CMS Cafeterias Debuted A Truly Bizarre Mystery Meat – The Char-Meck-A-Nator

Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools now have parents scratching their heads after debuting a new mystery meat this past Tuesday called the ‘Char-Meck-A-Nator’.

After this week’s menu was released, several parents began to ask the district on social media what it was;

The school district responded by saying it was a type of cheese/ketchup/meatloaf creation;

Parents and students alike were quick to ask the school district exactly what was in the new creation;

CMS was quick to defend the Char-Meck-A-Nator, telling everyone they needed to try it first before judging it.

They even released a special promo video and announced it will soon be coming to CMS high schools;

Charlotte McDonald’s Employee Fired Over Viral Video Asking Customer to Spell ‘Deportation’

A video taken at a Charlotte McDonald’s drive-through is now going viral after an employee told a customer to “say Donald Trump” and “Can you spell deportation?”.

The video was first uploaded to Facebook by Wendy Rios on September 9th and was quickly picked up by Fox News.

Wendy commented under her video, “Hello everyone, look what happened to me at the Mcdonald’s of eastwey and central, I feel assaulted and everything happened, nothing more why I asked if my order was complete?….don’t laugh at me English, is that when I’m pissed off. 🤣. Help to share it so this lady can resist. Look at how bad she said.”

Her video has already been shared over 5,000 times and viewed over 475,000 times:

Wendy said that she was asking for some ketchup, after which the employee put up her middle finger to Wendy through the closed window – the rest of the argument can be seen in the above video.

As soon as McDonald’s caught wind of what the employees did and said to Wendy, they fired the employee, saying that her actions inexcusable.

McDonald’s Owner/Operator George Forrest also released the following statement:

“The actions of this employee are inexcusable and in no way reflect the strong values McDonald’s and my organization place on diversity, inclusion and providing a welcoming experience for our customers. This individual is no longer employed at my restaurant and we have expressed our sincerest apologies to the customer for this situation.”

NCDOT Warns Charlotte Drivers To Avoid Traveling on I-77

i77 toll lane petitionThe NCDOT is now warning Charlotte drivers to avoid traveling on I-77 Southbound if at all possible due to Hurricane Irma evacuees returning home.

Traffic on I-77, as well as I-95 and I-26 is expected to worsen over the next few days as the remainder of shelters in our region empty and other Florida residents travel home from staying with friends and family along the East Coast.

According to a press release, the NCDOT will be opening up all available lanes indefinitely, “To ease the congestion, the N.C. Department of Transportation has suspended lane closures during the day for the southbound lanes of Interstates 95 and 77 and the eastbound lanes of I-26.” They are recommending all local drivers to take side roads if possible to limit congestion (check out the Waze App or CoPilot GPS for the best alternative routes).

Unlike the evacuation, the return will be spread out over several days, as some people took the week off, and others wait for news that the water in their flooded neighborhoods receded.

The Queen City became one of the primary destinations for Hurricane Irma evacuees after the storm’s track shifted further West and was predicted to cross over Atlanta and Nashville. It’s been reported that every single hotel room in Uptown Charlotte was booked this past Monday and Tuesday nights.

Mayor Jennifer Roberts Was Just Voted Out In Charlotte’s Mayoral Primary

Charlotte is about to have its 7th new mayor in just 8 years.

Incumbent Mayor Jennifer Roberts Just conceded the election to Mayor Pro Tem Vi Lyles last night at her watch party at the Peculiar Rabbit.

Mayor Roberts said that she called Vi Lyles to express her support for the new Democratic candidate.

With Charlotte’s 168 precincts reported results, Democratic Lyles defeated Roberts by nearly 3,400 votes, 15,773 to 12,375.

Republican City Councilmemeber Kenny Smith defeated Gary Dunn with over 89% of the votes.

Charlotte Chamber Just Stated “We will aggressively pursue” Amazon’s New $5 Billion HQ2

Last week Amazon announced plans to build a second headquarters somewhere in North America that will “create as many as fifty thousand (50,000) new full-time jobs with an average annual compensation exceeding one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) per employee. Most major cities are now chomping at the bit to court the tech mega giant.

Charlotte’s Chamber of Commerce sent out a statement yesterday saying, “We will aggressively pursue this opportunity.”

