North Carolina has just announced a $25,000 reward for any information that helps solve four deaths from Charlotte’s Juneteenth celebration.
Gov. Josh Stein announced the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The victims were Jamaa Cassell, 39; Christopher “CJ” Gleaton, 28; Dairyon Stevenson, 31; and Kelly Miller, 29.
“We must use every tool at our disposal to pursue justice for victims,” said Governor Josh Stein today in a new press release. “I urge North Carolinians who have information about this case to contact local law enforcement and help us hold the murderers accountable.”
On June 22, 2020, hundreds of community members gathered along the 1800 block of Beatties Ford Road to celebrate Juneteenth. During the event, gunfire erupted from multiple shooters, firing over 150 total rounds into the crowd.
The gunfire killed three victims. A vehicle fleeing the scene struck and killed the fourth.
Now, more than six years later, the reward renews attention on the case and encourages witnesses to come forward. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact either agency:
