10 Health Tips That Are Life-Changing

0

Are you looking for ways to improve your wellness and reduce health risks? With so many diets and supplements on the market, it can be difficult to know where to start. Going keto and getting into CrossFit sure sounds challenging—but should you go for it anyway?

Not necessarily.

You’ll see the biggest improvements in your health if you make small lifestyle changes that are easy to sustain.

Starting small dramatically increases the chance that you’ll stick with your new healthy habit. Below are our top ten life-changing tips for healthy living.

#1 Take a Probiotic

Do you ever experience indigestion, an upset stomach, or difficulty digesting certain foods? By supporting a healthy gut microbiome, a good probiotic can help with that, and do so much more. It can:

  • Decrease systemic inflammation
  • Improve mood and emotional health
  • Increase immunity

Scientists now believe that 70% of our immunity lives in our gut. Start nourishing yours!

#2 Try CBD

CBD is a powerful anti-inflammatory substance that can lower stress, help you sleep, and even reduce your aches and pains.

Incorporate CBD into your lifestyle by adding an oil to your morning cup of coffee, taking tablets, or eating CBD gummies whenever stress crops up.

#3 Get a Pet

Have you always wanted an animal companion? Spending time with a pet can help to:

  • Decrease stress
  • Boost mood
  • Lower blood pressure

Make sure your furry friend is calm and healthy, too, with CBD oil for cats and dogs.

#4 Strengthen Your Core

You already know exercise is great for your health. But whether your true passion is skiing, hiking, or ballet, be sure to throw some crunches into your routine.

Strengthening your core helps you find better balance, which will aid you as you start to age. In addition, Pilates and other ab-centric practices take pressure off of your shoulders, neck, and back—the places we most often experience soreness and pain. If you are looking for ways to loss weight and relieve stress, try this sauna blanket with infrared technology.

#5 Drink Water

What’s the key to health? It’s not juice. Not coffee. Definitely not soda. No. Instead, good old-fashioned water is unparalleled when it comes to:

  • Lubricating joints
  • Promoting skin health
  • Maintaining healthy blood pressure
  • Regulating your temperature
  • Helping digestion

…and more.

#6 Read Food Labels

Do you know what’s in your food? Most Americans consume the majority of their sugar, salt, and unhealthy cholesterol from processed food products.

Be sure to read labels on packaged food so that you really know what you’re eating. Does that take the fun out of your grocery shopping? Try a healthy food delivery service instead and have your groceries delivered right to your front door.

#7 Try Superfoods

Adding a few super-healthy ingredients or natural supplements to your daily routine may be an easy way to eat healthier without learning a whole new roster of recipes. Some of our favorites include:

  • Shiitake mushrooms
  • Avocado
  • Spirulina
  • Kale
  • Astragalus

#8 Get More Vitamin C

Speaking of superfoods—if there’s one vitamin you need more of in your diet, it’s Vitamin C. This powerhouse vitamin helps to heal wounds and repair tissue throughout your body.

People exposed to more environmental toxins (smoke, pollution, ozone) can benefit from taking powdered Vitamin C on a daily basis. It can also help to stock up during cold and flu season.

#9 Sleep More

Do you really need eight hours of sleep a night? Yes! A thousand times yes!

Getting sufficient shuteye is key to your overall health. Your sleep cycles give your body the rest it needs to repair damage, synthesize vital compounds, and store energy.  When you aren’t getting enough sleep, it can lead to:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Systemic inflammation
  • Depression

To get better sleep, set and stick to a firm bedtime.

#10 Stress Less

We know—this can be a tall order.

Hopefully, some of the above lifestyle changes help you eliminate any concern that you’re not taking good enough care of your body.

In addition to the above, be sure to do anything you can that helps you connect to your passions, and to the people you love. Quality time pays dividends for your relationships and for your health.

Setting Long-Term Health Goals

Where should you get started?

As you look at the above list, note a few lifestyle changes that it would be easy to make right away. Only jot down the items that you’re sure you could do consistently for 21 days.

Once you’ve integrated a few of these 10 life-changing strategies into your routine, you may soon find that you have extra energy and enthusiasm for trying a few more!

Dangerous Tegu Lizard Documented for The First Time in South Carolina

0

South Carolina has just documented its first Tegu Lizard in the wild.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) reported finding the large creature over the weekend in Lexington County, about 60 miles south of Charlotte.

They posted about the discovery on their Facebook page, noting that sightings of the creature have been on the rise around the state. “SCDNR staff have received multiple reports from Lexington and Aiken counties.”

The species, which are native to South America, can reach up to 4 feet and weigh over 10 pounds. They are powerful omnivores that hunt birds, mammals, and other reptiles. They also eat fruits, vegetables, insects and eggs.

