5 Common Challenges You Will Face in Customer Service

0

Business operations are inherently challenging, made more difficult by a fluctuating market, an unstable economy, or unhappy customers. Working with people is never easy. No matter how hard you try or how strong your focus, you will never be able to meet everyone’s expectations or provide 100% satisfaction in every single transaction. Customers can be moody, choosing to take their frustrations out on your team who did exactly what was asked or provided a service that would have wowed your competitors. As a business owner, you can’t depend on good customers to keep your reputation going. These are some of the biggest customer service challenges you will face along the way, along with some ideas of how to conquer them successfully.

Challenge #1: Serving More Than Once Customer at a Time

For what it’s worth, everyone wants to feel that their concerns at the most pressing. Today’s consumers are very self-serving, wanting their needs met on their timeframe and in a way that lives up to their expectations (however unrealistic those may be). Multitasking with consumers is always a challenge, but when each consumer has a very self-oriented approach for how you handle problems, you need to quickly figure out a solution. First and foremost, make sure you have a communication system that can handle the volume of customers you serve. Ooma cloud phones are a cloud-based phone system that will transform your company’s communication options. Once you have this settled, you need to address how you respond to each customer. Learn the nuances of putting a customer on hold. Explain your desire to settle the issue, but that you need to research the issue. Always ask if a brief hold would be okay. Once they agree, use this time to quickly respond to another consumer’s needs.

Challenge #2: Dealing With Angry Customers

If there is one thing that is common across all customer service departments in industries around the world, it’s the truth that angry customers exist. Angry seems like such a gentle word when faced with an irate customer that has no control over the tone and decibel of his or her voice. This is perhaps one of the most difficult things to address, and you will find that everyone has an opinion on how to resolve and deescalate the situation. Since there are numerous reasons why a customer may be furious, the best place to start in resolution is through the employee. It is vital that you remain calm, no matter what the individual is saying to you. The customer isn’t really mad at you, but as the representative of the company, there is no other place to direct these angry emotions. Remind yourself that the customer is simply venting and adjust your perspective accordingly. As hard as it is, listen carefully to the heart of the problem being conveyed so your response is more targeted to a solution once the rant is over.

Challenge #3: Being Forced to Issue a Response

You won’t always be able to solve a situation as soon as a customer reveals a problem, but for many customers, there is an expectation of instant results. While you sincerely want to help them, you may not have enough details or information to take action or you aren’t sure of what an appropriate response would be. Don’t feel pressured or rushed into resolution. You can address the customer by saying “I want to give your concern the attention that it needs, and I need to do a little research to provide the best resolution. Would it be alright if I called you back or emailed you this afternoon?” When you can convey that you are taking your time to give the customer your best effort, they are generally more willing to be patient.

Challenge #4: Not Having a Solution for the Problem

Even the most skilled customer service representative will have days when there isn’t an obvious answer to a problem. You aren’t always going to have the answer, and you need to recognize that humility in admitting this will go a long way in solving the problem. You don’t want to convey this small detail to the customer, but you can play off the delay as a need to finalize certain details or aspects of the situation by consulting your manager. Giving yourself permission to not know something and getting your customer to give you some time lets you find a real solution from someone who knows. You ruin your credibility and the company’s reputation when you simply try to fake an answer to the problem.

Challenge #5: Dealing With a Product Defect

You never want to admit that a product or service that comes from your company is defective, and if you aren’t careful in how you phrase your responses, a customer may feel misled or tricked into buying a product. Customers don’t want to hear the word ‘no’ or feel that they wasted their money on something that isn’t of any use to them. Respond to customers with alternative product options if possible, warranty replacements, or informing them of new developments that are in the works. Mentioning that you are glad they brought this to your attention and that you can add it to other feedback from concerned consumers may have the customer feeling like they did your company a favor.

You need a sharp eye for detail, intuition, and patience when riding the potential roller coaster of customer satisfaction. Knowing these challenges and practicing how to face them can improve your chances of providing a resolution that meets everyone’s approval.

Do it like a Pro – 5 Tips to succeed in Japanese Business.

0

You are at your wit’s end, everybody in the office is a nuisance, and your neighbours are just the worst. These are familiar scenarios happening across the world. Self-employment and entrepreneurship are the most sort after career choices, with new companies springing up each day. Japan is one of the markets you should look at if you aspire to be an investor. The market is well advanced that virtual currency is as good as legal tender. For example, you can use bitcoin to top up your casino wallet at Casimaru.com.

