Who Wrote the Gospel of John?

0

The question of who wrote the gospel of John is quite a challenging one. You may answer, of course, it’s John! Yes, certainly, but which John? Bear in mind that a handful of names were widely typical in the first century of Israel. Some of those names include Simon, Judas, James, and John. The frequency with which-h they arise in historical writings, such as Scripture, makes it difficult to sort out who is “who.”

Apart from that, the first-century Jews didn’t have any last names. Sometimes, a person goes by many different names. Simon son of John, Simon, son of Jonah, Simon, Simeon, Cephas, Peter, Simon Peter. All of these are all the same individual.

Thus, who wrote the gospel of John?

The author of the gospel of John is…

The Gospel of John indicates an eyewitness wrote into the ministry of Christ. It’s somewhat sarcastic that the gospel of John—of all the other Gospels—is the only one that points to its author, yet it does not name him. You may be wondering, why?

Well, the author himself was known to be the first reader. It wasn’t needed to say his name in a sense, but there might have been various reasons for that. One likelihood is that the author keeps himself nameless and unacknowledged out of humility, acknowledging himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved.

Furthermore, he may be making himself a symbol for every one of his readers, all of whom Christ loves. He might have wanted to be unidentified, as he was writing in risky times so that he didn’t get in trouble together with the authorities. The strategy might not have worked.

Nonetheless, if he is the author of Revelation, he ended up being imprisoned on the island of Patmos. It’s somewhat stimulating that of all the books associated with John, the book of Revelation is the only book that names its authors. The most surprising part here is that the book was made after he was exiled.

The most common view is that the Gospel of John was written by John the Apostle. In 21:20, he put the author among the core groups of Jesus’ disciples. It’s also an easy step from there to determine that he is one of the twelve.

What is the purpose of John’s gospel?

John does not provide the details that the synoptic gospels recorded some thirty years before. However, he provides the information that is needed to confirm the essential truths of the gospel. He begins his gospel with the principle that what had persuaded him would persuade others too. The synoptic gospels show the Messiah-ship of Jesus inductively, but John positively announces that truth in the first chapter and then presents the evidence.

When he wrote the gospel at the close of the first century, three main concerns threatened the Christian church. Those were fading godliness, persecution, and heresy. Thus, John, the survivor of the twelve apostles, was convicted of writing a book to help the believers see a clearer picture of the Savior. He wanted to encourage their faith in the incarnation, the deity, and the real Savoir of humanity. He wanted to show the ideal life, the sacrificial death, the resurrection, and the second coming of Jesus as well.

What’s the difference between the gospel of John to other synoptic gospels?

The book of John differs from those synoptic gospels in that it chronicles nothing of such events as the experience in Gethsemane, the transfiguration, or even the baptism. As an alternative, big portions of the gospel cover controversial discourses in the template Jerusalem and the last meeting of Jesus Christ with the disciples on the night of the crucifixion.

In that respect, the gospel complements the synoptic gospels, and the miracles it records specifically prove the divinity of the son of God.

Keep in mind that John first verifies that he was an eyewitness to Jesus by saying in John 1:14 that, “We beheld His glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” Moreover, as an eyewitness, he confirms that he could tell many more, like in John 20:30, saying, “And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book.”

You see, the keyword of the gospel is the “word.” John grants Jesus as the incarnate expression of God, which made salvation a lot more possible. John also refers to the truth that Jesus Christ came as the living expression of the Father’s character, will, and mind and shows it in twenty-six instances.

He also highlights Him as the Creator of everything and the source of life and truth. He also concentrates on the necessity of believing the truth about Christ, using the word “believe.”

Conclusion

Therefore, we can tell that the purpose of John is not so much historical or biographical, as it is theological. If you’re interested in purchasing this book, check out alabaster co.

What’s the Average Cost of Building a Retaining Wall?

0

If you want a retaining wall, it’s best to know how much to budget for. With this Angi, formerly Angie’s List, guide, you can get an estimation as to the cost of the type of wall you want built. Retaining walls become a focal point, so they should look good as well as being functional. They may be made out of a number of different materials, and they vary a lot in length as well as quality. All of this will be reflected in the price.

