South Carolina Nightclub Shooter Stopped By Man With A Concealed Weapon

playoffz nightclub shootingAccording to Fox’s WISTV, a man with a concealed handgun permit just stopped a shooter at a nightclub in South Carolina this week.

Early on Sunday morning, a man began to fire into a crowd at a nightclub just outside of Spartanburg. Deputies said 32-year-old Jody Ray Thompson fired several rounds toward a crowd that had gathered out in front of Playoffz nightclub.

“His rounds struck 3 victims, and almost struck a fourth victim, who in self-defense, pulled his own weapon and fired, striking Thompson in the leg. Thompson was still on the scene when deputies arrived, but the initial scene was chaotic. It wasn’t until victims and witnesses were interviewed, and video from the scene was reviewed that Thompson was identified as the suspect.” Lt. Kevin Bobo remarked.

Thompson has now been charged with four counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful carrying of a weapon – he’s currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

President Obama Will Be Coming To Charlotte With Hillary Clinton Next Week

Updated: 7/1/2016

The Clinton campaign will be visiting Charlotte with President Obama this coming Tuesday. They will both be speaking at the Charlotte Convention Center in Center City on July 5th from 2pm-5pm. Doors will open at 1pm. For more information, or to register click here.

The secret service will be shutting down several major roads between the airport and the convention center before and after the event.

This will be President Obama’s first appearance on the 2016 Democratic campaign trail with Hillary Clinton.

The president was previously scheduled to join his former secretary of state in Green Bay, Wisconsin two weeks ago, but a deadly shooting in Orlando forced the campaign to postpone the event.

Earlier this month, the president endorsed Clinton in a surprisingly emphatic manner (in light of their many disagreements over the years, and a rivalry for the Democratic nomination in 2008), telling Americans;

“I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office. I have seen her judgment. I’ve seen her toughness. I’ve seen her commitment to our values up close, I’m with her. I am fired up and I cannot wait to get out there and campaign for Hillary.”

Immediately after the presidents endorsement of Clinton, Donald Trump warned him against hitting the campaign trail for his rival during his Virginia rally earlier this month;

“We have a president that doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing, folks. I hear he’s going to take a lot of time, during our time, when he’s supposed to be looking at trade and the military and all of these things, and he’s going to campaign for Crooked Hillary. You know what? That’s okay. That’s okay. Because if he does that, we’re allowed to say things about him that normally we wouldn’t bring up. Remember when Bill started campaigning?”

N.C. Attorney General Roy Cooper, the Democratic candidate in the upcoming NC governor race, will also be joining Obama and Clinton at the event next Tuesday in Charlotte.

Similar to President Obama’s last visit in April of last year, the secret service will likely shut down all Charlotte roads coming to and from the event.

We will be updating this article as new information comes in.

New Changes To HB2 Might Keep The NBA All Star Games In Charlotte

pat mccrory new Hb2 changesThe NC House of Representatives is in talks of proposing a new bill that would make significant changes to the controversial HB2 (House Bill 2).

At this point, the new revision is rumored to include;

– Adopting federal ant-discrimination standards
– Creating a certificate of sex reassignment
– Implementing Harsher penalties for bathroom crimes
– Creating an anti-discrimination task force

The new “certificate of sex reassignment” would allow transgender persons who’ve had reassignment surgery to use the bathroom they identify with, but the new draft doesn’t address those who identify as transgender, but haven’t had the surgery, or those who may pose as transgenders in order to gain access to the bathrooms of the opposite sex.

The tougher penalties for crimes in bathrooms included in the new draft would significantly increase the jail time and penalties for sexual predators who commit crimes in bathrooms. The new legislation also includes a newly proposed anti-discrimination task force, which would be dedicated to removing anti-discrimination throughout the state.

These potential changes come as the state reels from negative publicity from HB2, including significant pressure from the NBA with the threat of them pulling the All-Star games out of Charlotte.

“There’s still a lot of work to do before we get to a final product. And a lot of meetings to be had and a lot of discussion to be had. And this is a work in progress, a collaborative effort,” commented Representative Charles Jeter.

What do you think of the potential changes?

3 Rock Hill Store Owners Are Now In Federal Court For Stealing Over $5 Million

rock hill shop owners steal over $5 millionAccording to the most recent federal grand jury indictments, Li Fang Phu, Hoang Long Huu Nguyen, and Dianne Margaret Phu, all store owners in Rock Hill, have been charged with defrauding the federal government of $5,850,733.

The court documents show that the 3 men perpetrated the scheme at the former Gas on the Spot store on South Cherry Road, and at the Daily Express Mart on Wilson Street (also known as T & D Food Mart LLC), across the street from the Rock Hill Housing Authority, and two blocks from the Rock Hill Police Department.

The three men have also been charged with wire fraud for exchanging food stamps for cash. Prosecutors claim that the men repeatedly accepted food stamps for cigarettes, beer, and gas (one charge shows the acceptance of $59 in food stamps for a bottle of beer and a pack of cigarettes).

Food stamps, technically called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, are a federal program that gives assistance to the poor for food purchases only. Food stamps by law are not allowed to be used for non-food items.

The three suspects allegedly used signs, signals and other subtle clues to alert customers that they accepted food stamps for unapproved items. Li Phu faces one felony count; Nguyen faces two counts, and Dianne Phu is charged with three felonies. The charges now carry up to five years in prison for each count, and they might have to forfeit any property or proceeds “derived from or traceable to” the alleged fraud – including their stores.

The men’s federal court trial is now set for July 6th.

After 4 Break-Ins In Under 1 Week – NoDa Business Owners Are Taking Things Into Their Own Hands

noda break ins

Several NoDa business owners have had their windows smashed, doors busted down, and money stolen over the past week. The NoDa company store last week, and Cabo Fish Taco, Jack Beagles and the Crepe Cellar this past weekend.

According to the police report, a large rock was thrown through the front window of the Crepe Cellar around 5:30 a.m. Sunday to make entry. The thief then grabbed the cash register and took off in a black Jeep Cherokee.

A register with little cash inside was also stolen from Cabo Fish Taco, according to one of the workers.

Here’s the video from the break-in at the NoDa Company Store, where you can clearly see the perp’s face:

Police now think that all three of the break-ins are linked, and a few of the business owners think they were all done by the same person.

Local residents are now working to organize a round-the-clock neighborhood watch to catch the thief.

Joey Hewell, the co-owner of the Company Store, just posted a call to action on his Facebook profile;

If you have any information that could lead to an arrest, please call the police.
