A major hot dog distributor, Marathon Enterprises Inc., has just recalled over 7 million pounds of hot dogs and sausages that may contain bone fragments, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The recalled items, including both beef, pork, and mixed hot dogs, as well as sausages have a produced date from March 17 through July 4, and an establishment number “EST. 8854” inside the USDA mark of inspection. (View Labels)
Several callers into the FSIS hotline stated that they were finding fragments of bone in their hotdogs, and one consumer sustained an oral injury from eating one of the now-recalled hot dogs.
