Viton Fluorocarbon: It’s Scientific

0

Viton fluorocarbon is an innovative material that is used in a range of applications including seals and o-rings. The Viton brand is a trusted name in industrial circles, as the fluorocarbon products are high quality and reliable. Viton fluorocarbon o-rings are commonly used in mechanics, and you will find them in both aircraft and automobiles.

Why is fluorocarbon so effective, and how does it compare to other common o-ring materials such as silicone, nitrile and neoprene? It is the unique features of this material that makes it stand out, and we are here to explore the science behind Viton fluorocarbon.

The Basics of This Innovative Material

Fluorocarbon is literally a combination of carbon and fluorine. When carbon-based polymers become highly fluorinated, the properties change.

Polymers contain base molecules called monomers, and there are different fluorocarbon rubber compounds available. Each one has a unique number of monomers, and these include copolymers with two, terpolymer with three, and tetrapolymers with four.

Viton fluorocarbon has resistance to a range of severe conditions encountered by aircraft and automobile components. Seals made from this product can withstand high temperatures, fuels, oils, solvents, ozone and extreme weather. Due to the flexibility, durability and strength, Viton has become a universal o-ring material.

Where You Might Find These O-Rings and Seals

Viton fluorocarbon can stand up to a wide range of temperatures, making it a versatile solution. The numbers are impressive as the standard compound has a range of -13° to +446°F, and the special compound has a range of -13° to +446°F.

Due to the chemical resistance and ability to create an impenetrable seal, Viton o-rings are heavy duty. They are commonly used in aircraft engines and other applications where there is the possibility of contact with automotive fuels.

The Benefits of Using Viton Fluorocarbon

Viton Fluorocarbon has a hardness of 55 to 90. As it contains high levels of fluorine, there is a good resistance to swell that comes from specific fuel blends. Fuels and fluids that are high octane, oxygenated or contain ethanol or methanol are suitable matches for this material.

There are different grades available depending on the requirements for the seals. For example, some versions are more resistant to transmission oils, while others work more effectively in lower temperatures. O-rings made from Viton fluorocarbon are resistant to steam.

Every Material Has Limitations

While fluorocarbon does have a range of excellent qualities, it is not always the right choice. For example, exposure to nitro hydrocarbons, ketones, chlorosulfonic acids and amines can cause damage to items made from this material.

Despite this, the list of limitations in aviation and automobiles is relatively small as it is compatible with a large range of dynamic applications. This is why it is one of the most trusted materials for o-rings and seals in high-powered industries.

Learning About Viton Fluorocarbon

O-rings and seals are made from different materials. One of the most trusted is Viton fluorocarbon, which is made from carbon polymers that have been enhanced with high levels of fluorine.

There is a long list of benefits from using these products, including high-temperature resistance, steam tolerance and the ability to withstand fuels and gases. These seals can perform at different temperatures, and they come in a standard or special compound. While there are some limitations, the ability to stand up to ethanols and high octane fuels makes Viton an obvious choice for automotive and aircraft purposes.

What is the Cost and Value of CBD Flowers Right Now?

0

CBD keeps soaring in popularity. In most countries, CBD is no longer among the banned substances. Since its legalization in 2018, 1 in every 5 American adults has tried it. However, CBD is not everyone’s cup of tea. Moreover, some of the premium CBD products are quite expensive. That said, most people wonder about the real value of the famous CBD hemp flower. Before we delve further into this, here are a few things you need to know about high-quality CBD hemp flower.

High-CBD hemp flower

Unlike the ordinary hemp that’s grown for extraction purposes, premium CBD hemp flower is quite different. The hemp flower comes from the cannabis sativa plant. It is then dried and processed. You can either smoke it, ingest it as a capsule, or in other various ways.

Some people grow CBD on vast tracts of land, and this lowers its costs after harvesting. But despite being cheap, this type of CBD is somewhat low quality. To get a more refined CBD that you can smoke, farmers need to invest more time as well as labor.

The cost of premium CBD hemp flower

When it comes to determining the cost of CBD flower per ounce, a lot goes into play. You have to factor in variables such as where it is grown, shipping costs, quality of the product, taxes, and so on. Premium CBD can cost anything between $40 and $150. If we are talking about the most sought after rare strains, they will undoubtedly cost more.

You are probably thinking that this is tremendously expensive. What you need to know is that the high-CBD flower offers the best value for your money. Besides being bioavailable, it is usually unadulterated. This makes it perfect for smoking. If you spend your hard earned money on an ounce of this CBD, you are likely to use it for a long time, and you will enjoy it each time. Additionally, it is slightly cheaper when you buy it in a larger quantity. Therefore, the cost and value of CBD flower of premium quality matches meaning it is costly to produce and in return offers users a better experience, hence value for their money.

How to tell if a product is high-CBD

With a lot of CBD on the market, it is much harder to differentiate high-CBD from the regular CBD products. You cannot identify it unless you look at its certificate of analysis and lab report. If you want a legitimate report, check if it has been prepared by a third party. If that’s the case, the product is genuine.

If you walk into a store looking for high-CBD, the attendants should show you this certificate. The same case applies to online shops, they should upload this document on their website. Remember that if the outlet doesn’t have a certificate, then there is no way to ascertain that the CBD is legitimate.

What should the report have?

In the report, you should be looking at the levels of CBD in the flower. Compare two or more products to see which one is the best. Also, check if the farmers have used any harmful pesticides. If they have, you shouldn’t buy it.

People continue wondering about the cost and value of high CBD right now. Unfortunately, the answer is not as clear cut as you would expect. But if you have read this article carefully, you can easily identify high-CBD products. The ultimate objective is to ensure that you are not buying substandard or counterfeit products from an unscrupulous trader. It is best to buy from a reputable supplier. To get the best value for your money, always educate yourself on CBD. This will help you identify high-CBD products with the utmost ease every time.

