Carolina Panthers’ 2019 Schedule Released – First ‘Home Game Sandwich’ in 10 Years

Last year the Carolina Panthers started off the season strong, with a 6-2 record on November 5th…but the season quickly took a bad turn…really bad. With increasing arm problems and unreliable receivers, Cam Newton led the Panthers to 7 straight losses between November 8th and December 23rd. They did manage to beat the Saint’s second string during their last game of the season on Dec. 30th to finish with a 7-9 record.

But all that is in the past…a new season is almost here!

The Panthers will be starting and ending their 25th season right here in Charlotte – the first time this has happened in over 10 years.

Our first regular season game will be Sunday, September 8 against the reigning NFC champion Rams and our last game will be Sunday, December 29 against the reigning NFC South champion Saints – both games will be played at home.

Here is the full schedule for the Carolina Panther’s 2019 season;

Charlotte’s Lockwood Named The 3rd Fastest-Gentrifying Neighborhood in America

A new study has been published by Realtor.com that examines the trend of gentrification (drastic price increases in low-income areas) in cities across the country. The controversial phenomena benefits investors and homeowners, while also driving up rental prices for low-income families, forcing many out of the neighborhoods they grew up in.

To determine the 10 Fastest-Gentrifying Neighborhoods in America, the site examined lower-income ZIP codes in America’s 100 largest cities, then ranked them based on the changes in median household income, median home sale price, and the percentage of residents with bachelors and masters degrees between 2012 and 2017.

Out of the thousands of areas they analyzed, Charlotte’s Lockwood neighborhood ended up ranking #3 in the nation, just a few points behind Miami’s Little Haiti (#2) and Detroit’s Rivertown (#1).

They found that Lockwood’s current median list price is $280,000, which has increased 100.9% over the past 5 years, median household income has increased 28.5% over the past 5 years, and the share of people with bachelor or higher degrees increased by 61.8% over the past 5 years.

According to the report, Charlotte’s Lockwood “has become ground zero for investors despite once being known as one of the most dangerous places in the country. The area has lots of homes built in the 1940s with large back and front yards. Prices are quickly nearing $300,000.”

The tiny neighborhood borders Uptown and NoDa to the north and sits directly on the new Lynx Blue Line Lightrail extension;

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $748,000 to Accelerate Cleantech Entrepreneurship in NC

0

The U.S. Department of Commerce have announced that Joules Accelerator (Joules) and the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC) were jointly awarded a $748,244 grant from the Economic Development Administration’s Regional Innovation Strategies i6 Challenge.

The award will enable Joules and RTCC to create a cleantech commercialization corridor (“C3”) in the greater Charlotte and Research Triangle regions, providing a platform for cleantech startups to deliver technology solutions to North Carolina communities. The three-year grant will bring municipalities, utilities, universities, and industry partners together to identify regional problems, build cross-sector partnerships, and facilitate opportunities for pilots and demonstration projects for cleantech startups.

“We’re excited to unite the innovation economies of Charlotte and the Triangle. Bringing one of the country’s largest electric utilities and the largest cluster of smart grid companies together to focus on the development and deployment of clean technologies will have tremendous economic benefits for North Carolina. This model will bring municipalities – both small and large – to the same table, to benefit from the same access to advanced technologies, in a way that hasn’t existed before,” said Bob Irvin, Executive Director of Joules Accelerator.

The Charlotte and Research Triangle regions are already advancing cleantech initiatives like smart cities, renewables deployment, electric and connected vehicles, and advanced manufacturing. The new cleantech corridor will leverage the complementary assets of both regions to advance clean energy, sustainability, and resiliency solutions for communities across North Carolina.

“Triangle communities are leading the way in cleantech implementation – from testing technologies in innovation districts to setting long-term goals for clean energy usage. They know the impact technology can have on sustainability. Winning this grant allows us to bring key community partners to the table to address concerns about our shared future – while also strengthening our ecosystem of cleantech startups and bringing tangible economic benefits to the region,” said Susan Sanford, Executive Director of the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster.

The U.S. Department of Commerce awarded $21 million to 40 organizations (from over 230 applicants) in 2018 to create or expand cluster-focused entrepreneurship and technology transfer programs through the i6 Challenge. Housed within the Economic Development Administration, the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship manages the Regional Innovation Strategies program and i6 Challenge to foster innovation and the commercialization of new technologies, products, processes, and services with the goal of promoting productivity and economic growth in the United States. More information about the i6 Challenge may be found on the US EDA website.

North Carolina Introducing New Bill To Further Decriminalize Marijuana

0

State Senator Mujtaba Mohammed recently introduced a bill to further decriminalize the possession of marijuana in our state.

Mecklenburg County’s 38th District representative said the bill is part of his campaign promise to “build people, not prisons.”

Senate Bill 58 seeks to increase the amount of Marijuana required for both misdemeanors and felonies, reading:

“If the quantity of the controlled substance exceeds three ounces (currently 1/2 ounce) of marijuana or one-twentieth of an ounce of the extracted resin of marijuana, commonly known as hashish, the violation shall be punishable as a Class 1 misdemeanor. If the quantity of the controlled substance exceeds 16 ounces (currently 1.5 ounces) of marijuana, or three-twentieths of an ounce (avoirdupois) of the extracted resin of marijuana, commonly known as hashish, or if the controlled substance consists of any quantity of synthetic tetrahydrocannabinols or tetrahydrocannabinols isolated from the resin of marijuana, the violation shall be punishable as a Class I felony.”

If the S.B. 58 passes, it will apply to all offenses committed on or after July 1 of 2019.

Random Charlotte Man Attacks Pat McCrory’s Car With A Large Stick

0

North Carolina’s former governor Pat McCrory was just attacked by a Charlotte man with a large tree limb.

This past Wednesday at about 4:30 pm, near Selwyn and Runnymede, McCrory stopped for a man who was standing in the road, he recalled on his radio show.

McCrory rolled down his window and asked the man to move on, at which point the man recognized him. “Wait a minute, I recognize you, you’re Pat McCrory you blankety blank blank blank.”

The man then began swinging the staff he was carrying (which seemed to have come from a nearby tree) at McCrory’s car. The former governor said he wanted to get out of his car, but didn’t want the incident to become a big story. He instead drove away and called the police.

According to the police report, the suspect caused roughly $600 in damage to McCrory’s car. No arrests have been made at this time.

What Is a Pending Order in Forex?

0

There are many ways to trade forex, with no right or wrong; good or bad. For every trader’s style and personality, there is a trading method that feels the most comfortable. While market orders are the main type of orders that are traded, bought and sold, another type is called a pending order. Here are some of the things you should know about how to trade pending orders.

How to Set Pending Orders

A pending order, unlike a market order, is set for some time in the future. You can buy and sell a security for a specific price later. Once you set the order, if a price reaches the level that you chose sometime in the future, the trade will be executed. On the other hand, if the price never arrives at your pre-defined level, the order won’t be executed. Following are the four different types of pending orders that you can place.

Buy Limit Pending Orders

A buy limit pending order is the type that allows you to make a trade either at or below your specified price. To make sure that the order will improve the price, limit orders are placed on the right side of the market.  This is when you can buy for a lower price than what is currently being traded. If you are pretty sure that the price has fallen and will increase, the buy limit can be a good choice. Additional step by step forex trading on various topics may be found here

Sell Limit Orders

The sell limit pending order sells after the price has increased. You can specify a sell limit that will predict when a price rises to a specific level so you can take advantage of that increase before the price begins to fall. To ensure that you’ll make a profit here, the order needs to be set at or more than the current market price.

Buy Stop Orders

Buy stop orders are used when you are pretty sure that the current price will grow and even go past a certain level. When placing an order to purchase for a price that is higher than the current market value, it is called a buy stop pending order. When your set price level is reached, which is called the stop level, the order is activated automatically. You don’t need to do anything else. In contrast to the limit order, the buy stop order is set for above the price of the market. Orders are instantly converted into an order once the level is reached.

Sell Stop Orders

To set pending orders to sell for a price that is lower than the current one, it is a sell stop pending order. Once the price reaches that level, the sell order will be placed. This is for times when it seems like there will be a continued reduction of price, after it has hit a certain level.

To use pending orders effectively, you need a clear understanding of which way the market is headed and what might happen in the future.
