The 7 Best Christmas Movies of All Time

0

Christmas is a festival that involves a lot of good food, fun and gala family time and some presents from family and friends. However, amidst all this, how can you even forget the tradition of vegging out in front of a TV screen with your favourite Christmas movie on? In my opinion, you simply cannot find a more effective way to utilize your holidays than by just binge-watching some great festive flicks. So, to help you utilize your vacations well, we have come up with a list of some of the best Christmas movies of all times. Let’s take a look!

It’s a Wonderful Life

Though released long back in 1946, It’s a Wonderful life is one film that had to make it to the top spot. This fantasy drama is in every sense the father of all festive movies and undoubtedly the bonafide classic from the Golden Age of Hollywood. The film showcases the George Bailey (James Stewart), the most decent person of America wanting to commit suicide on the eve of the Christmas day. He is, however, saved by an angel Clarence Odbody who shows him how the life of the people around him would have been if he hadn’t been born. Austin who offers assignment help Australia says that it is your ultimate feel-good movie revolving around redemption and family value. If you wish to do yourself a favour, you have to watch it right away.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Released in 1965, this is the first television special based on the life of the legendary cartoonist Charles M. Schulz. This iconic comic strip is easily one of the most epic Christmas movies ever made. In the movie, A Charlie Brown Christmas, the protagonist is dealing with the holiday blues when he questions the true meaning of Christmas, which is also the favourite day of the year for many. With some assistance from the Peanuts gang, Charlie wishes to direct a Nativity play of his own. James who offers statistics homework help online says that ever since the original broadcast in the year 1965, it has been shown on a loop every year by ABC. It is by far the longest-running animated special in history and you wouldn’t want to miss it, right?

A Christmas Story

Zain who did an excellent DigitalOcean review online says that if you are a fan of corny movies, this 1983 release is a must-watch for you. A Christmas Story depicts the spirits of a child and his fantasies during the holidays. Kid me not, this depiction is the best you will ever see on the screen. The film is set in the 1950s and is a childhood fantasy film which will give you a fuzzy and warm feeling. So, as old as you may be, you shouldn’t miss out on this Christmas flick.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a 1964 television special. It is certainly as iconic as the poem and the song that it is based on. This has been the biggest stop-motion classic for the longest time. In the special, you’ll see the protagonist struggling to get acceptance amidst the Santa’s little helpers in the Christmas town. So, with some assistance from Hermey, an elf along with a prospector named Yukon, Rudolph fights the Abominable Snow Monster and protects Christmas. The message that you get with this series is as important today as it was back in 1964 when it was released i.e. You have to always be yourself and you’ll eventually find people who are like you. So, never give up on your uniqueness and let the world catch up with it.

A Christmas Carol

Sam who recently had to buy college essays online says that his favourite all-time Christmas movie is A Christmas Carol. Released under the title Scrooge in 1951 in the United Kingdom, the movie is an adaptation of the classic Dickens novella. It is possibly the most cherished Christmas movies ever made. Alastair Sim, the protagonist portrayed his role with such ease and finesse that you cannot move your eyes from him. The movie depicts the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the spirits of the Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come wherein he is given just one chance to redeem himself. Since you need to celebrate, chill and unwind this festive season, I recommend this classic flick to you.

Die Hard

The 1988 classic, Die Hard has made it to our ‘top 7 list’ of the best Christmas movies and if you think otherwise, you need to stop right there and rewind. Angelina who works with PaperDoers and offers online paper writing service says that Die Hard is a movie about the office Christmas party getting hijacked by some rowdy Euro-trash terrorists. You’ll see the machine gun clatter from the rooftop and down comes the hero Bruce Willis who is out there to dispense carnage and splatter. Wills makes a nice or naughty list where he checks off each one and then goes on to hand over the Christmas presents to destroy the fun of the terrorists. This perfectly crafted action-thriller is deservingly on this list and must be added to your ‘watch list’ right away.

Christmas in Connecticut

Brad who offers data science certification online says that the 1945 Christmas classic, ‘Christmas in Connecticut,’ is all about the utterly charming Barbara Stanwyck. The movie revolves around Stanwyck’s sheer lack of housekeeping and the hosting skills which are at risk of being divulged when her publisher invites himself to her made-up holiday festivities. There is a lot of humour and comedy that follows after when Stanwyck tries to improvise as a housewife with the additional chaos of a plausible Christmas romance shown in the form of a visiting vet (Dennis Morgan).

So, these according to us are the top 7 best Christmas movies of all times. Of course, there are others like 1990 released Home Alone, 1993 released The Nightmare Before Christmas and 2003 released Elf, but since they are more latest ones, we are hoping that you are already aware of them. None the less, go ahead and catch up on all these 10 Christmas movies and you can be assured of making your holidays more exciting.

