0

Marriage season is almost here and even the most steadfast singles can’t help but think about the possibility of finding their true love. With the proliferation of online dating sites and apps, meeting people has become easier than ever before, but many feel that meeting the right person is now even harder due to greatly increased competition.

That difficulty, however, is slightly tempered in cities where the single population is higher and in areas a higher percentage of singles are looking for long-term commitments.

According to a new study by ApartmentList.com, Charlotte is now the 9th best dating city for women and the 10th best dating city for men in America.

The Queen City ranked just behind Washington, DC for women and just behind Miami, FL for men;

5 Tips to a Healthy Lifestyle That Helps In Reducing Women’s Health Risk

0

Research shows that most of the things that put a woman’s life at risk are preventable. That’s amazing. That means, as a woman, you have the power to decrease the chances of you getting chronic diseases like stroke and hypertension by living right. So from this article, you get five tips that can help you have a healthier lifestyle.

Sleep right

You already know that you should sleep for eight hours every day. However, there is a difference between sleeping and sleeping right. You can rest for up to ten hours but still wake worn out and restless.

What to do to make sure you sleep right

Have the right mattress.

You need a mattress that can support your weight, back, and any health condition you could be having. For example, women with full figures are encouraged to choose medium-firm foams while the slender ones should get firm-firm foams. You can get credible reviews on the internet.

Sleeping posture

The right sleeping position helps distribute your weight evenly while you sleep so that you do not ruin your body. Imagine waking up to back pain, dislocated spine, or a stiff neck. Each position has merits and demerits.

For instance, sleeping on your side can exert a lot of pressure on your lower back though it’s the most comfortable posture. However, with the right type of mattress and pillows, you can still lie on your back without hurting it.

Beauty sleep-quantity vs. quality

The recommended hours are not enough if you have to make countless trips to the bathroom, or your mind is not at rest. Beauty sleep means that once you lie down, nothing interrupts your sleep until your alarm goes off.

More sex

Raise your hand if lacking sex causes you stress. Sex helps your body produce the happy hormones which are crucial to reducing anxiety and depression. That’s not all; sex is part of exercise.

Having regular sex can boost your immune system. The activity is known to enhance your body’s ability to make disease-fighting antibodies. Not forgetting that the more a woman engages in sexual activities, the more she boosts her libido.

Friends and family

Study shows that there is a connection between the quality of your relationships and some illnesses like hypertension, obesity, and stomach ulcers. Friends and family can either trigger stress, or help you fight it through unconditional love and support.

As a human being, you cannot shut out both groups of people. If you don’t dot on your family, you do dot on your pals. Think of your buddies. Think of your relations. Do these people create an environment that promotes your health?

Social support is a resource you are supposed to use to cope with the highs and lows of life. Hence, if your relations are toxic, your health is at risk.

Have some wine

Hope after reading this part; you will pour yourself some sweet wine. Drink in moderation, though. Here are reasons why you should not play games with wine:

  1. It has antioxidants that not only help the body fight cancer but also keep your skin healthy and youthful.
  2. Taking moderate amounts of wine reduces the risk of getting a stroke.
  3. Red wine has silicon which promotes bone density
  4. Red wine contains resveratrol a compound that can help lower cholesterol and also reduce the chances of getting type 2-diabetes.
  5. Don’t forget the good feeling you have after enjoying a glass of wine.

Eat and exercise

It’s impossible to write about healthy living without factoring the importance of exercise and a healthy diet. Most people in the world today try to eat well and maintain a simple fitness schedule.

The question is, when do you eat? When do you exercise?

  1. Exercise promotes sleep, but it should not replace it. You cannot cure sleep deprivation with exercise.
  2. Healthy food and exercise will give you the body you want, but one cannot replace the other, so you’ve to do both.
  3. The time you eat is as important as what you eat.

Conclusion

A healthy woman is a gift to herself, family, and society. In today’s society, it’s not easy to choose a healthy lifestyle over the many available options. On the other hand, the consequences of unhealthy choices are gut-wrenching and extremely expensive.

The change you want to see begins with you. Only you know the things that motivate you to make unhealthy choices, and what can do to have a better life.

