The first two games were played in North Carolina: at Carter-Finley Stadium (Raleigh) and Kenan Memorial Stadium (Chapel Hill), while the third and final matches took place at the Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina. In 1991, the initiative group formally applied for franchise expansion, and on October 26, 1993, all 28 NFL team owners recognized the Carolina Panthers as a new member of the league.

Culture

Radio coverage of the team’s games is conducted through the WBT flagship station (1110 AM) and through the Carolina Panthers Radio Network, which has branches in Virginia, Georgia and both Carolinas. The radio network covers pre-game events, broadcasts games and sums up their results. There is also a weekly Panther Talk program straight from Bank of America Stadium, where fans of the team can meet and question their players live.

All preseason and special team matches are broadcast by the Carolina Panthers Television Network with the flagship WSOC-TV station in Charlotte and fourteen partner stations in Virginia, Georgia, both Carolinas and Tennessee. Rivalry

The main contenders for the Carolina Panthers are their NFC Southern Division counterparts represented by the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But the most principled are the Falcons and the Buccaneers.

The Atlanta Falcons are a rival to the Panthers and for a geographical reason, Atlanta is located just 230 miles south of I-85. The teams play each other twice a year, with a large contingent of guest fans (the Karolinska team at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Atlanta at Bank of America Stadium).

The Panthers’ clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is considered the most principled in the NFC South Division. It has been around since the division’s inception in 2002 but began to heat up before the 2003 season due to verbal attacks by players on both teams. Super Bowl LIV saw AFC champs the Kansas City Chiefs take down the NFC’s San Francisco 49ers by 31 – 20, bringing home the silverware for the first time since Super Bowl IV all the way back in 1970.

The game saw Chiefs quarterback named Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award after he saw through 26 of 42 passes, gaining 286 yards, and bag two touchdowns and two intercepts, not to mention his electrifying 29 yard rush to put another touchdown on the Chief’s side of the scoreboard.

For those less interested in the game and more in it for the spectacle, half time saw epic performances from global superstars Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. From the chaos of late 2020, the game already looks like halcyon days.

– A different Super Bowl for 2021

Expect Super Bowl LV to have a very different feel and significance for many spectators. It will no doubt be a high point for many after a turbulent year.

The game will be played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. It had been planned for Los Angeles, but the game was awarded for Tampa when LA’s game was moved from 2021 to 2022.

The Weeknd will perform the half time show – a change of pace for the mid-show entertainment. The Baltimore Ravens are just not built like their competitors. They have an incredibly strong defense, and an overall roster that’s been invigorated by incoming players such as Calais Campbell and, of course, Lamar Jackson.

They’ll be an interesting team to watch, however, because Jackson really is the axis around which the Ravens’ Super Bowl hopes revolve. They need him to be that double threat, not just running but also throwing, inside and outside the pocket.

The team hasn’t been running well, and Jackson has work to do on throwing the ball down the field. With Ronnie Stanley down for the count for the rest of the season they’re without one of the best left tackles in the NFL.

That’s a lot of pressure being brought to bear on the running game and Lamar Jackson.

So the Ravens still have a strong shot at making the Super Bowl, but their window to capitalize on it is closing.

Another strong contender on the AFC side is the Pittsburgh Steelers. They had an incredible streak of wins through the first half of the season. If they can fend off the Ravens in the (now postponed) upcoming game, they have a very real shot at going all the way.

On the NFC side of the equation, the New Orleans Saints are one to watch as the Super Bowl creeps closer. They’ve got an older quarterback in Drew Brees and pundits are questioning where they’ll go when he finally taps out.

This could be Brees’ last hurrah, and with speculation that there’s trouble brewing down in New Orleans he’ll be looking to prove the naysayers wrong and go out on a high.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking interesting, too. They have Tom Brady; they have Antonio Brown in for a year or two and looking to make a splash. They’re a balanced team, working well on either side of the ball, and bringing in Brown signals that they’re deadly serious about a big run on the Super Bowl.