The island nation is currently the third-largest economy in the world. So wealthy is this country that some of its regional economies have GDPs higher than some European nations. For example, the Kanto prefecture has a GDP greater than Brazil, with Kanto at 2.4 billion dollars against 2.3 billion. Now that you have all the numbers, how do you make it in business?

Discover the market.

Japan is rich in culture and tradition. Some of those practices are still in force today and influence how you conduct business. Therefore, before starting a venture in this economic paradise, do your due diligence to identify the opportunities available. Avoid the temptation to go full gung-ho. Take time to survey the competition, discover how buyers relate with products and then execute. A good entry strategy will avoid you having future migraines.

Online is where it is all happening.

You should know that 90% of the country has internet access. Consequently, the most successful businesses are all online. However, it goes beyond owning a domain. The Japanese are keen on these three things:

  • Who is the owner?

You have to put the CEO’s picture on the website. That is the only way that your potential customers feel an attachment to your brand. Knowing there is someone accountable goes a long way to building brand loyalty.

  • Local content.

Although your website is doing well in other markets, that may not be the case in Japan. Do not use cheap translating software for your content. Hire a local copywriter to help you create content for your local page. The more you exhibit nativity, the better your chances at success.

  • Give them the answers.

You may think having an FAQ section is for suckers. Oh! How wrong you are. The Japanese are one of the most curious human beings. Ensure that you provide helpful and necessary information on your website to build trust. Honesty is a cardinal rule in this society. Therefore, do not offer empty promises.

Hire locally.

You are the inventor of the latest gadget, but not everyone will gravitate to it the same. In hiring a local expert, you are investing in first-hand knowledge of the market. Locals are known for their polite and mild temperament. Without an expert, some of the non-verbal cues you receive may give you the wrong idea. For example, the executive may have nodded, indicating a yes, when he actually meant no.

The one-month stay will totally be worth it.

Some investors tend to be very thrifty in the beginning. Understandably, starting a business from scratch can cost a lot of money. However, before committing your money, it is advisable to stay in the country for a while. Exposure to the local customs and traditions will make your resettlement much easier. Additionally, you can interact with potential customers in informal settings making their feedback more authentic. Finally, familiarising yourself with the language will also show your commitment as a solid investor.

Think a decade or more.

The Japanese market is not a passing fad. The government is continuously legislating and investing in different sectors to promote foreign investments. Each year, legislators are proposing new laws, and industrial complexes are opening their doors to you. For example, you can get your residency permit in a year if you are a high-skill professional. Before this, the process took five years.

Additionally, having a ten-year investment plan is easier to sell to potential partners in the market. They will be more vested in seeing you succeed and support you more readily. It does not mean that you cannot succeed as a short-term investor. However, your partner pool is smaller than that of a long-term investor.

Conclusion

Kudos for deciding on becoming an investor. There are several markets to invest in, but Japan is by far the most promising. The above tips are your head-start to the millions that await.

Elderly Couple In Ormond Beach Lose $16,000 To Scammers

0

Phone calls from families and friends are welcome because these are people you trust. However, because you have to provide your number on public forms – like when you apply for a credit card, your number may get into the hands of telemarketers. There are also several ways scammers get your number, such as when you enter contests or fill a lot of surveys.

Such is the story as authorities report that an elderly couple in Ormond Beach was scammed of $16,000 in cash after an unknown caller impersonated their granddaughter, claiming to have been involved in an accident and needing desperate help.

The impersonator told the couple, who have memory issues, that she had been in an accident, in jail with injuries, and needed bail. Police believe that a second suspect was involved in the scam. The couple recalled that a second individual claiming to be a lawyer urged the couple to make arrangements to free their granddaughter. The scammers then informed the couple that a courier would come to pick up the money.

Quick to help their loved one in need, the ninety-year-old couple drove to the bank and withdrew $16,000. Apparently, upon confirming that the grandparents had the money, the scammers devised an elaborate plan to get the money with minimal margin for incrimination.

Recounting the incident, Ted Teschner, their son-in-law, said the scammers held his father-in-law’s attention on the phone and directed his mother-in-law to walk down the driveway. There, she handed over the money to a courier waiting in a vehicle.

While the grandmother did not get a good description of the suspect, she did recall that the suspect was a stout white female in a gray or silver sedan. A review of surveillance cameras in the area did not yield actionable information to the police.

Upon getting the money, the scammers terminated the call. Desperate to confirm that their granddaughter was safe, the couple called her number. Only then did they discover that she was safe in North Carolina.

Teschner says he was sure the scam was intentional, but he was more concerned for the safety of the elderly couple. Since the scammers had the barefaced audacity to show up to their home, he worries they could return for more nefarious acts.