Is The Rise In Cannabis Keeping Some Men From Having Children?

0

While many places are beginning to open their doors to the cannabis industry, more and more people are bringing up the age-old question. Does smoking marijuana decrease your chances of getting pregnant? And does it affect mens health and their ability to perform normally? Even though there have been numerous studies over the years, the information that is received is often in contrast to other studies on the matter. There is a common consensus however, that smoking marijuana does lead to a lower sperm count in men.

When the plant is smoked, it reacts with our endocannabinoid system which is linked directly with the production of reproductive hormones in both males and females. While the men’s sperm seemed to tire themselves out too quickly to be of any use, it has been shown that smoking cannabis as a woman also slows down the ovulation process. This is true even for women who have only used a small amount of the plant in the year before they attempted to get pregnant. It has also been proven that smoking marijuana while you are pregnant can lead to an increased risk of miscarriages, as well as it being able to cross the placenta. However, there are not enough studies yet to provide any more information on the health effects of children born while the mother was using cannabis to provide enough accurate information.

As stated previously, for a very long time it has been known that smoking increases the risk of becoming infertile if you are a man. Now that we have more studies and evidence however, there can be more information given on what exactly it does. It does indeed reduce the amount of sperm that is produced and it has also been shown to cause cases of impotence. This can cause even more problems, such as misunderstandings between the couple as the man may feel embarrassed.

As more and more states legalize CBD, this question is becoming a topic here as well. There have been even fewer studies on CBD than the THC version of the plant, causing the information to be even more sparse. However, there seem to be more benefits of smoking or ingesting the non-active ingredient. A few studies point out the positive effects of the plant on performance anxiety and point out that if someone is feeling less shy, their libido will be more active. Nevertheless, as with the THC version of the plant, many studies claim it helps, as well as many that claim that it hurts. There are many more risks that are being shown right now rather than benefits so most doctors are sharing the same message.

If you are trying to get pregnant within a short amount of time, the best thing to do is to stop using marijuana as soon as you can. This will even out the female’s ovulation processes, making it a more regular and controllable time frame. For the men reducing your THC or CBD intake can help increase your count and help regulate them back to their normal, slower routine. As well as this, if you are suffering impotence, this could be a solution. As for both of them, quitting will increase their libido, most likely making it easier for the pregnancy to happen sooner and also to be a success. Overall, unfortunately, there are still too few studies done on the effects of the infants born to parents who smoke, which leaves it up mostly for debate what could affect them neurologically or physically. It has been proven though that if a child is born into a home where there are drugs often present, they are more likely to grow up and have an interest in trying these things when they grow into their teens.

Video Games and Violence – the Debate That Refuses to Die

0

It’s a debate that has raged for decades, since the very earliest days of video games and consoles, and it has only increased in ferocity over time. To many, it seemed self-evident; portrayals of excessively violent acts in video games influence young minds and cause their actions in the real world to be informed by the casual violence that they encounter in these games. Worse even than the passive experience of watching a movie or TV show, in these games it is the player who is controlling the violence on the screen. Surely it must be having a detrimental effect on our youth?

There are plenty of computer-based activities that are feared to be bad for society, and in particularly for young people, but a look at the stats reveals that many of these concerns are either baseless or exaggerated. Take online poker, and the worry that it could create a whole new generation of compulsive poker players. What we actually see is a reduction in the number of players under the age of 25 taking part in competitions. Still, it’s imperative to stay safe, so if you want the best Canadian poker sites, then make sure to consult https://new-casino.ca/poker/ to find a secure one.

The rise of video games, into the multi-billion dollar industry that it is today, has happened in tandem with a rise in apparently random acts of gun violence in the USA. It’s a correlation that is hard to ignore, and many politicians and commentators established the link in our collective consciousness well before any actual research was conducted to see if there was casality involved.

It’s only this year, two decades after the horrors of the Columbine High shooting, that some real evidence is actually being created. And the findings vindicate what the defenders have been saying from the start; there is no link between video games and violent behaviour. And given that mass shootings are a uniquely American problem, whereas gaming is popular all over the world, this shouldn’t really come as a surprise. So why has this idea persisted for so long?