The Average Cost of a Retaining Wall

The average cost of building a retaining wall is $5,650. You can expect to spend anywhere from $3,230 to $8,670 for most retaining walls. The exact cost has a lot to do with the labor cost of the crew and the materials that are used as well as the height and thickness of your wall. If you have a low-end project, it might cost as little as $1,250, and a high-end wall can be as much as $14,000. If you want a lot of upgrades to your wall or you want a high-quality finish, expect to pay more.

The Cost of Labor

One of the larger costs is the labor needed to build the wall. The average labor cost for this project is from $50 to $75 an hour. If you want to calculate it by the square foot of the wall, expect to pay about $10 to $50 each, depending on which materials are used in it. There are some materials that are much easier to install and some that are much harder. The cost you will pay for labor often depends on how difficult the job is and how hard the installation is. Poured concrete walls and dry stacked stone can be hard to do, and you can expect to pay $60 to $80 for each of these. Concrete bricks can run you $60 to $90 while concrete blocks are $60 to $75. Wood and railroad ties may only be from $15 to $75, and stone veneer can be anywhere from $30 to $80.

The Cost of the Location

If your wall needs extra care to get it built, you can expect a higher hourly rate for the labor. The reinforcement needed for the wall as well as any scaffolding that is needed and the removal of the fencing that is already there can increase the labor costs. Whether the wall needs a lot of special attention can also depend on where the wall is located.

If the retaining wall is built in a landscaped area, you can expect to pay about $30 to $150 for each linear foot. If the retaining wall will be a part of the driveway, you will pay an average of $50 to $150 for each linear foot. If your retaining wall is next to the sea or a lake, the cost will average from $125 to $200 for each linear foot.

The Cost of the Materials

There are a lot of materials that can be used to build a retaining wall, and some of them are simply more expensive than others. A high degree of durability is often associated with a higher cost. Stone, brick, steel and I-beams tend to be on the more expensive side, but they are extremely durable and tend to look high-end. If you are looking for a lower-cost retaining wall, you might consider getting a wall made from railroad ties, rammed earth, wood and timber, and inexpensive varieties of gabion and stone. Before you choose a material, think about how visible the wall will be and what you will want to look at when you see it.

If you’re thinking about hiring a retaining wall installer for your project, visit Angi to get quotes from contractors in your area. Then, start gathering ideas for the wall you want and start budgeting.

Internet breakthroughs: Twitter Spaces, Omegle, Caffeine

0

2020 turned out to be very controversial and difficult for the entire planet. But in spite of everything it also clearly showed how important it is for a modern person not to lose touch with loved ones, to communicate and not be closed off from the outside world. We’re very lucky that in this time of mass self-isolation, the Internet was able to offer a lot of opportunities for communication and online entertainment.

In just a few months we’ve seen millions of people go online to study, work, and play. New online services began to appear, the functionality of familiar sites and online platforms expanded, and completely new formats were created, which just a few years ago would not have aroused the interest of any audience. Let’s look at those online services that have become a real salvation for people in 2020 and remain trendy right now. It’s sure to be interesting!

Twitter Spaces — the ideological successor to Clubhouse

First, let’s say a few words about Clubhouse. This is a social network in which you can communicate only by voice. At one point, Clubhouse attracted a lot of public attention and became a truly hype platform. An important role in this was played by Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, who became one of the first major media personalities in the Clubhouse. And although the wave of popularity of this platform passed very quickly, the audio communication format itself was well received by the Internet community. Therefore, other platforms hastily began to implement something similar. Twitter Spaces an exact ideological successor to Clubhouse.

Twitter Spaces allows you to create audio rooms that any Twitter user can join as a listener. You can also invite other people via alink. There can be up to 11 speakers in a room at the same time (including the presenter). The rest are listeners. The presenter can, at their discretion, provide access to the microphone to some of their listeners.

Overall, Twitter Spaces isn’t too different from Clubhouse. But its audience is much larger due to the age and established popularity of the microblogging platform itself. On top of that, Clubhouse was initially available only for iOS and exclusively by invitation. Twitter Spaces did not have such restrictions, which played a decisive role.

Omegle and the sudden rise in popularity of its alternatives

Omegle video chat is in a slightly different situation. This platform has been operating since 2009 and during its existence has repeatedly experienced ups and downs in popularity. But it was in 2020 that we saw a particularly strong jump. Before the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic there were usually up to 15,000 people online in video chat, but now this number often exceeds 35,000 users. That’s an increase of more than three times.