“They could have hurt them. They could have gone in the house and taken one hostage, you know? They could come back today and do that same thing. It is a bit frightening.”

North Carolina law enforcement tells residents to be wary of unknown callers, especially when these callers demand money over the phone. Scammers reportedly go to great lengths in executing phone scams. However, these individuals are not infallible to technology. Residents can choose who calls their phones. Better still, they can uncover the identity and location of the unknown caller using a reverse phone search. Armed with this information, one can block or confront the scammer when they call.

What Does a Cardiac Rehab Program Involve?

0

Cardiac problems are no joke…

Cardiac issues are huge conditions that can wreak havoc on the organism, and even leave long-lasting consequences, when they are not fatal. They have taken the lives of many, including several famous people, amongst them the recent demise of worldwide famous rapper DMX, a man known for his strong lyrics, lifelong resilience, and overall tough character. In other words, no one is immune from cardiac problems and other diseases of the heart. For those that survive it’s important to maintain a healthy attitude and lifestyle, that’s why it’s critical to understand what a cardiac rehab program is.

What is a Cardiac Rehab Program?

According to the AHA (American Heart Association), cardiac rehab program is : “Cardiac rehab is a medically supervised program designed to improve your cardiovascular health if you have experienced heart attack, heart failure, angioplasty or heart surgery. “ It consists of three pillars:

  • Exercise Counselling and Training
  • Education
  • Counselling

The first item involves adequateing the wounded heart in order to strengthen it, and reduce the chances of another cardiac inconvenient, since exercise bestows the heart a higher blood pressure tolerance, and induces better overall vascularization.

The second concept consists of acquiring education on the circulatory system. This encompasses proper nutrition (laying off salts, excessive sugar, and fats), knowing heart attack/distress symptoms, as well as recognizing the signs of a possible stroke.

Another important aspect, and the final piece of Cardiac Rehab Therapy, is the psychological one. Counselling can do wonders to a person’s all-around well-being, and helps them cope with stress. The former being the most notorious player in heart issues.

The four phases of a cardiac rehabilitation program

Acute Phase:

In this part of the cardiac rehabilitation program, you will be taught the risk factors. This will enable you to diminish and ultimately control them more efficiently. Alongside the educational aspect of rehab, you are also going to undergo a specific set of key exercises to train your body. These will be supervised by health professionals to ensure that they are up to par with your level and your goals. After this stage, a discharge plan will be created by a professional. This will enhance your chances of success outside the institution and allow you to move into outpatient care.

Subacute Phase:

In this phase, the assigned caretaker supervises the body’s reaction to the planned methodology and curriculum. This phase normally takes three to six weeks. It will give the patient the needed tools and methods to start performing actions on their own. The ultimate objective of this phase is to substantially move the patient towards overall independence. This is a transition phase made to promote self-sufficiency after the cardiac episode.

If someone close to you needs cardiac rehabilitation, please contact healthcare professionals here: www.everestrehab.com.

Intensive Outpatient Therapy

During this phase, exercise intensity is boosted in order to strengthen muscle tissue. In this part of the process, the caretaker professional will examine the patient for a dedicated time period of three to four weeks. This step will likely be reinforced with group meetings and interactive therapy with other patients —  note that during pandemic circumstances have changed due to the danger of potential exposure to the COVID virus. By now, patients should be competent enough to monitor their own heart rate, andl bodily response to exercise without much (if any) assistance. Also, a key factor of this critical period is that the patient is galvanized towards full independence. They should be able to perform their exercises. They should also have a detailed platform on how to deal with the aftermath of their episode and possible cardiac recurrence. The healthcare professional’s duty in this phase is to help overcome plateau situations that might occur while leveling up the intensity. Patients are also likely to be tested regularly to evaluate their heart’s response to resistance training.

Some of the exercises might include:

  • Six-minute walk tests.
  • Timed up and go test (getting up from a chair, walking a short distance, and sitting once more.)
  • Biking.
  • Rowing.
  • Walking on a treadmill.
  • Overall strength and flexibility exercises.

Independent Ongoing Conditioning to Maintain Optimal Cardiac Health

If the patient has followed therapy protocol thoroughly, they will transcend onto the fourth and final phase of the program. Here a person will  graduate and need to operate fully independent. They will have the know-how, education and conditioning to perform all manner of tasks as well as manage risk-factors. Professional healthcare surveillance and assistance will be sporadic at best.

