Dave and Busters recently announced that they will be opening a new Pineville location and they’re now looking to hire over 230 new employees. Available positions include; servers, bartenders, hosts, line cooks, game techs and more.
This will be the companies 102nd location in the world and 2nd location in the Charlotte region (the other one is in the Concord Mills mall).
The new 28,500-square-foot entertainment complex is set to open this coming October in an outparcel building near the Carolina Place Mall.

Police arrested a North Carolina man Friday afternoon with attempting to incite a riot over a social media posts.
24-year-old Thomas Lee Jeffries of Graham, NC was taken into custody at around 1 p.m. after police spent 10 days searching for the man who posted “Let’s go tear the statue down” and “let’s just blow the whole courthouse up”.
The posts were referring to the Old Alamance County Courthouse and Confederate statue that stands out front of it.
In a press conference after Friday’s arrest, Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson commented, “Alamance County sheriff’s officers are not and will not take either side on the issue of the Confederate monument or anything else surrounding that issue. Our officers took an oath of office to protect the people and property of our county, state, and nation, and we intend to do exactly that.”
Officers are still investigating the other posts and comments left under Jeffries’ posts by other people.
“We will have zero tolerance against any crime here in Alamance County, regardless of where it is, surrounding the Confederate monument or anything else. This is a very serious business when you are talking about blowing a county courthouse up. We do not take this lightly, we will not take this lightly, and we will not stand back if you choose to try to attack property and lives in Alamance County,” commented Sheriff Johnson.
When asked if the local police placed any extra protections up for the courthouse and statue, he replied, “We are prepared. We are protecting the courthouse. We hope and pray everyday that we do not have the problems that some other areas of this state have. If we do, we are ready for whatever happens.”
Last night may have been one of the most anticipated boxing fights of all time, the legendary UFC Champion Conor McGregor taking on the undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather in his own sport.
To everyone’s surprise, McGregor came out swinging, but he also remained composed.
They traded blows for a few rounds before things started to get interesting.

After remaining patient through the first three rounds, Mayweather started his pounding in the fourth round and never let up. He pounded and charged and pounded some more until he finally beat McGregor into a bruised and swollen submission with a 10th-round technical knockout to win a fight that was surprisingly closer than most people thought it would be.
In the end, McGregor never really hurt Mayweather. He never even seemed to stun him. He only annoyed him while Mayweather sat back and let his plan take action. He let the guy who isn’t used to longer fights simply tire himself out before turning on his engines.
Over the past 10 years, craft brewing has skyrocketed throughout North Carolina, but one region in particular has grown faster than the rest. Lake Norman (primarily Huntersville and Cornelius) is now feeding local and national demand for unique and award winning pale ales, porters, and stouts.

Bayne Brewing Co., off West Catawba Avenue opened in December 2014, one of a slew of new beer businesses taking advantage of a 2013 zoning change that made it easier to open breweries and brewpubs in Cornelius. Town rules formerly classified breweries as industrial and prohibited microbreweries and taprooms from locating too close to schools or neighborhoods.
Cornelius Mayor Chuck Travis, town manager Anthony Roberts, and planning director Wayne Herron, were ahead of the microbrewery trend, seeing the future demand and encouraging local officials to change the ordinance.
Cornelius is also home to Ass Clown Brewing Co. (opened in 2011), D9 Brewing Co. (opened in 2014), Primal Brewery (opened in 2015), and Lake Norman Brewing Co., which opened several years ago on Barley Park Lane.
Beer lovers have also been flocking to the lake’s many bottle shops, which serve draft beer in their tasting rooms, in addition to selling craft brews for takeout. They’re one of the hottest new business types in Lake Norman, with recent openings including Ultimate Ales in Mooresville, Davidson Beverage Co. in Davidson, Old Town Public House, Cornelius Daft House, Bottled & Tapped in Cornelius, and The Crafty Beer Guys in Huntersville.
The first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since 2005 may be over 1,000 miles away, but the devastating category 4 storm will make its presence felt in the Queen City in a variety of ways.
Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport has already canceled dozens of flights, and have redirected several others to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Many passengers that were expected to fly through Charlotte on their way to Houston are now stuck here, waiting for redirected routes.
Drivers around the Charlotte region will also feel the effects of the storm, as gas prices are expected to climb by 10-15 cents now that refineries in Texas have shut down in the wake of the storm.
Dozens of people from the Charlotte region will be heading down to the hardest hit areas to help with relief efforts. The American Red Cross is sending 16 volunteers from Charlotte, and Samaritan’s Purse (headquartered in Boone) will be sending two tractor-trailers of supplies, along with several volunteers from the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (based in Charlotte).
Hurricane Harvey officially made landfall last night at around 9:45pm, and it’s expected to continue pummeling the state of Texas for at least the next 24 hours.
Amazon.com’s $13.7 billion takeover of Whole Foods will finalize on Monday, at which point the company will begin making several welcomed changes, according to a press release.
“Whole Foods Market will offer lower prices starting Monday on a selection of best-selling grocery staples across its stores, with more to come,” the company said in a statement.
The specific items that are scheduled to be marked down starting Monday include; organic avocados, organic brown eggs, organic salmon, almond butter, organic apples and organic rotisserie chicken. Amazon noted that they will continue to mark down more prices in the coming weeks and months, and that and that Amazon Prime members will get additional discounts at Whole Foods.
“Everybody should be able to eat Whole Foods Market quality — we will lower prices without compromising Whole Foods Market’s long-held commitment to the highest standards,” Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon Worldwide Consumer, said in a statement.

This decision to buy the specialty big-box grocer is in step with Amazon’s recent decisions to expand their home delivery grocery service, AmazonFresh, and their online grocery store, Prime Pantry. Charlotte just won the grand prize in Amazon’s new online crowd-sourced contest #TickSaveMyCity.
For their #TickSaveMyCity campaign, Amazon partnered with Tongal to ask Tick fans across America to make videos addressing a problem in their city that they think the Tick could solve.
“The Tick is always willing to help citizens in distress,” explains Mike Benson, U.S. Head of Marketing for Amazon Studios. “There is no problem that is too big or too small for him to handle.”
Out of the hundreds of videos submitted, one video from Charlotte was selected as one of the three finalists, and since it received the most ‘likes’ on Youtube, it ended up winning the grand prize earlier this month.

Cam Newton, Ryan Kalil, and Curtis Samuel took the field for the first time last night during their second preseason win against the Jacksonville Jaguars down in Jacksonville. Luke Kuechly also played in his second game after missing last week with sore ribs.
Newton was only in the game for a brief time, but he was able to throw for 21 yards and a touchdown – a great morale boost for his first time on the field since undergoing shoulder surgery.
“It was good. It was just a culmination of a lot of things, really,” Newton said. “A great week of practice; guys focusing in. It just showed. A lot of guys were anxious to produce, including myself.”
Our defense finished with three sacks in the first half, with Bryan Cox Jr. and Thomas Davis registering the other two sacks, confirming the likelihood of another strong defensive year for the Panthers.
Our second half wasn’t as promising as 2nd and 3rd string players filled the roster. We just narrowly walked away with the victory, finishing with a score of 24-23.