UNC Charlotte to Opening New Veterans Park This Coming Monday

via UNC Charlotte

UNC Charlotte will officially open its new Veterans Park this coming Monday, Nov. 11, at 1pm.

The park was conceived by Christopher Orr ’18 as a place on campus to recognize UNC Charlotte’s historical connections to veteran students and to honor all past, present and future veterans who will attend or work at the University. The celebration will be hosted by the UNC Charlotte Veteran Services Office.

“By establishing Veterans Park here at UNC Charlotte, we are continuing in the recognition of our campus’ dedication to aid in educating returning service members. As we did following World War II, we continue to value and celebrate the service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform,” said Bill Wilson, director of the Veteran Services Offices.

The University broke ground on the park in May, and construction began during the summer. Veterans Park is adjacent to Memorial Hall, near the corner of Cameron Boulevard and University Road. Memorial Hall houses the University’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs.

The University has a rich history of serving veterans and is one of several educational institutions founded in American cities following World War II. These schools met new demands for higher education and provided unprecedented opportunities fueled by the GI Bill, which gave thousands of returning veterans historic access to higher education.

Yesterday’s Youth Climate Strike in Uptown Charlotte Making National Headlines

0

Yesterday afternoon, over 1,200 people (mostly students) descended on Uptown Charlotte for our city’s second ‘Youth Climate Strike’.

Last month the first rally was led by Charlotte’s 14-year-old Mary Ellis Stevens, along with about 500 students from around Charlotte;

For Charlotte’s second rally, Stevens contacted world-renown 16-year-old activist Greta Thunberg from Sweden, who agreed to come to Charlotte to speak.

The resulting rally drew over 1,200 people to Uptown Charlotte’s government center between 12pm-2pm on a cold Friday afternoon;

Yesterday’s rally caused such a stir on social media that many national news outlets began reporting on it.

Yahoo news reported on Greta’s speech during the rally, and specifically, how she shut down a heckler from the crowd while she was talking.

ABC News noted that the Climate Strike marches have now been organizing around the world for over a year and there are no plans on stopping them until “adults start believing in the science of climate change”.

They quoted Greta from the Charlotte stage in saying; “the people in power have not yet done that, they continue to ignore us and to ignore the current best available science, so we have no choice but to go on for as long as it takes.”

Even the world’s Episcopal News Service reported on how the entire student body of Charlotte’s Trinity Episcopal School was dismissed for the day so they could attend the rally.

What do you think about yesterday’s ‘Youth Climate Strike’?

“Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer: The Musical” Coming To Bojangles’ Coliseum

0

Following five successful years of touring and more than 500 performances, the “most famous reindeer of all” from the longest-running and highest-rated holiday television special will return to Ovens Auditorium at Bojangles’ Entertainment Complex on Dec. 19, 2019 at 7 p.m. live on stage with the critically acclaimed “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical.”

Tickets tickets can now be purchased online at StubHub.com. A direct link to purchase tickets can be found here.

In 1964, the beloved stop-motion animated television classic, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” made its network television debut and has been delighting audiences across the country for over 50 years. “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical is a wonderful new way to experience this family tradition,” says producing partner Jonathan Flom.

Projections, costumes and characters are faithfully brought to the stage against a backdrop of nostalgic set designs. The 12-foot-plus-tall Abominable Snow Monster is jaw-dropping. The cast brings high energy to classic songs and dialogue, while irresistible and loveable puppets highlight the charming “roughness” from the television show’s stop-motion effects.

The story tells the tale of a young Rudolph who, because of the appearance of his bright, shining nose, is excluded from the Reindeer Games. He flees Christmastown and meets up with new friends Hermey the Elf and Yukon Cornelius. After finding The Island of Misfit Toys, Rudolph journeys home, where a snowstorm of epic proportions is threatening Christmas. Can Rudolph rescue his family and friends and help Santa save the holiday?

Rudolph’s partnership with PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center continues this year.  The show offers a free toolkit to teachers that leverages the powerful messages from the Rudolph story to teach important character values.  In addition, a portion of proceeds from venue sales of the book, T.E.A.M. Rudolph and the Reindeer Games, will be donated to PACER.

Braun Strowman Can Be A WWE Champion On SmackDown

0

Adam Scherr is a professional wrestler who is currently signed with the WWE and currently competes in the SmackDown. Adam Scherr is more commonly known as Braun Strowman.

Braun was born on September 6, 1983, in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, United States.

He made his professional wrestling debut on the 19th of December 2014.

Braun Strowman nicknamed “The Monster among Men”, has been a prominent WWE superstar and is popular among the WWE fans, He has great fights with many top superstars, Even Superstars like John Cena and Big Show have helped in putting over The monster among Men and help escalated his career.