You’re not Out Of The Woods Yet

More than 735,000 people in the US have heart attacks or heart related issues nearly. Of those, more than 12,000 die— and over 300,000 will have a second one in that same year. In other words, if you had a heart attack and survived, chances are that in due time you’ll experience another. Heart attacks are recurrent. People with coronary disease have a 50% chance of regular infractions or other episodes. Therapy and Rehab programs decrease these odds while also fomenting a healthier lifestyle that promotes awareness and control.

Why An Internship Is A Great Career Move

0

Even for graduate job offers, many employers want to see what other qualification you have apart from your degree. Gone are the days when good grades are enough to land you a job. The current job market puts great value on relevant work experience

There’s stiff competition for jobs across the globe, so employers have to find a way of filtering thousands of applicants and picking only the best candidates to fill vacancies in their institutions. One filter they’re using is experience through internships. Read on to discover why taking an internship is a good step in your career.

  1. To Apply Classroom Knowledge

You certainly master a lot of theoretical concepts in class. However, you have to be able to apply them in real-life scenarios as well since that’s what they’re meant for. A relevant internship gives you the opportunity to practice doing just that.

For instance, say you’re a civil engineering student and you’ve taken lessons on how to design open channel drainage systems. An internship with a storm water management company will expose you to data such as rainfall amounts, soil types, and land slope, which you have to scientifically analyze so as to come up with the optimal channel cross section.

  1. To Connect With Industry Professionals

Taking an internship also helps you get started in establishing relationships with relevant professionals in your industry. That’s what people call ‘networking.’ It’s such a critical component of your career since it’s the same people you make connections with now who can give you a job later on.

As such, you should network in a smart and calculated manner. If you’ve finished an accounting course and your interest is working in the banking industry, look for an internship in a bank and start cultivating relationships with bankers.

Similarly, if you’re eyeing government employment, consider government internship options and connect with relevant people in government offices. Did you know that the federal government is the biggest employer in the US? That’s why interning in a government office sets you up for great opportunities.

  1. To Further Define Your Interests

Given that change is constant, certain circumstances and factors may affect your current career goals. At some point, you may end up changing your mind about what you want to achieve as a professional.

For example, you’ve always dreamed of working in road construction, so when it comes time to look for an internship, you go with a company specializing in that area. However, three months down the road, your ideologies begin to shift. There’s no denying that many people find road construction jobs interesting, but after trying them out, you realize that they don’t bring you the satisfaction you expected them to. Or perhaps there are aspects about them that you end up disliking, such as travelling to remote road construction sites on the daily.

If that’s the case, for your next internship, you can take a different route and try building design instead. Basically, internships allow you to determine what works for you and what doesn’t.

  1. To Better Understand An Industry

Classroom lessons are insufficient when it comes to knowing the ins and outs of the industry you’re in. You also have to be in the field to learn other things you may not find in your books.

A typical course may teach you how to make a balance sheet. However, you may encounter numerous tasks and issues before and after balancing accounts. An internship fills you in on the actual process of preparing balance sheets. In class, it may take you only an hour to complete one. In a real-life setting, it may take you two to four weeks to complete a similar balance sheet due to the long process of gathering data and meetings with the client.

  1. To Get An Idea Of Organizational Culture

The workplace is highly dynamic. It’s not enough to have a broad knowledge of technical concepts if you want to survive in a company.

Every workplace has its unique way of doing things. Organizations built around physical fitness may require you to work on standing desks and use the workplace gym at least once a day. Others may require you to go on seemingly endless lunch meetings with clients and partners. And on top of that, you have to deal with office politics. An internship gives you a good introduction to such aspects of work culture.

  1. To Build Your Resume

As stated earlier, most of today’s entry-level jobs require some sort of professional experience. Taking an internship is the best way to prove to potential employers that you have relevant professional training in your area of expertise.

By adding the details of what you did during internships to your resume, you stand a better chance of getting employed compared to another candidate with only their degree to boast.

  1. To Get Professional Criticism

Having a college tutor assess how well you do on school tests is no doubt a great way to evaluate your grasp of the course content. However, it would be even better to have professionals in the field check your progress, which is what happens in internships. You can expect their feedback to be more critical as it’s based on real work.

Your final rating in the eyes of professionals will give you a clear indication of what you need to work and improve on. It may be that your technical skills are nearly 100% but your interpersonal skills lag behind at 20%. That’s the area you need to put more effort into for you to climb up your career ladder.

  1. To Start Enjoying The Fruits Of Your Labor

The thought of spending years in school and not earning a single cent despite all your efforts may disturb you, as it does many individuals. Fortunately, you can start getting paid when you take an internship.

