Video of Potential Ghost Sighting In North Carolina Now Being Shared Around The World

0

A couple visitors to North Carolina’s Tryon Palace just captured footage of eerie figure that people around the world are calling a ghost.

The footage shows what looks to be a semi-transparent woman wearing pilgrim-style clothes (the type that would have been worn when the home was being used as a plantation).

The figure appears very quickly in the video, which is then re-wound in slow-motion so you can get a good look;

Over half-a-dozen news sites around the world have since published the video over the weekend (most of them are from the UK), including; the Daily Mail, Metro.Co.UK, The InterrobangThe Sun UK and the Mirror.

The Sun quoted Danielle, who took the video, in saying; “The palace is actually known for being haunted. There was a fire there in 1798 and I believe it started where the servants used to live.”

“It was like she was see-through. You couldn’t see her back at all as it was mostly out of the picture.”

In spite of freaky titles that are being used to pump out the video, including; “MAID OF HORROR: Spooky footage shows ‘ghost’ of female servant stalking US mansion where she burned alive in 18th Century fire,” most people on social media have expressed doubt that the video shows an actual ghost.

Gaston County Created An Epic Drone Video For Its “Gaston Outside” Campaign

0

Over the past few decades, Gaston County has experienced the slowest growth rate in the entire Charlotte region – many people think of Gastonia as nothing more than an old mill town, and according to Urban Dictionary, ‘gas-house’ means; A city in North Carolina which is really Gastonia, the city with the most inmates on death-row in all of the state.

The Greater Gaston Development Corp. recently started a three-year, $900,000 marketing campaign in an attempt to change all that;

gaston outside campaignIn addition to the video, the new campaign will include billboards on interstates 85 and 75, online and print advertisements, and campaigns to foster job growth and new economic development. There will also be a push for more school funding, more job-training programs, and new bridges across the Catawba and South Fork rivers to relieve traffic bottlenecks into the county.

The Greater Gaston Development Corp has already raised over $1 million from Gaston County Travel and Tourism, the cities of Gastonia, Belmont, and Mount Holly, as well as several area businesses.

The new brand and image for Gaston County will be “Gaston Outside” – as in outside the bustle and expense of city life in Charlotte, home of outside activities such as hiking, rock climbing and boating and “outside the box”.

Old Shuford Mills Fire Will Burn For Another Week After 16 Fire Departments Battle Flames

0

A total of 16 fire departments from Caldwell, Catawba, and Burke counties joined forces to battle the fire in downtown Granite Falls late into Friday night.

The heat from the massive inferno was so hot that 12-15 nearby homes had to be evacuated.

According to the Hickory Record, “the Granite Falls Fire Department is continuing to contain the fire within the walls — but it is still smoldering. Firefighters are allowing the insides of the building burn itself out because it is too dangerous at this point to enter the warehouse.”

They think it will still burn for at least another week, after which they’ll start the investigation into what started the fire.

The warehouse had a total of 75,729 square feet, which housed several businesses including Smith Thread Sales, Foothills Community Workshop, and several other businesses using their space for storage.

The building was built out of thick timbers, and became soaked in the oil and lubricants of heavy machinery from the building’s 100 year history.

Panthers Terminate Michael Oher After Uber Driver Assault Allegations

0

michaeloherThe Carolina Panthers just announced the termination of “vested veteran/failed physical offensive tackle” Michael Oher – just days after the Panthers cut GM Gettleman and returned former GM Marty Hurey as their interim.

Oher was a key component of the Panther’s O-line, but he may be even more famous as the subject of the popular Sandra Bullock movie, “The Blind Side“.

He originally joined the Panthers roster back in 2015 and started all 16 regular season games and three postseason games his first year, helping to take the Panthers to the Superbowl. He started the first three games of last season before a concussion caused him to be placed on injured reserve.

Following the Panthers’ announcement, Oher tweeted. “The brain is a scary thing. You have to be careful with it.”

Oher was booked for assaulting an Uber driver in Nashville, TN back in early May. The police report claimed that Oher pushed him to the ground and kicked him in the leg.

Some now think that the controversy surrounding the alleged assault was a major reason for his termination from the Panthers.

On Friday he responded directly to the allegations from the Uber driver;

The ACLU Is Now Suing The State of North Carolina Over HB2’s Replacement Bill – HB142

roy-cooper-medicaidThe ACLU is now suing the state of North Carolina over the HB2 Replacement, HB142, which was passed on March 30th, 2017.

Even though new new bill repealed HB2, House Bill 142 also reinstates two provisions that were key features of the controversial HB2, including:

– Leaving bathroom access regulations up to the state legislature.

– Preventing local governments from passing or amending their own nondiscrimination ordinances relating to private employment and public accommodation until December 2020, but places no restrictions on them after that date.

HB142 does not reinstate any aspect of HB2’s prohibition of local governments from setting rules for private contractors regarding minimum wage and worker benefits

North Carolina’s ACLU and Lambda Legal say that parts of the new House Bill 142 law is discriminatory, preventing cities and counties from passing additional protections for the LGBT community.

According to the ACLU, “this lawsuit challenges a sweeping North Carolina law, House Bill 2…and its replacement law, HB 142, which left many of the harms caused by HB 2 in place.”

James Esseks, director of the ACLU LGBT Project commented, “This is not a repeal of HB 2. Instead, they’re reinforcing the worst aspects of the law. North Carolina lawmakers should be ashamed of this backroom deal that continues to play politics with the lives of LGBT North Carolinians.”

Tami Fitzgerald, director of the NC Values Coalition, had some equally harsh words for the ACLU and their lawsuit, “The ACLU and the transgender people they represent won’t stop until they force little girls to shower with grown men, share bathrooms, and indulge their fantasy. We’ve already seen what this leads to in other states and in Target, where bathroom policies like this facilitate peeping and require women and girls to “just get over it” when it comes to men in their bathrooms and showers.  This is insanity, and it defies common sense!”

What are you thoughts on HB2, HB142, and the ACLU’s lawsuit?
