Bojangles, the Charlotte-born chicken chain, today announced two limited-time products hitting menus this month, including new Chicken Rice Bowls and a new iteration of its Bo-Berry Cobbler.

The Chicken Rice Bowls feature Bojangles Dirty Rice, Cajun Pintos, and a blend of shredded Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses, with either Bo Bites chicken tender pieces, grilled chicken breast, or Bojangles Supremes.

“The Chicken Rice Bowl was an instant hit last year, so we knew we had to bring this flavor-packed meal back again,” said Marshall Scarborough, Vice President of Menu and Culinary Innovation for Bojangles. “It’s the perfect comfort meal to warm you up on a cold day, and it’s a generous portion at a value price.”

Also beginning today, customers can be the first to try Bojangles’ new Bo-Berry Cobbler – built on a buttermilk biscuit, topped with a warm Bo-Berry topping and drizzled with icing.

“The only way to make a cobbler taste even better is to swap in Bojangles’ made-from-scratch biscuits and iconic Bo-Berries,” said Scarborough. “The Bo-Berry Cobbler takes everything our fans love about the Bo-Berry Biscuit—flaky, buttery biscuit, sweet berries and icing—and elevates it into a tasty treat. It hits the spot any time of day when you’re craving something sweet. We can’t wait for everyone to try it!”

The announcement comes after Bojangles’ first foray into cobbler – The Peach Cobbler – saw significant love from fans. The brand plans to announce seasonal flavors throughout the year, so stay tuned! The Bo-Berry Cobbler will be available at participating locations for just $1.99 while supplies last.

Both the Chicken Rice Bowl and the Bo-Berry Cobbler are available for a limited time all Charlotte-area locations.

How To Keep Your Pets Safe As Temperatures Drop in Charlotte

0

freezing-pets-in-charlotteAs temperatures drop this week in the Queen City, our furry friends face an increasing danger of getting sick, or worse.

The Humane Society of Charlotte will be taking care of about 75 dogs and cats this winter, and over the years, they’ve learned some valuable lessons on how to keep pets safe in even the harshest conditions.

Here are a few tips they recommend:

  • Stay indoors! Never leave your dogs or cats outdoors for more than a few hours. If they get too cold or wet, they have a much higher risk of getting sick.
  • More food and water! Staying warm takes up a lot more of your pet’s energy. Make sure there is always fresh food and water available for your animals!
  • Dress for success. Have a shorthaired dog (or hairless cat)? Put them in a mini-sweater during walks. Try to find a coat or sweater with a high collar (think turtleneck style) and coverage all the way to the belly – Amazon has some great options for under $10.
  • Cozy them up! Just like you, your furry friend loves a warm bed, if you don’t have a pet bed, a fluffy blanket or giant pillow should do the trick!
  • Never leave your pet alone in the car! In the winter, the car can become a refrigerator, causing your pet to get sick or freeze to death.
  • Stay away from the clippers! Don’t shave your pet in the winter — their coat will provide warmth.
  • Don’t let your dog off its leash. Dogs can lose their scent easily in the snow and become lost. Don’t forget to make sure your pet wears an ID tag and has a microchip (with up-to-date owner information linked to it).
  • Be cautious when you start your car. The warm engines of parked cars are a magnet for outdoor cats. They love sleeping under the hoods when it’s cold outside, but when the motor starts, the kitty can be injured — or even killed — by the fan belt. Bang your hood loudly before start the car so cats have a chance to move away!

Please share these tips with any other animal lovers you know!

From Casual Players to Competitive Gamers: How Online Platforms Are Adapting to Diverse Needs

0

Entertainment has always been an essential part in one’s life as an outlet to unwind and relax. For some, they turn to TV shows and movies, for others, they simply lose themselves in music. However, studies show that more and more people are discovering that playing online games are also effective as a form of relaxation. According to the latest data, there is already an approximate of 3.09 billion active gamers.

Due to the growing number of gamers, it has turned the gaming industry into a billion dollar powerhouse. As such, this also results in online gaming platforms increasingly finding ways to cater to their diverse gaming needs. In this article, we will explore how online gaming platforms are evolving to accommodate the diverse needs of their user base.

Technological Advancements

Introduction of Web3 Technologies

The gaming industry has always been one of the most promising segments for applying Web3 technologies.

Web3 technologies represent the next phase of evolution of the internet that introduced blockchain and digital assets. Web3 gaming is built by integrating blockchain into the gaming ecosystem, offering gamers the opportunity to trade game tokens and earn in cryptos. Additionally, it also provides virtual markets for the gaming industry where the gamers get to access NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and other in-game digital assets.

Utilization of Powerful Graphics Processing Units (GPUs)

Another technological advancement introduced in the gaming industry are powerful graphics processing units (GPUs) that have made it possible for gamers to enjoy high-quality graphics in their games.