The Buccaneers aren’t attracting the strongest odds, but for fans looking for a slightly more outsider bet they’re worth a look.

Of course, with all the best analysis and punditry in the world, if 2020 has shown the world anything it’s that they should expect the unexpected. There’s still time in this season for a wild card or three, and no-one should be counting their chickens yet.

Have you ever wanted to find a check in the mail for a couple of hundred dollars?

That wish is about to become a reality for tens of thousands of North Carolina residents as the NC Department of State Treasury has just passed new legislation to automatically send out unclaimed money to all NC residents who are owed less than $250.

“Many thanks to the North Carolina General Assembly for their help in passing House Bill 1023. Because of their support, we can now waive paperwork requirements for tens of thousands of claims valued at $250 or less,” said NC Treasurer Dale Folwell.

According to the NC Treasurer’s website, most of the $800 million in unclaimed cash in North Carolin is from uncollected wages, insurance reimbursements or payouts, escrowed deposits (rent, utilities, etc), and stocks. Funds will usually become unclaimed when a company loses track of the consumer from an incorrect address or other missing info. “By law, these funds are escheated, or turned over, to the Department of State Treasurer for safekeeping,” the site notes.

If you are owed more than $250, you will still need to NCCash.com and enter your information.

NC Shatters Covid Record w/ 5,637 Cases Yesterday – Just Weeks Before Vaccine Set To Arrive

The State of North Carolina has just recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in 1 day, again.

Yesterday, officials with the NC Department of Health and Human Services announced that there were a total of 5,637 new cases over a 24-hour period – the highest number our state has seen since the pandemic started (beating the previous highs of 4,514 on 11/22, 4,296 on 11/19, 3,885 on 11/14, and 3,119 on 11/11).

We’ve also been seeing an increase in the number of hospitalized, with a total of 2,101 Covid-19 patients currently undergoing treatment.

While cases and hospitalizations reach record highs, there is some good news on the horizon – North Carolina is about to receive its first shipment of vaccines from both Moderna and Pfizer.

The state is currently expecting to receive at least 85,000 vaccines from Pfizer on the week of December 14th and the first shipment from Moderna to arrive the following week.

According to North Carolina’s Official COVID-19 Vaccination Plan, high-risk emergency healthcare workers and long-term care facilities workers will be at the top of the state’s priority list for vaccines.

NC’s Rescue Ranch Launching Virtual Auction To Help Fund Local Animal Rescues

Kicking off at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10 Rescue Ranch will launch a virtual auction to raise funds for the 87-acre animal education nonprofit. The online auction will run until Thursday, Dec. 17 and will feature items such as a custom-made dining room table, artwork, a private meal by the Moyer’s restaurant, an assortment of NASCAR items from different drivers, and more.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit Rescue Ranch’s missions of utilizing educational programs to promote respect for animals and responsible pet ownership, as well as agricultural, environmental and wildlife conservation.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the auction replaces the annual holiday dinner which would have celebrated its 16th year in 2020.

“Like all nonprofits, we’ve shifted our fundraising events to help keep our community safe during this time,” said co-founder, Krissie Newman. “We’re sad to not have the opportunity to see our supporters at our annual holiday dinner, however, we’re excited to launch the auction online so that supporters from across the country can participate. We have some amazing items for folks to bid on with all proceeds going directly back to the Ranch.

“More importantly, we have a really exciting announcement that we will make during the virtual auction on Dec. 10 that involves the continued growth of the Ranch and our mission!”

York County High Schools Art Show 2020 Winners Announced

The Arts Council of York County announced the awards for the York County High Schools Art Show in an online Gallery Talk with juror Dr. Bradley Sabelli. The video was released on Thursday, December 3 and is available to watch on the Arts Council’s website, Facebook page, and YouTube page. This year, 16 art teachers from 6 York County high schools, representing 3 districts, selected more than 70 works for exhibition. The students’ work will be on display in the Edmund Lewandowski Classroom Gallery at the Center for the Arts through December 31, 2020.