Along with Omegle, its alternatives have grown in popularity. Let’s consider some of the most interesting of them.

Camsurf

Despite its comparative simplicity, the anonymous video chat service Camsurf is a very interesting alternative to Omegle. First, there’s a gender filter, and you can choose not only “Man” or “Woman”, but also “Couple” or “Transgender”. Secondly, Camsurf has user-friendly official iOS and Android apps. And thirdly, the service is constantly being improved and modernized. Recently it launched premium features including hiding your location, a verification badge, adding links to social networks, an introductory welcome message, and so on. There is also a field for entering interests, a safe search function, a choice of communication language, and more.

Bazoocam

Bazoocam is by no means a new clone of Omegle. Initially, this video chat site was just popular in France, but in recent years, users from other countries have also seen value in it. Although the site looks rather outdated, it offers several unique features.

In Bazoocam, you can play mini-games with other users, search for chat partners by location and, most importantly, conduct video broadcasts or watch broadcasts from other users of the platform. Be aware that most of these broadcasts are quite explicit and are intended only for an adult audience.

Chatrandom

A very popular Omegle alternative with an extensive feature set. There is a convenient gender filter, search by interest, themed chat rooms and a separate gay chat area. Also in Chatrandom there’s a chat with girls feature, but access to it is paid.

Chatrandom, unlike Omegle, has a modern design, branded mobile apps and better moderation. But the general principle of operation of these sites is similar.

CooMeet

CooMeet stands out among the other listed video chats. It’s a unique anonymous video chat service designed primarily for a male audience. Each girl must confirm her identity when registering, so coomeet.com/omegle connects men only with verified girls.

CooMeet is the perfect place for those who want to chat with the opposite sex, flirt or even find a mate for a serious relationship. There are no fakes or bots, excellent moderation, a user-friendly website and branded applications for iOS and Android. You can try all the features of video chat for free, and only then decide whether you are ready to pay for full access to the service.

Caffeine streaming platform and its unique features

The Caffeine streaming platform is called the “Twitch killer” by many. And this has a grain of truth to it. It’s not just that Twitch has become too restrictive, and added strange rules for the safety of users and use of the service. Caffeine has also attracted attention because 21st Century Fox has invested in its development, and in 2019, the NAVI esports team announced a partnership with them.

Even despite all this, Caffeine still has a lot of disadvantages. The proprietary Caster program is not reliable, and you can only broadcast games from an approved list if you don’t use a video capture card. But Caffeine has a simple setup, transparent tools for making money on streams and a loyal user community.

So far, Caffeine falls short of Twitch in terms of the number of users and audience activity. And the number of viewers even for the top streamers here is lower than their audience on Twitch. Nevertheless, the service has great prospects. If Twitch continues to implement restrictions and increasingly control streamers, it will only be a matter of time before they move to other sites.

What will be the next internet breakthrough?

Nobody knows this. After all, who could have predicted at one time that a kind of “Twitter with photos” alternative called Instagram would soon change the Internet forever and become one of the most popular online platforms? Could anyone have thought that in 2020 a social network would explode in which you can communicate only by voice? Indeed, everyone is already tired of voice messages…

The Internet is changing faster than we can adapt to these changes. Unusual new projects appear, and once popular ones disappear into oblivion. We just have to keep our finger on the pulse, try new things and discover original formats for online communication. And every year brings more and more of them.

A Beginner’s Guide to Using Air Fryer

0

People have started raving about this new kitchen appliance. Most of them swear by the air fryer and claim that their lifestyle improved to a large extent. The majority of people love this device as they can eat healthier alternatives to deep-fried food.

Who does not want a guilt-free snack that also tastes good? This can drive anyone to get an air fryer for themselves. As a soon-to-be or recent owner of an air fryer, it is normal to have some questions. Like how do you operate an air fryer, and how does it work? Does it fry your favorite snacks? Here is an easy guide to walk you through the world of air fryers.

Are Air Fryers Deep Fryers?

To be clear, air fryers are not deep fryers. This may seem disappointing, but that is not the case. This equipment has a lot to offer. Air fryers are full of hot air;  this heated air cooks your food and gives out various textures, and crispy is one of them.

You could consider air fryers as small ovens that are very powerful. Like ovens, air fryers use air to distribute the heat, cooking up your dish evenly. On the other hand, deep fryers use fats or oils to distribute heat and cook your food.

Since air fryers are not like conventional deep fryers, the onion rings that will come out of the oven will not be exactly like those that come out of traditional fast food joints or normal fryers at home. However, the rings will be delicious nevertheless. It is a good alternative and a healthier option.

The best features of air fryers are that they do not require much oil, and they create a lesser mess than regular fryers. These powerful ovens can do a lot more than whip up faux-fried food.

They can churn out delectable chicken wings with the perfect caramelization, crispness, and crackle on the skin with juicy meat inside. They also make vegetables delicious as they can brown them beautifully.

You can even make decadent light and airy cakes with an air fryer. You could say it is a little machine where you can make all the courses of your meal. You will find a wide range of tasty snacks, desserts, meat, and vegetable recipes on the internet.

Different Types of Air Fryers

There are different types of air fryers available on the market. The most common and also the most affordable one is the basket air fryer. The basket air fryer looks like a futuristic coffee maker with a detachable basket in the lower half. This basket air fryer has only one function, and that is air frying.

Other air fryers that are available have more functions besides air frying. These multifunctioning air fryers look like glorified toaster ovens. In addition to air frying, they can also dehydrate, toast, and slow cook. Moreover, they can hold larger amounts of food than the typical basket ones. Since they have more functions, they also come with a higher price tag.

This guide will cover the basics of a basket air fryer, but if you have a multifunction air fryer or an oven with the air frying option, there will be some valuable tips that you can use as well.

How do Air Fryers Function?

As mentioned earlier, an air fryer is like a small and strong oven. It is an exceptional convection oven where you can broil, roast, and bake your favorite foods. However, unlike the name it has been given, it doesn’t fry or deep fry.

The airflow in basket air fryers is designed in such a way that it mimics the heat distribution of deep frying in hot oil. It uses the convection of hot air to cook the food items. Other types of air fryers also use the convection of heated air.

What to Do Before Using Your Air Fryer

After unboxing your new air fryer, disassemble all the removable components. In basket air fryers, the basket is removable. There is a perforated tray inside the basket at its bottom. Remove the tray as well. You need to wash the basket and the tray.

Rinse them thoroughly and make sure that you are not leaving behind any soapy residue. After rinsing, dry them well. You need to ensure that they are completely dry before using them. It is strongly recommended to place any air fryer on a heat-resistant surface and at least eight inches away from the wall.

Put the dried basket and grate back into the machine. It is wise to give a glance at the manual of the air fryer. Some manufacturers instruct to run the air fryer empty for the first 10 minutes before using them for the first time. This will eliminate the “new appliance smell,” preventing any funky chemical smell on the foods that will be cooked inside later.

This firing up the empty air fryer is only needed once and should be done before you start using it. It is also wise to let the vents and windows open when you are running the fryer empty. Now that your new kitchen appliance is ready to use, you can now cook up various meals.

Factors to Consider When Using Air Fryer

When you are about to use an air fryer, you need to keep in mind a few factors when operating it.

  • The grate or perforated tray should always be present in the basket when you cook in the air fryer. The tray allows the circulation of hot air around the food. It also prevents the food from sitting in excess oil.
  • Air fryers are quite loud. The whirring motor or fans can be heard when it is turned on. Do not get alarmed by the loud noise it makes when using it for the first time.
  • Air fryers still require hands-on cooking. They can not cook the food evenly on their own. You need to shuffle the food around at intervals, especially when you are browning or broiling.
  • You can pull the basket out to take a peek. It can be done at any point in the cooking process. There is no need to turn off the appliance when taking out the basket for a peek. The machine automatically shuts off when the basket is removed.
  • When putting the basket into the appliance, you need to make sure that it is properly aligned and pushed in. Otherwise, the air fryer will not be turned on. You will understand that it is not switched on by the indicator light and the lack of whirring noise.
  • In air fryers, the food cooks faster than you anticipate. This is one of the best perks of having this cooking device. keep in mind that the less amount of food is in the basket, the less time it will take to cook.

The more food you have in the basket, the more time it will take to cook. Most manufacturers provide a manual or guide with a convenient table of the cooking temperatures and times for common foods like chicken and potatoes.

