Panthers All-Time Tackle Leader Is Back – Thomas Davis To Sign New Carolina Contract

0

Arguably one of the greatest linebackers to play for Carolina is about to sign a new contract with the Panthers.

After 2 seasons with the LA Chargers and Washington Football Team, All-Pro LB Thomas Davis will sign a 1-day contract with the Carolina Panthers to return home and officially retire.

Davis was picked by Carolina in the 1st round of the 2005 draft and quickly racked up the numbers to become the Panthers’ all-time tackle leader with 1,258 total tackles, including 30 sacks, in 176 regular-season games and 11 playoff games before being signed to the Chargers in 2019.

“To be able to play 16 years in this league has truly been a blessing, and I can’t thank God enough for seeing fit to put me in this position to do that,” Davis said. “To the Carolina fanbase, I just want to say to you guys, you guys have been tremendous throughout my entire career. I can not thank you guys enough for your love and support. I can not wait to sign that one-day (contract) and retire a Panther. Keep pounding.”

Mecklenburg County Lighting a ‘Controlled Burn’ Today at Noon

0

The Mecklenburg County Natural Resources staff has just announced that they will be setting the Rural Hill Nature Preserve on fire today at noon as part of a controlled burn.

The county sent out an alert noting that smoke will be seen around North Charlotte today between 12pm and 3pm:

“Mecklenburg County Natural Resources staff are conducting a controlled burn today beginning around noon at Rural Hill Nature Preserve. Smoke will affect air quality in the downwind area for 2-3 hours. To reduce your exposure to smoke, stay indoors or avoid areas of heavy smoke.”

According to the Mecklenburg County website, “land managers use controlled burns (also known as prescribed fire) to mimic the natural disturbance caused by the natural fires of years ago. These fires are carefully planned and conducted under specific weather conditions to achieve specific goals. In this way fire can safely be used as a management tool.”

Myrtle Beach Ranked The 3rd Most Dangerous City in America For 2021

0

The pandemic has created major challenges and lifestyle changes for Americans. With more remote work opportunities, people are migrating to cheaper and less crowded cities. To help our readers with that decision, we crunched the numbers to determine what cities they might want to avoid if safety is a primary concern.

According to the FBI’s latest US Crime Report, Myrtle Beach, SC is now officially the 3rd most dangerous city in the United States. To rank the most dangerous cities, we analyzed the data from cities with a population of 10,000 or more and evaluated the number of reported violent crimes (murder, robbery, aggravated assault, and forcible rape), other personal crimes (simple assault, intimidation, involuntary servitude, kidnapping/abduction), and other property crimes (burglary, arson, motor vehicle theft, and larceny-theft).

According to the FBI’s data, these are the top 5 most dangerous cities for 2021:

  1. Muskegon Heights, Michigan
  2. Tukwila, Washington
  3. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
  4. Memphis, Tennessee
  5. Little Rock, Arkansas.

Myrtle Beach wasn’t the once South Carolina city that earned exceptionally low scores. A total of 8 Palmetto State cities ranked among the bottom 30 in America out of a total of 1,434, including; Myrtle Beach (#3), Cayce (#12), Gaffney (#15), Greenwood (#16), Spartanburg (#17), Florence (#18), and Forest Acres (#26).

6 Things To Look For In An Injury Lawyer

0
Medical law, health law concept. Gavel and stethoscope on dark wooden backgound top view.

In terms of finding an injury lawyer for your case, you’re putting all your trust in a professional to represent you or look out for your interests. Unfortunately, not all lawyers focus on personal injury law only. Lawyers don’t have the same experience and qualifications. This is why it’s wise to ask or look around before you finalized your decision.

If you want to find the best and right injury lawyer for your case, make sure to keep the following things in mind:

  • Years of Experience

When it comes to experience, it’s crucial that you trust in an injury lawyer who’ll represent you directly rather than turning over their workload to other lawyers. You’ll also need an injury lawyer with many years of experience in the field.

For instance, if you got hurt on your job and you need help to file a claim, make sure that your chosen injury lawyer has handled similar cases before. You can check out this guide to know what to when you got hurt on your job. Overall, the experience is crucial if you want to get the best possible results from your case.

  • Areas of Practice

There are some areas of focus and many things involved in personal injury law. However, it’s essential that you find an injury lawyer that focuses on the kind of accident you’re involved in. For example, if a lawyer hasn’t handled boat accidents before, it’s not a good option for you to hire a legal expert who doesn’t have any knowledge about such accidents. So, make sure to check the areas of practice of your preferred law officers before choosing one.

  • Clear Communication

The best injury lawyers will make it much easier for you to understand what they can do to help you get the settlement you deserve. They’ll give you clear information about their fees, process, values, and so on. If you have some questions, they must answer you properly.

If lawyers can’t provide clear insights into their practice during your meeting or first consultation, there’s a chance that you’ll have problems with communication in the long run once you hire them.

  • Reputation

Another important thing to look for is the reputation of injury lawyers. The reputation of your injury lawyer matter for this means that insurance providers and the other party’s lawyers will take your representation seriously and would be more willing to settle everything. Without the reputation to fight for their clients, the lawyer has to work hard just to get the justice you deserve.

  • Fees and Costs

Most injury lawyers represent their clients on a contingency fee basis, which means that you don’t pay the retainer fees once you hire one. The fees of injury lawyers will be based on the recovery fee’s percentage. The costs of the case and fees will be deducted from the amount of settlement before you get any cash for your claims.

