Key Benefits of Medical Marijuana

0

Marijuana is a highly complex plant that contains some 500 unique compounds. Terpenoids give cannabis, a flowering plant, its unique and distinctive smell. Over 100 cannabinoids, or compounds from cannabis, are also present. Two of the primary components of marijuana are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC is psychoactive and triggers the ‘high’ and CBD does not alter consciousness. With medical marijuana (MMJ) you typically don’t need to consume cannabis that has high levels of THC. Products can range from nearly all CBD, to half and half blends and onto some variations that focus more on the THC element. In general, MMJ typically has higher CBD content than recreational varieties. You can check this store if you are looking for smoking accessories. And if you are looking for dry herb vapes to consume cannabis then try quality vapes from yocanvaporizer.com.

Getting a Medical Marijuana Card

If you want to buy weed you will typically need to get an appointment with a registered doctor who can see if you are a suitable candidate. Most states require a medical certification or provider recommendation to issue cards. In Missouri, for instance, you can find out if you qualify for medical marijuana by setting up an easy online appointment with a Missouri licensed professional. The doctor can provide you with a certification that can be used to apply for and receive your card directly from the state.

Reducing Seizures

Medical cannabis is being used by individuals to treat and dramatically reduce seizures. The FDA even approved a CBD based drug as a therapeutic offering to help people treat severe seizures. CBD based MMJ is also being used to treat Dravet syndrome, a form of childhood epilepsy. The reduction in seizures in some patients seems to be heading in the right direction.

Helping with Alzheimer’s

In Alzheimer’s disease, one of the primary markers or indicators of the disease is the presence of amyloid plaque in the brain. It’s thought that these plaques kill brain cells. THC, one of the key compounds, can help interrupt or slow the creation of these amyloid plaques within the brain. It does this by actually inhibiting the brain enzyme, AChE, that accelerates the formation of the harmful plaques in Alzheimer’s patients. With THC, it may be possible to help address both the symptoms and the progression of Alzheimer’s.

Treating Glaucoma

Glaucoma causes an increased pressure on the eyeball. This, in turn, can injure the optic nerve that carries signals and images to the brain, resulting in vision loss or blindness. Marijuana helps with glaucoma by lowering pressure in the eye, thus preventing blindness.

Helping Veterans with PTSD

For people suffering from the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), cannabis can help relax both the body and the brain. PTSD can invoke a daily battle with stress, anxiety and fear. MMJ can regulate those feelings and help the mind and body remain in a more calm and placid state. Interestingly, cannabis can also help control nightmares which may occur frequently in those suffering from PTSD. It can also help veterans avoid or lower their reliance on addictive opioids when treating PTSD. It can also help to alleviate anxiety, treat inflammatory bowel diseases, help to treat ADHD/ADD and, because of its impact on insulin, MMJ can help to regulate and prevent diabetes.

Keeping Yourself Financially Secure During Covid19 Economic Concerns

0

The Covid19 virus outbreak may have increased the concern for general health and cleanliness, although, this impacts of the outbreak span far further than keeping yourself safe from infection. This is because global lockdowns have forced several sectors to shut down and countless professionals are forced to patiently await the return to normal at home. However, the impact on the international economy is exceptionally concerning as many have predicted that the virus will bankrupt more people than what it will kill. To avoid complete internal chaos, you should consider the following methods of keeping yourself financially secure.

Safe Haven Investments

If you have been saving and investing funds, you may already be aware of the stock market plummeting and the international losses as a result. However, while many investors have pulled out their funds it would be wise to leave at least some investments as the economy will eventually resurface. In addition to this, if you are among the lucky ones to still have an income flow, you should consider searching for a safe haven investment to build up financial security. While many claim gold is a safe haven, the rise of digital currencies opens a doorway to another safe haven investment; the Bitcoin.

While Bitcoin is not entirely unaffected by the global crisis, some have predicted its value will surge later this year. Therefore, it would be a fantastic solution to buy Bitcoin with your bank account and enjoy a fraction of peace of mind during this trying time.

Craft An Emergency Budget

If you have a reduced income, you will need to create an emergency budget to ensure you are not overspending. In addition to this, you should also search for coovid19 relief programs that may be available to you as many lenders are willing to give grace on debts during this time. It is recommended to reduce your spend where possible. However, if your income is not affected and you are simply concerned about the financial future, now would be the best time to incorporate savings into your budget with a sense of urgency. Your emergency budget should completely cut out any and all luxuries and only allow for basic essentials. Adapting to a lifestyle where only essentials are necessary will serve you well when the world bounces back to normal.

Avoid Credit

During this time, many are unable to repay their debts and as a result, cheap credit may seem extremely alluring. However, multiple small loans will have a snowball effect on your finances and you will soon be drowning in debts. Rather than falling into the temptation of sketchy lenders and promising micro-loans, you should rather consider searching for income online. Perhaps you will be able to find freelance opportunities withing your realm of career skills or you may be able to take advantage of small task websites to create an extra small income while you are at home awaiting the blow over of the concerning international crisis.

Venomous Snake Bites In Charlotte Doubled Last Year – Here’s How To Stay Safe

0

Last year the Carolina Poison Center reported a total of 81 snake bite calls coming from Mecklenburg County – almost twice as many as they received in 2018.

The majority of the calls were for copperhead bites, made by medical professionals seeking specific anti-venom dosing and treatment advice. The Charlotte region’s most prevalent venomous snake is the copperhead, but North Carolina is also home to cottonmouths, rattlesnakes (eastern diamondback, pygmy and timber) and coral snakes.

The Charlotte region has a total of 37 snake species, most of which are harmless, but due to our overly warm winter, snakes of all kinds are now more active than ever.

If you do a lot of walking or hiking around the Charlotte region, you should carry a snake bite kit and/or venom extractor in your backpack or car.

The Carolina Poison Center also recommends that:

If bitten by a snake, you SHOULD:

  • Sit down and stay calm.
  • Gently wash the area with warm, soapy water.
  • Remove any jewelry or tight clothing near the bite site.
  • Keep the bitten area still, if possible, and raise it to heart level.
  • Call the Carolinas Poison Center:  1-800-222-1222.

If bitten by a snake, you SHOULD NOT:

  • Ice the area.  Icing causes additional tissue damage.
  • Make and apply a tourniquet or any tight bandage.  It’s better for the venom to flow through the body than for it to stay in one area.
  • Attempt to catch or kill the snake.

If a snakebite victim is having chest pain, difficulty breathing, face swelling, or has lost consciousness, call 911 immediately.

Call Carolinas Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222 for questions about a snake bite or for more information.

Super Storm Sends Tornadoes Killing 1 Person and Leaving 300,000+ Without Power in The Carolinas

Early this morning many Charlotte-area residents were awoken to the sound of howling winds, pounding rain, and falling branches as one of the most powerful storms of the year ripped through the Carolinas.

The tornadoes and extreme winds took town trees, power lines, and cause localized flash flooding all across our region.

A major intersection at South Tryon and Westinghouse Blvd was completely shut down this morning due to a downed power line in the middle of the street.

One person was killed and several others were injured after a tornado touched down near Greenville, SC;

Another possible tornado in South Charlotte forced emergency crews to rescue a woman from her home after a tree fell on it.

According to Duke Energy, there are now over 5,000 active power outages and over 300,000 customers in the Carolinas without power:

What was your experience like this morning?

Essay Topics on Living Through Pandemic

0

Due to this novel coronavirus, like most of the people, students are also homebound. Almost all schools are closed and adapted distance learning. Schools are trying to carry out educational activities so that students won’t have to compromise on their academic year.  While schools are learning to adjust remotely, most of the students are assigned tasks which they can carry out easily while being at their home. Most of the tasks are research-related or essays about the current pandemic situation.

Writing topics for college students

Considering the current situation, most of the students prefer to write essays about quarantine life as they can relate to it and easily discuss the challenges they are facing. While most of the students find this situation challenging, some wish to continue distance learning even after the situation gets better. While writing your college essay, you should know its purpose and its importance. Go through some essay examples free as it will add value to your knowledge and will help you to decide the topic which you will be choosing for your work. All those students who are enrolled in PhD know the value of PhD essay and how important it is for them to score maximum in essays to graduate.

Coronavirus impact on Students

The virus changed everyone’s life at 180 angles. Nothing is the same due to this pandemic situation and most of the people are homebound. It has changed the way people live, eat or play. All mega-events are postponed, which never happened in the past, all the organizations are working from home, and the way people used to socialize or communicate is not happening. Students are missing their schools, their academic life has been thoroughly disturbed and most of them are dealing with uncertainty. A chaotic situation for the most as their parents work and they have very limited indoor activities to perform.