  • A slightly lower temperature is sufficient enough for cooking a certain dish. Many air fryer recipes instruct to use lower temperature settings than one would expect. This might seem suspicious, and you will feel that it is some typing error. Just go with the recipe and follow it.

Since the air gets hot in the air fry quickly, some recipes call for lower temperature settings to prevent the food from getting too crispy or burnt on the outside with the inside uncooked.  Such low temperatures ensure that the food is cooked properly with the perfect textures and exteriors.

The Real Capacity of Basket Air Fryers

You must be aware that you cannot fit a large amount of food in basket air fryers. Since the capacity is small, it is best that you also accept that it is very likely that you will not have any leftovers by cooking only one batch.

Air fryers with 1.75 to 3-quart capacity are ideal for making meals for one or two people. A large air fryer has the capacity of about 4 to 5 quarts. You will still need to cook in batches to feed more than two people.

It is best if you accept the limited capacity and use your air fryer within its limits. By doing so, your air fryer will last longer and will face little or no issues.

What Foods to Cook in An Air Fryer

Dry heat is used for cooking foods in air fryers. Hence, think of foods that can be cooked properly with dry heat like baking, roasting, and frying. You can make baked tater tots, reheat leftover pizza, crispy chicken tenders, and many more. You can also experiment with previously-fried frozen food like chicken nuggets and d pizza rolls.

Air frying such snacks is healthier than frying them up in the traditional way. You can also cook from scratch. You can make grilled chicken wings, air-fried mozzarella sticks, and many more. With an air fryer, it is also easy to be health-conscious. You can stick to your keto diet and try out various keto recipes.

Final Thoughts

Air fryers revolutionized the cooking practices of the millennia. You can indulge in yummy munchies made from this appliance without any guilt. They are also quite hassle-free.

You can make your favorite snacks with the kids and spend quality time with your family by spending less time cooking. Just remember to keep account of the capacity and the temperature settings, and you are good to go.

You can also use an old canoe as a beautiful planter for your home garden. Firstly, find the right spots, and then all you would need to do is, add soil and plants, and you will be good to go.

  • Decorative piece

If you have big empty wall space in your home, leave the canoe as it is and hang it down from the ceiling. It can work as your relaxing rocking bed, and can also be your perfect hammock space to relax and unwind.

  • Home storage unit

You can cut down one side of the canoe bought from thrift stores in Charlotte and then set it up to use as a storage space for your living room, dining room, etc. These storage units would look equally great in every other room of your house.

  • Cooler

If you have a big yard or garden space, and you want to enjoy some great time outdoors, then take a canoe and use it as a cooler by filling it with ice. It would be a great addition to your summer parties.

  • Table

Don’t want to invest in an outdoor table? Then turn your canoe upside down and use it as a small table. It would look great if you have considerable outdoor space or lakefront property. You might need to make modifications so that it is stable.

  • Pond

Using an old canoe is a brilliant way to create an artificial pond in your garden area. Fill it with water, and then add plants or other natural decorative items. You can be sure to receive compliments on your innovative aesthetic sense.

  • Bed

You can go ahead a bit more with your creativity and turn your old canoe into a beautiful bed for your kids. This would not only give the room a new look, but it would also give your child a whole new experience.

So, these are some of the ways how you can artistically repurpose a canoe. Whether you keep it inside or outside your house, be sure that it will lend a whole new outlook and fetch compliments about your sense of aesthetics!

Panthers End Losing Streak in 19-13 Win Against Atlanta Falcons

0

After a depressing 4-game losing streak, the Panthers finally won a game, and to make the win even sweeter, it was against division rivals, the Falcons.

We ran the ball 47 times for a total of 203 yards. QB Sam Darnold threw 13-24 for 129 yards, but was tragically taken out of the game in the 4th quarter with a concussion.

The Carolina defense forced 2 interceptions by Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan, with a key one being made by top linebacker Shaq Thompson.

“We have to play like this every week,” linebacker Shaq Thompson said in a press conference after the game. “It can’t be one side or the other; we have to pick each other up and really support each other. What you guys probably didn’t notice, when the offense was on the field, the defense was up. When the defense was on the field, the offense was up. That was big. That’s what we want to build this culture around.”

Here are the highlights from yesterday’s game:
