Chicago and the Doobie Brothers are now planning on returning to Charlotte this summer to rock out the PNC Music Pavilion in North East Charlotte. They will become some of the oldest touring bands to ever play in Charlotte.
Chicago was originally formed in Chicago, IL in 1967, and has been pumping out chart-toppers ever since. Billboard recently classified them as one of the “greatest of all time”in both singles chart success, and album chart success as well, having sold more than 100 million records.
The Doobie Brothers were founded around the same time as Chicago, seeing the peak of their career in the 1970s. They have sold an impressive 40 million records since then.
Their newly announced 2017 summer tour will start in early June and run through the end of July, mark the latest in a series of joint tours between the bands, which are among a growing list of veteran acts that have teamed up for package outings in recent years. ““The perfect summer line-up, playing dozens of the best-loved rockin’ pop classics,” commented Chicago co-founder Robert Lamm. “I’m happy to be hangin’ out with our ‘Doobie’ friends … a great band.”
The bands will be packing out the PNC Music Pavilion on June 24th, 2017.
The Charlotte Independance soccer team just released the official video of NFL star Randy Moss signing his new contract with the minor league team.
“Pending United Soccer League (USL) and U.S. Soccer approval, the 40-year-old rookie will wear number 84 for the Independence,” according to today’s press release.

Yesterday North Carolina lawmakers passed a new bill to repeal the highly controversial HB2, or “The Bathroom Bill”. Over the past year, many businesses, sporting events, and musicians cited the bill as their reason for not coming to our state.
The state’s new House Bill 142 was signed into law just 12 hours after it was agreed upon by state leaders. The NC Senate passed it with a 32-16 vote, then the House with a 70-48 vote, and just two hours after that, Democratic Governor Roy Cooper signed the new bill into law.
In a press release, he commented, “For over a year now, House Bill 2 has been a dark cloud hanging over our great state. It has stained our reputation. It has discriminated against our people and it has caused great economic harm in many of our communities.”
He also noted that the new law is “not a perfect deal and it is not my preferred solution.”
Even though it does technically repeal HB2, House Bill 142 also reinstates two provisions that were key features of the controversial HB2, including:
– Leaving bathroom access regulations up to the state legislature.
– Preventing local governments from passing or amending their own nondiscrimination ordinances relating to private employment and public accommodation until December 2020, but places no restrictions on them after that date.
HB142 does not reinstate any aspect of HB2’s prohibition of local governments from setting rules for private contractors regarding minimum wage and worker benefits
Lake Norman is known for its incredible spring fishing, but lately locals have been catching some truly monster catfish, even with all the increased boating activity. Many are attributing this to the low water levels around the lake.
A recent article by the North Carolina Sportsman details some powerful tips on how to catch some of the biggest monsters in the lake, “…knowing how to use your boat’s electronics is one of the biggest factors when trolling for catfish.”

John Royce “Johnny” Mathis is an American singer of popular music and jazz. Starting his career with singles of standard music, he became highly popular as an album artist, with several dozen of his albums achieving gold or platinum status and 73 making the Billboard charts to date. Mathis has now sold well over 100 million records worldwide.
He’ll be performing live at the Oven’s Auditorium this coming Friday night starting at 8pm.
Thursday is an American post-hardcore band, formed in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1997. The band consisted of Geoff Rickly, Tom Keeley, Steve Pedulla, Tim Payne, Andrew Everding, and Tucker Rule.

Cavendish Brewery chose to locate in the old Craig Dodge automotive dealership at 207 N. Chester St to not only help revitalize that part of town, but to also give them plenty of room to expand in the future.
They will specialize in “Old World Beers”, featuring a number of styles previously unseen or unknown to the Charlotte metro area, including a Belgian Blonde, an India Pale Lager, Robust Porter, IPA and a Dampfbier. They will feature a total of 16 taps that will include many rotating seasonal brews as well.
On April 22nd, from 12pm – 10pm, they will be hosting a grand opening celebration that will be family and pet friendly, with food trucks and music for all.
A Rock Hill man was just charged with assault by Rock Hill police after he disciplined his daughter with a belt because she broke curfew, according to the police report.
Rock Hill Police Department officers arrived at the Feely home at about 2 a.m. on Saturday morning after an anonymous report was called in.
36 year old Sekari Arrie Feely, told officers his daughter “was late for curfew and when she arrived home he struck her with a belt.”
Police have since notified the South Carolina Department of Social Services about the incident – they are now reviewing the case.

A global tire manufacture is now moving to Concord, NC.
Yokohama Tire just announced it will be moving its R&D facility to Concord’s International Business Park.
They said they plan on hiring at least 56 people with an average salary of over $80k per year.
The company will be receiving a $150,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, in exchange for their new economic development. They’ll also receive about $136,625 from Concord and Cabarrus County in the form tax reductions over a 5 year period.
N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory commented in a press release that the state’s “leadership in motorsports and automotive components” brought Yokohama to Concord.
The new office will be hiring engineers, technicians, management staff and others in 21,400 square feet at 4715 Corporate Drive in Concord.
