North Carolina based Mayfair Hospitality has just announced plans to open one of the largest entertainment complexes in South Carolina inside The Thread facility.

ROAR Rock Hill will feature 17,000-square-foot of duckpin bowling, mini golf, arcade games, food, drinks, and live performance stages, all with a 1920s theme (think roaring 20s).

The Thread, where ROAR will be located, is part of Rock Hill’s downtown revitalization effort. This area was historically used for mills, manufacturing, and warehouses, but has been transformed into a vibrant space with restaurants, apartments, and retail outlets.

The massive Thread facility includes over 400,000 square feet of repurposed mill and warehouse space in the Knowledge Park district.

On The Thread’s website, they note the complex, “will seamlessly weave together and connect Old Town Rock Hill with Winthrop University and will serve as the creative destination for the community to come together to live, work, eat, shop and play.”

Here’s a quick video showing some of the transformation of the old mill:

The new ROAR facility inside of the Thread is expected to open in the summer of 2024.