NC Votes Continue To Be Counted – Here’s How You Can Check If Your Vote Was Accepted

We hope this donation helps alleviate any technology or financial gaps students may experience so they can remain confident and focused on their education.”

Hop Over to Discovery Place Science and Explore Fantastic Frogs

0

A special exhibition detailing the life and times of some of our favorite amphibians recently hopped back into Discovery Place Science. Fantastic Frogs, a 3,500-square-foot exhibition, is now on display at the Uptown museum for the at least the sixth time in its 10-year history.

The popular exhibition engages visitors in learning about the “superpowers” frogs use to escape predators, catch food and reproduce. Taking a graphic novel approach, Fantastic Frogs includes approximately 40 live animals as well as several multimedia experiences.

“This is a story about extraordinary frogs and their ability to survive,” said Discovery Place’s Sarah Macey, who helped design the exhibition, which debuted in 2010. “It is a story focused on how these amphibians move, camouflage themselves, live in the winter months and more. Frogs have evolved incredible adaptations to survive over millions of years.

“We also pose a question about whether these amazing species will be able to continue to survive with the rate of human-induced climate change.”

A variety of frog species are on display as part of the exhibition, including the most poisonous amphibian (and perhaps animal!) in the world – the golden poison dart frog. Its bright coloring warns predators of its extreme toxicity, serving as its main protection and allowing the frog to have a relatively long lifespan in the wild.

In addition to various types of poison dart frogs, the exhibition also showcases such species as the tomato frog, the Pacman frog, a Vietnamese mossy frog, Solomon Island Leaf frog and harlequin toad to name a few.

“The exhibition is great for giving you a sense of what frog biodiversity looks like worldwide. We’ve got species from Africa, South America, Polynesia, Asia, Australia and North America,” said Elliot Provance, director of Living Collections at Discovery Place. “Frogs are remarkable survivors and have adapted to almost every habitat on earth. That being said, amphibians are a good indicator species to tell us about the health of an ecosystem. Inherently, amphibians rely on clean water and air to survive. When their numbers decline, something is wrong.”

The exhibition, which is free with the price of admission, is now on display. Discovery Place Science is open on Saturdays and Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased by visiting www.discoveryplacescience.org.

The Type of Grass You Choose For Your Charlotte Home Could Cost or Save You Thousands

One of the many ways to assist you in building wealth is by helping to reduce monthly household reoccurring expenses such as lawn maintenance. As a financial advisor, finding ways to help reduce expenses via a budgeting process is an integral part of financial planning that includes household expenses.

Believe it or not your choice of grass can either cost you or save you a considerable amount of money. For those on a tight budget, by limiting reoccurring expenses with inexpensive self-solutions one can free up cash flow for investments or other things. Most often than not consumers building a new home just take the grass specified in their construction contract (if it is at all) without even considering anything else. More often than the general contractor will use the cheapest grass burdening the consumer with potentially higher watering & maintenance expenses as a result. Choosing a low maintenance grass can add up to thousands of dollars a year and over-time if that money gets invested in your retirement plan, it can help you reach your goals.

The main choices of grass types in the Charlotte area ranked on sod costs (low to high) are Tall Fescue, Bermuda and Zoysia.

I recently investigated each and deciding solely base on ongoing maintenance Bermuda & Zoysia offer better alternatives. They are generally 20-30% more upfront and go dormant in winter (ie turn brown after first or second frost with TifTuf staying green longest) but the savings over time in chemical treatments & fertilizer make them by far a better investment.

To boot, there is a new type of Bermuda offered by Super-Sod here in Charlotte dubbed TifTuf Bermuda that claims unless there is a severe drought, it requires no irrigation. That alone can potentially save thousands of dollars per ½ acre annually. Thus in a couple of years the savings could pay for the lawn itself! I have verified this thru my own water calculations while the University of Georgia has as well.

Most NC residents don’t realize that water is charged in Tiers and the more you use the more you pay per gallon!  It is essentially a progressive tax on water and could increase the charge by 30-50% or more for incremental usage above 10,000 gallons. For new construction clients it is essential to review such details in the specifications of a contract before they sign on the dotted line as it could be costly. Such choices in conjunction with personal preference should entail a return on investment analysis.

North Carolina Is Now The Second Biggest Solar State In America

0

new-solar-farms-in-north-carolinaAccording to the SEIA’s U.S. Solar Market Insight report, North Carolina has officially beat out Arizona to become the second-biggest solar-producing state in the country.

The report notes the following facts about the Tar Heel state;

  • National Ranking: 2nd.
  • State Homes Powered by Solar: 504,119.
  • Percentage of State’s Electricity from Solar: 4.64%.
  • Solar Companies in State: 249 (42 Manufacturers, 118 Installers/Developers, 83 Others).
  • Total Solar Investment in State: $6,504.31 million.
  • Prices have fallen 53% in the last five years.
  • Growth Projection: 4,577 MW over the next 5 years (ranks 2nd).

Over the past few years, our state has seen billions of dollars committed for new solar projects. One of our state’s biggest solar facilities (which is now being added onto) is Apple’s solar array in Maiden, NC, used to power it’s massive east coast cloud data center.

Duke Energy has been on of the main driving forces in our state’s solar growth, as it has been both building, and buying up the majority of new solar power.

“North Carolina’s growth in solar power is a combination of many stakeholders working together. Our plan at Duke Energy is to continue to add to our current 35 solar plants in the state – and purchase additional renewable energy for our customers,” commented Randy Wheeless, a spokesman for Duke Energy.