Learning New Skills During Quarantine

All those students who are working on their essays can also discuss all those activities they learned while being in quarantine. All the tutorials are available online and now you have sufficient time to practice and experience new things. You can’t make an excuse about being short on time or the events lined up. Share your quarantine stories and tell what you did to make it purposeful or what tasks you completed, which were pending for a while now.

Effects of Coronavirus on Usual Routine

Students can also discuss the positive or negative effects of coronavirus in their regular life. What was their routine before this pandemic and what are they doing now to cope up with the anxiety caused due to the lockdown. How are they mourning over the mega-events which are canceled due to this nobel virus for which they were doing preparation for over months?

Living with emotional and Financial Strain

Due to lockdown, economies collapsed in the worst possible manner and a significant amount of employees were fired from work on one day notice. A large number of families are affected due to it and people are finding it really hard to meet both ends. You can discuss the causes of how families are suffering from physical health, financial crisis along with deteriorating mental health. People have zero physical activities and they are emotionally strained too. People being out of pay for the whole year have no idea what they are going to do next and how they are going to deal with this situation. There are numerous aspects that can be discussed in such essays if one knows which notes to hit exactly.

Struggles of Distance Learning

Although the majority of the schools are shifted online, school is not the same anymore. Sitting in front of the screen for hours is not an ideal scenario. The tendency of procrastination also increases while being at home. Most of the people sit on the sofa or lie down on the bed and just join the online sessions for the sake of attendance. Also, teachers cannot provide one on one help to their students. All these cases would also help you to create a persuasive essay.

All these topics can assist you in creating an impressive essay as you are going through the situation, so making it personalized would add more value to it. There are a lot more essay topics which can be related to the current situation but you need to choose the one which seems best to you.

Celebrating While Distancing: A COVID Guide

0

Birthdays, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day. It’s springtime in North Carolina and special occasions are upon us, regardless of what’s going on in the world outside our front door. How can we celebrate while still maintaining a healthy distance from our loved ones? Technology and old-fashioned ingenuity, it seems, have the answers. This is your guide to celebrating while distancing.

Support Local Businesses

Many local businesses such as bakeries, coffee houses, breweries, and restaurants are offering curbside pickup and delivery services to help them pay the rent. You can order coffee beans for the caffeine junky in your life, pastries for the foodie, and burgers, pizza, and wings for just about anyone you’ve ever met. For local beer options, search this list for Charlotte. There are more than a few breweries open (with limited operating hours) for crowler fills and bottle/can sales. Nothing says “happy birthday” or “I miss you” like a care package of local, artisanal-quality goods. As an added bonus, some restaurants are throwing in a roll of toilet paper with takeout orders.

ECards: All the Sentiment and None of the Germs

If you snoop around online, you’re sure to unearth a few ecard companies so that you can let a loved one know that you’re thinking about them without having to venture out to the store or make physical contact. Funny cards are especially helpful in times of crisis, and perhaps no company we’ve found is funnier than JibJab. You can send their ecards for father’s day, mother’s day, or just plain because. This service even has something called “shorties,” in which you upload a picture of your face to have it superimposed into a hilarious video. Creativity such as this can go a long way towards brightening someone’s day.

Say “I Love You” Every Day

During uncertain times, it can help to maintain contact with loved ones. Text messages and phone calls will do the job in a pinch, but video chats make it more fun – and provide an excuse to get out of your pajamas. Try Skype, Zoom, Google Hangouts, FaceTime, or any other video chat service – especially on birthdays and other special occasions. Lift a drink together – whether it be a soda, a juice, or a beer – while you’re on a video call. Such activities can be uplifting. Some beer fans are keeping up with a regular “happy hour” on video chat platforms, while families who used to meet for a meal once a week can stage an impromptu dinner together online.

What About Children?

A child isn’t going to be uplifted by a pound of artisanally-roasted coffee beans, but there are ways to make the day special for them. Some families will drive by a friend’s house and hold hand-crafted poster-board signs with birthday greetings out the windows. In fact, if you organize enough families, you can stage a mini parade past the recipient’s house. With all families staying in their vehicles, social distancing is kept in practice while the child of honor gets to feel special. Don’t overlook the once-popular practice of serenading. Standing outside of a friend’s home and singing “Happy birthday,” perhaps with musical accompaniment, will be a memory they’ll cherish.