Additionally, it is through these GPUs that gamers get to enjoy immersive and engaging games. Gaming platforms are now shifting away from two-dimensional screens and are now poised to go all-in on 3D graphics and immersive gaming.

Convenience and Accessibility Advancements

Improved Payment Processing and Minimum Deposits

Aside from the advanced technology introduced in the industry, improved payment processing systems that streamline transactions are now being introduced.

This has been essential to gamers who prefer real money gaming and are searching for a minimum deposit casino or one that offers a wide variety of payment processing options. By prioritizing gaming platforms that focus on these advancements, it allows gamers to focus more on gaming instead of getting lost in which payment method is the fastest and has the lowest amount of transaction fees.

Additionally, it also gives gamers the option either to play casually or competitively without having to commit significant amounts of money or time to gaming. The best part is that these gaming platforms that offer no minimum deposit or wide variety of payment options are often the ones that offer the best games without stretching your gaming budget.

Accessibility Features for Gamers with Disabilities

Another advancement that focuses on convenience and accessibility are the features that make it inclusive to gamers with disabilities. Accordingly, game developers are now introducing customizable controls, text-to-speech options, trigger warnings, and color blind modes

A great example would be the efforts given by Discord and PlayStation that have implemented accessibility settings that allow gamers to tailor their gaming experience to suit their needs. Another effort would be gaming platforms and this includes online casinos that introduce a more robust reporting system and community guidelines to foster a more respectful interaction among gamers.

Community Building and Inclusivity

Interactive Chat Features

Another advancement introduced in gaming platforms are the social interactive features to make gaming a social activity.

As such, gaming platforms are now providing a range of communication tools that allow gamers to communicate with each other in several ways that are comfortable for them. These tools range from voice chat to text chat and are partnered with robust community guidelines to ensure that toxic gaming behaviour is not tolerated.

Incorporating these chat features allows diverse voices to be amplified in the gaming community, allowing them to share their experiences, creating a richer and more diverse gaming culture.

Final Thoughts

The evolution of online gaming platforms in adapting to the diverse needs of gamers definitely marks a positive shift within the industry. By prioritizing high-quality graphics, secure payment channels, accessibility to digital tokens, gamer inclusivity, and community building, these platforms not only enhance the gaming experience but also help foster a sense of belongingness among gamers from all walks of life.

As this trend continues and technology continues to advance, the future of gaming is absolutely bright, and the gaming community can most definitely look forward to an era where all their needs are looked after by the gaming platforms they subscribe to.

NC Utilities Commission Approves 6.2% Decrease in Duke Energy Rates

0

Starting this month, Duke Energy Carolinas will be reducing electric rates for customers across central and western North Carolina. Residential customers using 1,000 kilowatt-hours monthly now pay $135.35, a 6.2% decrease from $144.31, saving $8.96 per month. This rate is approximately 22% below the national average of $174.21, saving typical customers about $466 annually, according to a press release from the company.

Commercial customers see an 11.5% average reduction, while industrial customers experience less than 1% decreases. These adjustments affect 2.2 million households and businesses served by Duke Energy Carolinas.

The rate reduction stems from multiple factors reviewed by the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC). Key adjustments include an 8.8% decrease reflecting lower fuel costs, a 0.6% decrease due to nuclear production tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act, and a 2.9% increase in base rates approved last year.

Overall, Duke Energy notes that falling fuel costs have offset the base rate increases, resulting in significant savings for customers.

South Carolina Was Just Ranked The #1 Most Moved-To State in America

South Carolina has just claimed the top spot on the U-Haul Growth Index for 2024, marking the first time the state has led the rankings. The index measures net gains of one-way U-Haul customers across all 50 states, with South Carolina netting over 51.7% arrivals among U-Haul movers this year.

Texas, which held the top position for three consecutive years (2021–2023), ranks second, followed by North Carolina, Florida, and Tennessee. These southern states continue to attract movers, reinforcing their appeal for relocation. Florida has maintained a top-four spot since 2015, and Texas has ranked first or second every year since 2016.

Meanwhile, California experienced the highest net loss of movers, ranking last for the fifth consecutive year.

“Migration to the Southeast and Southwest continues as families gauge their cost of living, job opportunities, quality of life and other factors that go into relocating to a new state. Out-migration remains prevalent for a number of markets across the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast — and particularly California,” said U-Haul president John Taylor in a press release.

Other states with notable declines include Colorado (-31 spots), Nevada (-24), Wyoming (-22), and New Mexico (-21). On the other hand, Oklahoma (+30), Indiana (+19), and Maine (+18) saw the largest year-over-year growth.

The U-Haul Growth Index, based on over 2.5 million one-way truck, trailer, and moving container transactions annually, provides insights into migration patterns across the U.S., highlighting states’ changing popularity for relocation.
