Chanticleer Holdings was launched 10 years ago in Charlotte as a business development company focused on buying and expanding restaurants around the world. They now own The American Burger Company, The Burger Joint, a majority stake in Just Fresh, and they’re now one of the largest Hooter’s franchisee owners in the world.
Mike Pruitt, the President and CEO of Chanticleer Holdings, is a truly die-hard Panthers fan and has a very interesting reason why he believes the Panthers will win the Superbowl;
The Trump campaign’s scheduled visit to Rock Hill’s Winthrop University on Jan. 8 has many local residents responding similarly to when Obama visited back in 2012.
During Obama’s campaign trail visit, a local Rock Hill resident put up giant road-side signs reading, “Save America Nov 6 2012 Mitt Romney.”, “You can’t fix stupid – but you can vote them out!”, and “If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you weren’t a racist, you’d better vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you’re not an idiot!” Those signs spread like wild fire around the Rock Hill region and gained considerable national attention.
Donald Trump is now receiving a similar treatment as he has isolated himself from women and minorities and now that most local conservatives have thrown their support behind Iowa’s new front-runner, Ted Cruz.
The Porter family is so disgusted at Trump’s hateful and polarizing rhetoric that they decided to graffiti their own house to show the world what they think of Trump.
People all over Rock Hill are now taking notice – pictures of their home are now trending locally on social media in a similar fashion to the anti-Obama signs back in 2012.
Some of the messages spray-painted on the home read; “Trump Realty”, “Trump Hates Freedom”, “Trump Sold Me This House, What’s He Selling You?”, “This property is an artistic rendering of a post-Trump America,” and one of the most popular messages simply reads, “Donald Trump hates puppies.”
Charlotte Filmed ‘War Room’ Stuns Hollywood With a $11.4 Million Weekend.
Faith-based ‘War Room’ opened up to 1,135 theaters its first weekend, with reports people were laughing, crying and praying as stunned Hollywood watchers saw the low-budget, Charlotte area film nearly dethrone “Straight Outta Compton” as the weekend’s highest-grossing domestic release with its $11.4 million debut.
The names Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick are likely to be unknown but thanks to low-budget hits like “Fireproof” and “Courageous,” the brothers have transformed themselves into the Steven Spielbergs of Christian cinema. War Room earned an A+ from CinemaScore, making the first film to receive such a rating since American Sniper earlier this year.
Filming in Uptown Charlotte and in Kannapolis, Concord, Hickory and Huntersville, the Kendrick Brothers Productions project spent three months in the area last summer employing a cast of 45 and crew ranging between 85 and 100 people. It drew more than 1,000 volunteers from 85 churches in the Charlotte area.
“We found everything we needed to produce War Room in Charlotte,” said Stephen Kendrick, “the homes, businesses and even our Miss Clara; we’ve been blown away by Charlotte.”
“War Room” focuses on the power of prayer through the eyes of a family that needs it. In the film, Tony and Elizabeth Jordan, seem to have it all — great jobs, a beautiful daughter and their dream home. In reality, they are not as lucky as they appear. The couple’s world is crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage, Tony basks in professional success and flirts with temptation while Elizabeth resigns herself to increasing bitterness.
Their lives take a turn when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a “war room” as well as a battle plan of prayer for her family. As Elizabeth tries to fight for her family, Tony’s hidden struggles come to light — and he must decide if he will make amends to his family and prove that victories don’t come by accident.
The website MovieTickets.com indicated “War Room” was trending No. 1 in ticket sales all weekend, accounting for 20 to 28 percent of all ticket sales over the weekend.

Although many people are traumatized, only one serious injury has been reported after a gunman was killed by police at Northlake Mall on Christmas Eve, according to WBTV news
Charlotte residents and visitors were picking out their final gifts when witnesses say they heard seven shots fired shortly after 2 p.m.
Police returned fire at the gunman in Journeys shoe store, fatally wounding the man and quickly ending any further violence.
The Charlotte Observer reported that one person is now being treated from a leg injury. A pregnant woman and someone suffering with asthma were also taken to the hospital for monitoring.
John Dawson, a local Charlotte salesman, commented that he was buying a gift for his date when the shooting erupted. He said it began with an argument inside a packed store.