SCDNR warns that the potentially invasive creatures could threaten several native species, spread exotic parasites, and even cause the bacterial contamination of crops.

Please report any sightings of black and white tegus in the wild to Andrew Grosse, grossea@dnr.sc.gov.

North Carolina Has Recorded 116 Earthquakes So Far This Month

0

Aftershocks from the largest North Carolina earthquake in over 100 years continue to rattle the region around Sparta, NC.

17 of those earthquakes measured 2.0 or larger on the richter scale, with the largest measuring 5.1 on August 9th (the last time a quake that large was detected was 1916).

The USGS’s ‘Did You Feel It’ map showed that people reported feeling the quake as far away as Alabama and Pennsylvania:

Because August 9th’s quake was so large, it’s aftershocks will likely continue for some time, and could even trigger other quakes around our state.

According to the USGA, “Aftershocks can continue over a period of weeks, months, or years. In general, the larger the mainshock, the larger and more numerous the aftershocks, and the longer they will continue.”

Earthquakes have been increasing in frequency around the Charlotte region over the past few years. Last year, we saw a 4.4 magnitude quake hit Decatur, TN, and a couple months ago, a 2.6 magnitude quake rocked a small town just north of Charlotte.

The Knight Foundation has just released a new report which explores what attaches residents to their communities, and found racial disparities in access to amenities in Charlotte.

The major findings are:

  • Likewise, 87% of Charlotteans say safe places to live, work and play are very important, and 75% report easy access to them. However, that figure drops to 68% for residents of color.
  • In Charlotte, 59% of residents say recreational areas such as parks and trails are very important to them, and 83% feel they are easy to access.

President Trump Coming To Charlotte Today On First Day of RNC Amid Protests and Arrests

0

The Republican National Convention officially begins today in Charlotte amid protests, arrests, and controversy in Uptown.

President Trump is scheduled to arrive in Charlotte today to meet with delegates, then travel to Asheville later in the day to give a speech at the Flavor First Growers and Packers organization headquarters.

Over the past 3 days, protests over the RNC have been growing in Uptown Charlotte.

Cryptocurrency Security; Ethereum Sees $1 Billon Coins Missing

0

One of the first questions on the minds of the public when it comes to the use of cryptocurrency is security. The lack of understanding regarding the functionality of blockchain coupled with the difficulty of finding a bitsize way of explaining it manifests as a sense of doubt among crypto newcomers. But blockchain is very secure. As we see with any financial system, there are always a few issues.

Research carried out by the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication, Peking University, Zhejiang University and the University of Queensland highlighted a vulnerability in an Ethereum blockchain relating to Ethereum tokens. The Ethereum tokens amount to a value of just over $1 billion, bringing to light the latest example of blockchain vulnerability. The discovery has caused quite a stir amongst Ethereum users, as tokens are smart contracts within the blockchain and cannot be reversed. However, It is understood that if cryptocurrency exchanges blacklist malicious tokens the contracts cannot be exchanged, which would solve the issue if it were to occur.

Despite these issues, cryptocurrency exchanges are booming at the moment. Trading platforms are easy to use and are becoming increasingly attractive to those who are looking to move away from traditional banking. There are many new cryptocurrency exchange markets cropping up online. Primexbt review the market and provide customers with an award-winning platform to exchange Bitcoin like running a Bitcoin full node. But it’s not just online exchanges that are capitalising on the prevailing popularity of cryptocurrency, some of the big financial players are also investing.

Just this week the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston (The Boston Fed), has taken a keen interest in various blockchain networks to see if they could support the dollar. The Boston Fed has been working with digital currency initiatives to establish whether a digital version of the dollar could function alongside traditional payment methods, rather than replacing them. It’s a step in the right direction for the integration of cryptocurrency into the public sphere. While full integration, and the possibility of replacing traditional payment systems, is a long way off, seeing central banks make strides towards building the foundations for cryptocurrency is welcomed.

While in the East we see China, the DCEP, China’s first digital currency, working on an initiative to bring blockchain into the public domain, and quickly – the team at Facebook Libra over in California are doing a similar thing. It’s all systems go, and there are constantly positive signs, but patience is key. The day we see the digital dollar is fast-approaching, but the public must be willing to embrace change. It seems governments and banking institutions are taking steps in the right direction.

The question remains, will the world adapt in these unprecedented times? This is the point of contention for so many among the cryptocurrency community. Although, this has been the case for so long; it seems now more than ever the world is adapting to perpetual change on an almost daily basis and this may well be the time for cryptocurrency to step into the foreground.