Even though Braun has been a part of many high profile matches over the years, Being champion is something that eludes the monster among men. Braun has won the Royal Rumble, the tag team championship and the money in the Bank contract but an individual championship is something that eludes him.

Braun Strowman didn’t even need to have won the Money in the bank to be in line for a title shot, but giving him the contract and then his failed attempt at cashing in the contract showed that the WWE has no interest in making Braun Strowman a champion as of yet.

Even at Crown Jewel where Braun was the favorite to win the match he was left stranded and the title was awarded to Brock Lesnar.

With Braun now a part of the SmackDown roster over at Fox, will it finally be his time to win the coveted WWE championship? Although it would be a welcome change it seems improbable.

According to latest WWE speculations the main reason behind Braun not getting a title shot, or rather not winning the title is because of his backstage fallout with the WWE management, Braun’s attitude is not going down well with those managing the WWE, even if the fans would love to see Strowman as a champion, at the end of the day it comes down to who the management want to see pushed to the top.

The Monster among men has been in line to win the title a few times, but every time WWE tries to push him to the top he seems to do something that upsets the management, With that Strauman also suffers from a lot of injuries, so for such a big guy strawman does well but now his knees seems to be giving him a lot of trouble at times.

WWE has had to take away the titles from many superstars due to injury and that is maybe why they are avoiding giving the title to a wrestler suffering from bad knees.

Braun has been one of the constant and most popular superstars for the WWE, with the push he got, his fanbase and his commitment in the ring it seems rather odd that he hasn’t been WWE champion even once

Its a new day for WWE SmackDown after its move to Fox and maybe it shines a new light at Braun Strowman which helps in him becoming the WWE SmackDown Champion.

Vehicle Safety Inspections, Existing Traffic Laws To Help Lessen Traffic Fatalities In Charlotte

0
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 1,412 recorded deaths in the state in 2017. These fatalities resulted from  negligence in wearing a seat belt. Because of this, the city adopted the Vision Zero action plan to wipe out traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. Before the announcement, the city also implemented several changes to improve traffic safety. It includes installation of 56 traffic signals, construction of 71 miles of sidewalk, and addition of 3,424 street lights all over the city. Aside from these, there are other important vehicle safety inspections and new regulations that authorities from Charlotte must focus on reducing road fatalities in the city.
Inclusion of Rust In-Vehicle Safety Inspections
Charlotte’s licensed state inspectors strongly advise asking an independent mechanic to accompany buyers when checking out  new or used vehicles in automobile sales shop to be assured that they are getting their money’s worth. To have the peace of mind, buyers need to have the car lifted or slide under to get a good look at what is underneath. Buyers must also check all the doors, the hood, and the hinges of the trunk to see any visible signs of rust or damage. These inspection procedures can be tedious for any potential buyer. Fortunately, several car shops around Charlotte are going the extra mile to check the car’s underbody for rust and other issues to ensure the passenger’s safety, Asking for a  complete vehicle history report can also help determine the condition of the unit.
Monitor Vehicles Before Hitting the Road
Aside from checking the underbody, there are several pointers to see if the car that will be purchased is still in running condition. First, buyers must always ask for a test drive to know if the car can still cruise down the road smoothly. This will also allow them to see if all the warning lights at the dashboard will turn on. It will also let them hear if there are clicking or tapping sounds present while running. In addition, those who are planning to buy a car must also check if there are any leaking fluids before leaving the lot.
Abiding School Bus Stop-Arm Laws
According to the state regulation, drivers approaching a school bus must stop and avoid any attempt to pass until the mechanical “stop” signal is no longer visible. If the vehicles are located the divided highways where they can spot a median lane, the traffic that is tailing behind the bus are the only ones that need to stop. This law can help in making sure that the kids will reach home safe and sound.
As long as necessary precautions are followed, we can minimize the risks of vehicular accidents. In addition, relearning all the existing road rules in North Carolina could help in preventing road accidents and reducing the number of casualties in the state.

via Joe Camporeale – USA TODAY Sports

Just 1 day after former starting QB Cam Newton was placed on injured reserve, our new starting QB Kyle Allen was placed on Wednesday’s injury report.

According to the report, Allen injured his right throwing shoulder, but still fully participated in practice (DNP means ‘Did not participate in practice’ and FP means ‘Full participation’);

Although there has been no official statement by the Panthers as to the severity of Allen’s injury, the fact that he fully participated in practice is a positive sign that the injury may be minor.

This past week, Allen completed 17 of 32 throws for a total of 232 passing yards, including 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

If Allen is healthy enough to start this weekend, he’ll lead the 5-3 Panthers against the 7-2 Packers on their home turf at at Lambeau Field.