The statement went on to explain that “the Charlotte Regional Partnership will be the lead entity on behalf of our region. The Charlotte Chamber is working in close coordination with the Charlotte Regional Partnership. The chamber will specifically focus on the identification of potential sites in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County and will assist with other components of the request for proposal as needed.

This is a transformative opportunity for our region. We are prepared to support any location within our region that is competitive. It is also an unprecedented opportunity to engage our public sector, private sector and the not for profit sector in a team effort to put our best foot forward.”

The Charlotte region saw a considerable amount of damage from downed trees and power lines from high wind gusts, driving rains, and possible mini-tornadoes.

The damage done to the Charlotte region, however, wasn’t even close to what could have happened if Irma decided to avoid Florida, stay on the east coast, and make landfall in South Carolina, like Hurricane Hugo did almost 30 years ago;

Man Killed in Huntersville Hospital After Firing Several Shots

shooting-at-huntersville-hospitalLate last night a man was shot and killed last night in the Novant Hospital after he opened fire on the second floor.

According to Huntersville Police, officers were called to the hospital at around midnight after receiving reports of a man with a gun who had fired several shots.

Officers confronted the armed man inside of the hospital. After feeling threatened, police fired several shots, striking and killing the man.

“Upon arrival, hospital staff and witnesses directed officers to the area where the man with the gun was last seen. During a search of the area, officers encountered the man still armed with the gun,” said the statement from Huntersville Police. “An encounter ensued, during which, the officers felt threatened by the man’s actions and fired several rounds striking him.”

Police have not yet released the man’s name or indicated an exact motive.

Romare Bearden Park (300 S. Church St) will honor the victims and first-responders of 9/11 this year with services and a display.

A memorial featuring 2,977 flags set up in the shape of the World Trade Center Towers will be set up on the lawn. A ceremony hosted by the members of FDNY E-217 will begin at 8:15 a.m.

A bell will ring at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m., 9:59 a.m., 10:03 a.m., and 10:28 a.m. to honor the attacks that occurred at those times.

The memorial will be available to visit through Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Day of Remembrance at Rocky River Elementary

Rocky River Elementary was picked as 1 of 50 schools to receive a grant from Youth Service America to honor military families on 9/11. Forty military families are expected to attend with one family in each homeroom this morning as the students learn about the sacrifices that service men and women make on a daily basis to keep us safe and free.

 

Flag display on Sutton Road bridge in Rock Hill

Patriots of Rock Hill, S.C. will be on Sutton Road between 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m waving a massive flag display to honor Mr. Leonard A. Farrington, who passed away in 2012.

The flag will be displayed over I-77 as thousands of motorists pass through the region.

Cornelius 9/11 Vigil

Members of the Cornelius Fire Department will honor the fallen on 9/11 with a community vigil. The event will feature a single bell toll and moments of silence for when each plane crashed on 9/11, as well as the moment each of the twin towers fell. The event is being held at the 9/11 monument at 19729 S. Main Street in Cornelius.

djzozstx0aufgyyThe Panthers just won their first game of the regular season 23-3 against the 49ers (now undefeated!). Our defense was in full force during the entire game, with Thomas Davis and Luke Kuechly leading like the true veteran champions they are.

Our offense started the game with a few more question marks – several new players, Cam’s first game after his shoulder surgery, and the first regular-season NFL game of first-round draft pick Christian McCaffrey.

Although Cam started off rusty, he never lost his composure. He underthrew a long ball for an interception and badly missed wide-open Ed Dickson near the end zone, but still ended up throwing 14-for-25 with 171 yards and two touchdowns. He remained in control of the offense and got the ball into the hands of his playmakers rather than trying to be the playmaker, in spite of the periodic setbacks.

He also established some solid chemistry with star rookie RB Christian McCaffrey and potential underdog WR Russell Shepard, who made one of the best plays of the game:

Cam Newton showed the signs of a true veteran QB – resilience, composure, and wisdom in his first full game after a fairly involved off-season shoulder surgery.

“A little rusty, still getting used to things,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. “(Newton) is still getting used to things. He’s upset about it, had to talk him off a ledge, but he’s focusing on what he needs to do. The other guys are rallying around him though. He made a couple of really good audibles, and he’s making good reads. It’s just about getting comfortable and getting his rhythm.”