For one, gaming is a convenient scapegoat for politicians who would prefer not to look more deeply at the issues. Gun control is the hot potato topic of our time, and blaming gaming is a handy way to steer clear of that debate. But it wouldn’t be such an effective political ruse if it didn’t feel so entirely plausible, and that’s why this is a debate that is far from over. Shooting, maiming and running people over with your car on screen – surely this must be encouraging violence in real life? How, many people argue, could it not?

Added to this, gamer culture has garnered a rather toxic reputation in recent years. Stereotypes abound of angry, basement-dwelling young men, who spew crude and aggressive trash-talk and are sexist and otherwise bigoted. This cliché is undoubtedly unfair to most gamers, but it has increased public antipathy towards video games and those who play them. And while there may be an obnoxious minority in the community, this still doesn’t mean that there’s any connection to real life violence.

Bolstered by this year’s new research, the game industry will keep going from strength to strength. The number of people who enjoy these games continues to rise, and are becoming more vocal in their support. These days, entire leagues exist for playing competitive video games and the prize pools are enormous. So, the debate will slowly start to become less relevant as the argument loses credibility. Politicians may still use it as a handy excuse to avoid a difficult topic, but at some point we will be compelled to accept the evidence that is in front of us. And if gamers could mobilize as a voting bloc, then maybe the politicians would stop altogether.

2.3 Magnitude Earthquake Just Struck 40 Miles North of Charlotte

0

Last night at around 8:25pm, a 2.3 magnitude earthquake rattled homes about 40 miles north of Charlotte in Davidson County.

Many residents of nearby Arcadia and Advance, North Carolina reported feeling their homes shake and hearing a loud ‘boom’.

The quake had an epicenter of 35.935°N 80.334°W with a 1.2 km depth, according to the USGS.

Earthquakes have been increasing in frequency around the Charlotte region over the past few years, about a year ago, we saw a 2.9 magnitude quake hit Asheville and a 2.1 magnitude quake that struck Bryson City, NC.

The Carolinas have been known to experience the occasional damage-causing earthquakes.

According to USGS.gov, “The largest earthquake in the area (magnitude 5.1) occurred in 1916. Moderately damaging earthquakes strike the inland Carolinas every few decades, and smaller earthquakes are felt about once each year or two.”

Did you feel last night’s quake?

Tonight’s Friday The 13th Micro Harvest Moon Won’t Happen Again For 500 More Years

0

Tonight Charlotte will witness one of the rarest lunar phenomena in centuries – a Micro Harvest Moon on Friday the 13th.

On average, a full moon occurring on any Friday the 13th only happens about 1% of the time, but add to that the fact that tonight’s moon is also a Harvest Moon and a Micro moon and you have one exceptionally rare (and likely superstitious) lunar occurrence.

A “Harvest Moon” is the term given to the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox (this year the equinox will fall on September 23).

A “Micro Moon” is essentially the opposite of a “Super Moon” and occurs when the moon is at its apogee (the furthest point away from the earth in the moon’s orbit).

The next Friday the 13th Micro Moon won’t happen again for more than 500 years, and it’s unclear if there will ever be another Friday the 13th Micro Harvest Moon.

Cam Newton Blames Offense For Last Night’s 14-20 Loss Against The Bucs

0

The Carolina Panthers fell to 0-2 after their second game of the regular season last night against the Tampa Bay Bucs with a final score of 14-20.

They did get a good number of looks with a total of 352 offensive yards, but after going 3-14 on 3rd downs, and 0-3 in the red zone, the yardage just wasn’t enough.

In a post game press conference, Cam Newton said that most of the blame rests squarely on the Panthers’ offense;

“It’s hard to look defensive guys in the eyes after a game like this…offensively we didn’t hold up our end of the bargain. That’s the obvious. We just didn’t uphold our end…”

The blame might rest more than usually on Cam himself, as his rushing may be a crucial factor in the Panthers success.

Last week’s game Cam rushed for negative yards and last nights game, he only rushed twice for a total of 0 yards.

The Panthers are now 0-7 when Cam Newton only rushes twice during the game.

Here are the complete highlights from yesterday’s game in Charlotte;

What did you think of our performance last night?

What do you think needs to change?