But take note that not all internship programs come with monetary rewards. You’re certainly lucky if you land one that pays. If you decide to go for an unpaid internship, however, be sure that you’ll earn significant college credits and good grades. Those will help you get a high-earning job once you’ve graduated.

  1. To Transition Into Real Employment

Last but not the least, the firm you work for as an intern may consider you for a full-time position. That’s a dream come true for a lot of people.

Many firms have formed the habit of finding prospective full-time employees by offering internship positions. This way, they’re able to assess your worth without making big financial commitments in terms of a job offer. If you impress your employer as an intern, you stand a high chance of working for them full-time.

Conclusion

Put your best foot forward and make your internship program count. College credits, good grades, and money are all good reasons to get an internship. But what’s even more important is the ability to get a deeper insight into your specific industry and make connections with people who matter.

116-year-old Charlotte resident Hester Ford, the oldest living person in America, has just died with her loved ones at her side.

According to a statement from Ford’s grandaughter, Tanisha Patterson-Powe, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother Hester McCardell Ford today. She was a pillar and stalwart to our family and provided much needed love, support and understanding to us all. She was the seed that sprouted leaves and branches which is now our family. God saw fit to make her the matriarch of our family and blessed us to be her caretakers and recipients of her legacy.”

Ford was born on August 15, 1904, in Lancaster, South Carolina and first moved to the Queen City in 1953 after being born and raised in Lancaster County, South Carolina. She raised 12 children and has helped to look after 58 grandchildren and at least 120 great-great grandchildren over the years.

Even though she was over 100 years young, she still has an incredible memory. A few Years ago, WBTV posted a video of Ford reciting Psalm 23 completely from memory. The video quickly went viral and has now been viewed over 6.6 million times;

How to Teach Your Kids Basic Cybersecurity Measures

0

Modern kids are so fluent with technologies that it may seem they were born with a smartphone in their hands.  At a young age, it’s natural that children want to play and perceive the Internet as the treasure box with games and entertaining web applications like Tik Tok or Youtube for kids.

Unfortunately, there’s not only fun on the Internet, as with the easy access to many resources, comes threats like infecting a computer with malware and cyberbullying and more “adult stuff” like identity theft, ransomware, or money fraud. Children can fall easy victims for villains due to the young age and absence of understanding of how cybercrime works.

While it’s highly recommended to set up parental control limiting certain resources and monitor online activity and you definitely should take these measures, your kids are still exposed to online risks outside home and school. In addition to setting up your parental controls, it’s worth researching VPN providers and investing in a VPN, especially if your child uses a device away from home. That is why it’s your responsibility to teach them how to protect themselves in the web. Here’s how you can do it:

Educate

The sooner you start talking with your kids about cybersecurity, the better because this way your kids will be prepared and avoid the risks. Start with explaining the basics of the Internet, why they should not believe everyone they met on the internet. Here are the most important aspects to focus on:

  • What cybersecurity is and why it’s important
  • Why people use passwords
  • How to share content safely
  • Why it’s not recommended to share personal information like physical address, phone numbers, and emails with people you do not know
  • What it’s critical to make backups
  • Why malware is dangerous, how it works and how to avoid it.

Make it simple

Keep in mind that all the information should be adapted to the age. The younger is your kid, the more simplified explanations you need to choose. This way, it will be easier to grasp new terms and understand how everything is working. Turn the learning process into entertainment by using the “word of the day” techniques and make use of online materials like videos and simple games to make it easier.

Start with yourself

Lead by example and increase your knowledge in the personal protection field by subscribing to cybersecurity news, read books and educational videos available for free to know more about the potential pitfalls and ways how to avoid them to later share your knowledge with your kids. Be on guard of cybersecurity in your family by timely updating OS, and its components to the latest version, download only licensed software from trusted providers and install the malware protection that would work as a scanner to detect and block viruses and firewall to filter the unwanted traffic. Also, always set strong passwords, and lock the devices that are not in use. Children observe their parents and learn from them, so when you will treat the security seriously, they will follow your example.

Agree on the rules

Make sure to set the rules when it comes to cybersecurity like always asking for permission before using any new application, inform parents when they see something unusual like a pop-up in the game or misclicks that trigger a download, or suspicious messages they receive from strangers.

Pro tip: To make these rules working, make sure to establish trust with your kid, and always praise the proper behavior, otherwise when children are afraid to be punished by doing something wrong, they will be trying to hide their wrong actions.

Teaching your kids the basics of safe behavior on the Internet is one of the important steps in preparing for adult life. Luckily, today the number of learning resources adapted for children is increasing including educational programs, websites, and platforms, thus you have more chances to help them develop security awareness and protect from online threats.