And now may be the time to practice your baking skills. Using YouTube videos and online tutorials, try making a better birthday cake than you’ve ever made before. If you’re having a difficulty finding certain ingredients at the grocery store, try some of the restaurants that are selling groceries, or try to make a recipe with substitutions. For example, if you can’t locate eggs, look for vegan cake recipes.

Just because a birthday or other special occasion falls during the days of COVID-19 doesn’t mean that it can’t be special. In fact, overcoming the obstacles can help it be even more memorable.

0

Alternative medicine and treatments aren’t a new fad in the health and wellness world. As a matter of fact, certain alternative treatments such as Homeopathy have been in practice since the 18th century. In 2017, in the UK alone there were around 9 million users of some kind of complementary or alternative medicine and the number continues to grow.

The prevalence of alternative medicine and treatment can be attributed to its multitude of benefits. Most alternative medicine focuses on curing the root cause, rather than just treating the symptoms. While using modern medicine can have side effects, alternative treatments can follow a natural, safer approach.

From fashion to health, we as a society continue to look up to celebrities for tips. So are Hollywood A-listers delving into the world of alternative therapies? Absolutely! Check what your favourite celebrities are into.

  • Acupuncture

One of the most popular forms of alternative therapies, Acupuncture involves inserting really thin needles at specific points in a person’s body. It has proven to be effective for many medical conditions such as lower back pain, high blood pressure, headaches and dental aches.

Celebrities like multi-talented Jennifer Lopez and Academy Award-winner Natalie Portman use acupuncture.

Tips for Applying for Life Insurance on the Internet

0

If you’ve been shopping around for life insurance through local agents, you’re truly missing out on an opportunity to open a policy that is both affordable and protective. The coverage that you take out will help to pay for funeral expenses and other bills in the event of your passing. Because many people will be without an income when a loved one dies, the life insurance policy essentially acts like a second income until the family can get themselves back on their feet financially. Shopping for this coverage online is a quick and easy process, and you can be approved in no time.

Compare Rates and Policies

The first thing you’ll want to do is to compare different rates and policies. This can be done by requesting a quote specifically from the company itself. They will let you know how much coverage will cost and how long the policy will be good for. Some accounts, like term life, are only valid for one or more decades. Once the policy has expired, its coverage is null and void so that it can’t be used. We recommend checking out SeniorsLifeInsuranceFinder.com to get the most competitive rates.

You’ll also want to make sure you have some type of communication with an agent, and let them do a health evaluation.  Why you may ask?  Because you might be ‘looking’ at unrealistic quotes given your health history.  Says Melissa Smith of Diabetes 365 ” many consumers don’t realize that when they go to a website, the quotes for life insurance that are advertised are often misleading.  A common example of this includes people with Diabetes seeing a really low priced quote and not understand they will not qualify for these rates.  Life insurance for type 2 diabetics or for type 1 diabetics will always be more expensive.  Life insurance with diabetes or any chronic illness is a little more complicated and requires a little guidance from an agent.” Moral of this story is to make sure your rates are accurate before actually appliyng.

Understand Coverage Options

Each type of insurance policy will have different coverage options and terms. Some policies are permanent and will have cash value over the course of the many years that you pay into them. Others are temporary, so you’ll need to be aware of changes that may happen as the account expires. Others may even offer long-term care insurance, which essentially pays for necessary expenses in the event that you need to go to a nursing home or assisted living facility. Being aware of what’s included within the premium will help you to choose the right company for this coverage.

Set Up Automatic Bill Pay

The beauty about using the internet to apply for life insurance is that you can set up automatic bill pay. This means that you won’t need to worry or think about the premium every single month. The amount is deducted from your bank account automatically, which can reduce confusion and possible late fees. If you fail to pay your premium rates regularly, you may face issues with the closure of your account.

Have a Physical Done

Many life insurance companies will require that applicants have a physical exam done by a trusted doctor. This is because you should be practicing healthy living enough to take out the policy. If you are unhealthy, unfit or have a myriad of health conditions, you could be denied coverage because you are seen as a liability. Some companies may not require that a physical be done, but they might still ask some health questions on the application.

Keep Track of Your Account

Once you’ve been approved for your life insurance plan and you’ve been paying the premium each month, it’s time to keep track of and review your account regularly. If you have whole coverage, you may be able to draw on the amount that you’ve accumulated, which can come in handy during emergencies. For other people, they can add and remove beneficiaries as it becomes necessary.
