This Rock Hill Woman Bought Strangers Gifts And Started A Pay-It-Forward Movement

0

A Rock Hill woman has just started a chain reaction of giving when she felt God call her to go to Sam’s Club and buy strangers gifts.

Janice Jones, a 65-year-old who recently retired from Duke Energy, felt called to the Hoover family when they were shopping in Sam’s Club. At first, Lacy Hoover tried to decline the charity, but Janice insisted, and ended up buying the family a new tv, groceries, and even a gift card.

The Hoover family was so moved by the random act of kindness that they decided to return to the same store the next day and buy items for 50 other families;

Several of the Sam’s workers and onlookers were so touched by the love and kindness that they even began to hug eachother, and many said they also wanted to do random acts of kindness of their own.

Janice Jones leads a small ministry in downtown Rock Hill called Breakthrough Deliverance Ministries with a simple mission of helping whoever God leads them to.

She plans on continuing to give anything she has to wherever she is led.

Please share this story to encourage others to give;

Franklin Graham Just Donated 2 Ambulances To Israel To Save Both Jewish and Muslim Lives

0

FranklinGrahamAmbulancesThe Graham family has always had a deep love for the nation of Israel and for all people in crisis, and today, the city of Charlotte witnessed this love in action.

This morning at the Billy Graham Library, The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse held a dedication ceremony for 2 state-of-the-art and fully stocked ambulances that have been donated to a ministry called Heart to Heart Israel. The ministry works with Israel’s front line hospitals to help save countless Jewish, Christian, and Muslim lives throughout a nation of over 8.4 million people.

“The ambulances we are donating will make a big difference in helping to save lives in Israel — one of the most conflict-ridden areas of the world. Our prayer is that by providing these ambulances, lives will be changed both physically and spiritually.” commented Franklin Graham.

“Due to the consistently tumultuous landscape in Israel, there is a continued need for life-saving assistance for the Israeli people and ambulances are the first line of support in the face of physical need. The first responders offer immediate care for everyone from babies, to a tourist suffering a heart attack to a victim of a terrorist act. We are eternally grateful to Rev. Franklin Graham and Samaritan’s Purse for their remarkable gift of two ambulances,” remarked Heart to Heart Israel’s director, Jonathan Feldstein.

Today was truly a historic day in Samaritan’s Purse and BGEA’s 40+ year history of helping victims of tragedy, poverty, and terrorism around the world.

    Amazon.com Now Hiring 150-200 Jobs At New Concord Facility

    0

    amazon-building-in-concordAmazon.com will start will start hiring 150-200 people this month, for its new 222,500 square feet facility in the Concord Airport Business Park off Derita Road. This new facility will be Amazon’s first fulfillment center in North Carolina.

    Currently, the closest Amazon.com distribution center the Charlotte area is located in Columbia, S.C. The company also plans to open another facility in Spartanburg, S.C., this year. Combined, Amazon is spending over $125 million to open their new distribution facilities in the Carolinas.

    This new expansion is in line with Amazon’s recent moves to invest heavily in its order-fulfillment capabilities, opening more warehouses and expanding same-day delivery. They currently operate 48.3 million square feet in North America, in 96 total distribution centers.

    The increased investments make sense when you consider that Amazon spent $8.6 billion on order fulfillment last year, which was almost double the $4.6 billion the company spent on order fulfillment just a few years ago in 2011.

    Their new expansion tactics will allow them to cut out UPS and FedEx and their distribution networks. Once they complete their own full-scale distribution network, Amazon will be able to keep goods in its network until they’re almost at their destination, then use the U.S. Postal Service for the last leg of delivery. They have even been talking about even using flying drones to deliver the goods to their clients door steps in the near future.

    You can now browse all job openings around the greater Charlotte region here.

    One of The World’s Rarest Shark Species Was Just Introduced Into Concord’s Sea Life Aquarium

    0

    zebra shark concordThe safest way to see seven species of sharks up close is to visit the Sea Life Concord Aquarium at Concord Mills in Concord (much safer than the beach these days).

    The aquarium also just introduced their newest and rarest member – Freedom, a female zebra shark – introduced to the Bay of Rays tank after waiting for over a year.

    Freedom, now about 4 feet long, will live in the tank until she reaches a length of 7 feet to 8 feet, large enough to be moved into the main ocean tank, seen in the video below;

    Gastonia’s Hazardous Materials Team Investigates Orange Mass Near The Belmont Wastewater Treatment Plant

    0

    orange mass in gastoniaThe Hazardous Materials Team from Gastonia joined forces with Belmont and Charlotte Firefighters to contain and test a recently discovered orange mass just north of Lake Wylie.

    The groups worked together to quarantine the giant orange mass, then the Hazardous Materials Team took samples back to the lab to begin testing. Everyone’s biggest fear was a chemical spill, especially since the mass was so close to the Belmont Wastewater Treatment Plant.

    Firefighters from multiple departments corralled an orange blob of algae Friday afternoon after Belmont residents called with concerns about the mass.

    Once the team ran several chemical tests on the material they announced that it was a rare, but safe form of algae.

    The total plume ended up stretching over 1,000 feet along the shoreline near the Belmont Wastewater Treatment Plant.

    If the substance hadn’t come back as organic, a massive multi-county team would been assembled to begin the cleanup process.

    The team now things that this rare orange algae bloom was primarily due to the lake’s unusually low water levels.

    If your home is on well water, experts are recommending the use of an on-tap filter system.

    Bank Of America Stadium Will Be Turning Orange This Weekend

    0

    ACC championship game charlotteMost big things in Charlotte are either blue (Panthers, Hornets, Bank of America, Lowes), or red and gold (Wells Fargo, Bojangles, Family Dollar), but this weekend the Queen City will witness a massive flood of orange.

    Tomorrow night, the ACC Football Championship is coming to town for the 6th straight year. The undefeated Clemson Tigers (12-0) will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels, who are currently on an 11 game winning streak.

    Although the teams are evenly matched, their fan bases in Charlotte won’t be. Clemson fans had an extra 2 weeks to buy tickets, since they won the conference’s Atlantic Division 2 weeks before the Tar Heels won their Coastal Division.

    Experts are predicting that Tiger fans will overwhelm UNC fans at tomorrow night’s sold-out game. The Bank of America Stadium seats 73,000, and about two-thirds of those have already been claimed by Clemson fans.

    The fact that the game sold out so soon drove up prices on secondary ticket markets. Tickets for tomorrow’s game are now being sold from $146 to $620.

    This will be the third sold-out ACC Champtionship Game since it was moved to Charlotte back in 2010. This year, the game is projected to have a $30 million impact on our local economy.
