River in South Carolina soon after.”

charlottes-3rd-largest-sewage-spill

The Riverkeepers also recommended residents south of the spill to avoid the waterways downstream of the spill until water tests come back safe. “We recommend NOT recreating immediately downstream of Sugar Creek’s confluence with the river,” the foundation posted to Facebook. “This confluence is downstream of Rock Hill’s Riverwalk (so a Lake Wylie to Riverwalk paddle is safe), but the new Catawba Indian launch and other stretches around access points downstream (i.e., Landsford Canal, Highway 9) could be affected. These are particularly difficult situations when they occur on weekends given that bacteria sampling takes 24 hours to perform.”

It’s difficult to say when the water will be safe again, the Riverkeepers say that people should be wary for the rest of the weekend.

Sink Hole Formed Under Charlotte Road

sink-hole-formed-in-charlotteYesterday in North Charlotte, a large chunk of David Cox Rd. was swallowed up by an underground sinkhole.

The sinkhole was caused by the rupture of an underground water main. Road crews are were will hopefully finish up repairs to the road by the end of the day today after the water main is repaired.

The sinkhole formed underneath the eastbound lane of David Cox Road near West Sugar Creek Road.

sinkhole-in-charlotte

Last summer, a far larger sinkhole formed underneath Independence Blvd., which shut down traffic for over a day.

As our city’s infrastructure continues to age, water main breaks and sink holes will continue to happen with greater regularity. Charlotte Water has stated that water leak repairs have already risen by 27% over the last 3 years.

At this point, they say they can only respond to underground breaks once surface water is detected.

CMPD Releases Bodycam Footage Showing Shooting Of Man Having ‘Psychotic Episode’

0

CMPD has just released the bodycam footage showing the fatal shooting by an officer of a 25-year-old man who they said was having a mental breakdown and was said to have aimed gun at an officer.

Mecklenburg County District Attorney R. Andrew Murray ruled last week (read the DA’s entire report here) that Officer Brian Walsh’s use of deadly force against Laroslav Mosiiuk on March 8th was “justified.”

On 8 March 2017, at approximately 1:00 pm, Walsh and Officer Michael Dezenzo responded to a suicide threat on Justice Ave.

“[According to Tabaka] Mosiiuk was acting irrationally, had not slept in days and was retrieving a rifle,” authorities noted in their statement. “She told the 911 operator that her brother was screaming that he ‘didn’t want to live.'”

On arrival, Dezenzo walked onto the porch and knocked on the door to the house, identifying himself as being with the police, but as soon as he notices a gun in Mosiiuk’s hands, he retreats and yells “Get back! Get back! He had a long gun!”

After Dezenzo yells and runs away, Walsh also runs, taking cover behind a police vehicle.

Before shots were fired, you can hear the mother saying “please don’t shoot him” (please don’t shoot him).

Walsh then shoots at Mosiiuk in the back.

He told investigators that he didn’t give Mosiiuk “a verbal warning to drop the gun” before he fired because he was “afforded no time.”

The family is now in the process of filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