“There was a dude fighting with one or two dudes, and I kind of stopped and looked over there,” Dawson said. One person pulled out a gun and started “shooting everywhere.” He said other shoppers began running when the shots were fired, a nearby police officer then responded by returning fire.
Caryl Santos, a 20-year-old sophomore at East Carolina University, said she was standing in the checkout line at Belk when suddenly people began running toward the exit.
“I had no idea what to do so I grabbed my mom, dropped my stuff and ran out of the store. It was so terrifying,” Santos remarked.
The Panthers have surprised the world by becoming only the 16th team in the Super Bowl era to start a season with a 14-0 record. The Panthers are now the only two team with a perfect record this season, and many analysts now consider them to be the best Panthers team in the history of the franchise.
Cam Newton stated in his most recent press conference that it’s an honor to have the fastest growing fan base in the NFL. When asked about the upcoming playoff game, he said that the whole team prepares for every game like it’s their last.
“We know it’s going to be on a national stage, but it’s just another game, it’s all about preparation. Games like this go to the team that is prepared the most and more ready for the moment.” Newton remarked.
Newton and The Panther’s 10-page feature article in Sports Illustrated this week will discuss many of the strengths of the team – especially as it relates to Cam’s “superhero” qualities.
Last Tuesday, the Charlotte Stories team wrote an article and created a petition in response to Gov. Pat McCrory’s letter that he sent to Charlotte on Monday. The letter told the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization to either vote in support of the toll lanes or “set in motion the necessary steps to create a new regional transportation plan.”
We were truly surprised and overwhelmed at the response to our petition, in less than a week, it received over 35,000 views and more than 11,000 signatures.
When our team sat down to finalize and print the entire petition this morning, we ended up with 11,483 total signatures that we printed on 329 pages.
When we delivered it, the planning department told us that it was one of the largest petitions that they had ever received.
The City of Charlotte and the CRTPO now have the key vote for the entire i77 toll lane project, as it’s worth 31 of the 68 total votes needed to continue building the new toll lanes.
The vote will take place at CRTPO’s planned meeting scheduled for Jan. 20th.
Neil Burke, the Senior Principal Planner for the CRTPO, told me that there will be a public hearing immediately before their meeting begins.
Tickets for the Carolina Panthers divisional home playoff game just went on sale this evening.
The official release took place at 6pm this evening, and within minutes, they were completely sold out.
The good news is that TicketNetwork.com is now offering many of the tickets for resale, contracting with those who were lucky enough to buy tickets within today’s initial release, as well as with PSL and season ticket holders. Prices on the site are now ranging from $252 to over $1,500 per ticket and will most likely continue to increase in price until the playoffs.
The now locally famous brewery in the Lake Norman area is now becoming internationally known. The D9 Brewing Company in Cornelius just won second and third place for two of its prized beers at the 19th Annual Great International Beer & Cider Competition.
The Competition took place in Providence, R.I. a couple weeks ago, where D9 Brewing received awards in the Sour/Wild Beers category, in which Viking Fraoch Scottish Sour placed second and Ezekiel 25:17 Black Sour placed third.
D9’s pumpkin ale was also recently ranked the sixth best pumpkin beers in America by Paste Magazine.
Paste Magazine conducted a blind tasting of pumpkin beers from breweries nationwide and released a list of the Top 20 Pumpkin Beers early last month. D9 Brewing’s Head of the Horseman Imperial Pumpkin was ranked sixth on the list.
NoDa Brewing Co., from Charlotte also made the list, ranking 18th for their Gordgeous Pumpkin Ale. The tasting included 45 pumpkin beer entries, which Paste narrowed down to 20 finalists for ranking. Professional beer writers, brewery owners, beer representatives, and other beer professionals made up the judging panel.
County officials have just unveiled plans for the county’s biggest park, which will eventually include about 190 acres of biking and hiking trails, as well as water ways, docks, and a fishing pier.
Rob Wallace Park will be situated just off U.S. highway 601 near Wallace Road. The massive park will also feature conventional and natural playgrounds, picnic shelters, paddleboats, an outdoor classroom, possible aerial parks, and a disc golf coarse.
The county is now spending $1 million for Phase 1, now planned to be completed in 2016.
Many of the features incorporate the natural surroundings, with a ‘natural playground’ planned to include play units made from using natural elements like downed trees as wildlife habitats, stumps as stepping blocks and vines to make swings.