If injury lawyers didn’t win your case, the costs of the case may or may not be payable. However, it’s crucial to be specific whenever you’re asking about the costs. Know if you should reimburse the lawyer for the costs if he or she doesn’t recover the settlement you deserve.

  • Success Rates

The majority of injury cases are settled without going to court. If you like to get positive results from your case, one of the things you should look for in an injury lawyer is their success rates. Injury lawyers must be talented and skilled negotiators. But, several cases lead to trials. Thus, you might want a lawyer who’s an aggressive trial lawyer.

When looking for personal injury lawyers, don’t forget to ask about their area of practice as well as their success rates. Lawyers who settle most of their cases are the ones you should hire.

Conclusion

Finding an injury lawyer who will represent you isn’t something you should take lightly. Ensure to remember the things that are listed above when you’re looking for an injury lawyer. You’ll be able to spot the one that will handle your case successfully.

Subsonic Ammo

0

What is Subsonic ammunition, and why might you need it in your firearm stockpile? There is a lot of hype behind these bullets, but if you are not up to date on trends it can be easy to miss the memo. With the rise in suppressor popularity, it is being noticed that subsonic ammo is the perfect match if your goal is a quiet shot. While the difference may not be noticeable without a silencer or suppressor, there is a big difference in sound produced versus supersonic ammunition when triggered. (Soruce)

What is Subsonic Ammunition?

Subsonic ammo by definition is a bullet that fails to travel faster than the speed of sound, preventing it from breaking the sound barrier (this creates the loud crack that you typically hear when a round is shot). When combined with noise suppression, subsonic ammunition will create a noticeable change in noise, preventing unnecessary sound while shooting your firearm. This can be a huge benefit for adding stealth and discretion to your shooting when used safely.

What are the Benefits of Subsonic Ammo?

The main benefit of subsonic ammunition is the lack of noise produced when shooting compared to supersonic ammo. When combined with the correct firearm and noise suppressor, this ammo can make for a reliable and quiet shot, potentially leading to an improved hunting experience and self defense usage. This makes it a great addition to any arsenal if you are a serious collector and user; however, you will need the right firearm and suppressor to avoid misuse.

What you need to know about Subsonic Ammunition

Not all firearms are made to cycle subsonic ammunition. Some calibers are too small or lack the power to effectively use the heavier, slower rounds. Other weapons do not have the barrel rifling that subsonic rounds need to stabilize in the barrel of your firearm. If you want to learn more about types of ammunition and their usage, you should check some quality reviews that can help you with this.

Aside from having to verify that the ammo and gun are compatible, a suppressor/silencer will also have to be added to see the actual benefit of subsonic ammo. While it may not have the same crack, like any other ammunition it will naturally still be loud when shot. On the other side of things, a suppressor will quiet your shot, but supersonic ammo still produces that crack. By utilizing both the subsonic ammo and a suppression device, rounds can be sent down range much more discreetly.

When purchasing subsonic ammo, you also need to make sure that your firearm is able to produce an accurate shot with the added weight. Because this ammunition is usually heavier and fires at a slower rate (typically under 1100 FPS), a tighter rifling and or more powder is required to make sure the round fires accurately. Without ensuring this, you could end up with a misfire or botched shot.

Not only are some weapons inaccurate when used with subsonic ammo, but it can cause the round to hit your suppressor in certain situations. If the ammunition is unable to stabilize before exiting the barrel, you may end up causing a baffle strike. This can cause some serious damage to property and to yourself, so researching how your firearm’s rifling and caliber responds to different ammo is a very important part of the decision making process. When researched and applied safely, this type of ammunition can be a great tool for your future shooting.

How to choose Subsonic Ammo

The quality of the subsonic ammo you are firing may also be a key factor in how well it performs. Not all ammunition is made the same, and subsonic is no exception to tha. Depending on how much powder is used, the casing space and load size/material, you may find that some rounds will work far better in your particular gun. Depending on how the round is packed, marksman will experience more or less shot stability. This means that tightly packed ammo has less chance of losing accuracy or causing rifle damage.

The charge amount can heavily impact your shot as well. When paired with the speed reduction of subsonic ammo, a weak charge might only be adding to inaccuracy. By matching your charge to the bullet weight, you can edge the supersonic point and keep accuracy while remaining in the subsonic category.

Subsonic ammunition is gaining in popularity because of the outstanding sound reduction when used with suppressors. While this might sound great if you are looking to add discretion to your shot, firing this type of ammo from a weapon that can’t efficiently stabilize the round can actually be dangerous to you, your surroundings. and your rifle.Suppressors are typically attached while using subsonic ammunition, and if the round exits the barrel without stability, it can cause a baffle strike. Supersonic ammo is fired fast enough to gain stability early on, so may be a better option to use in your gun. With many weapons, subsonic ammo is too heavy to use, but researching the way your firearm will react to subsonic ammo can help you find out if they will make a good pair.

South Carolina Senate Just Voted To Approve Death By Firing Squad

0

The South Carolina Senate has just voted 32-11 to approve the ability of a firing squad to execute inmates on death row in the state.

The decision came as the drugs used for lethal injection have become increasingly scarce.

Death Row Inmates in South Carolina have had the option of choosing between the electric chair and lethal injection, and recently, prisoners have chosen lethal injection after hearing it might delay their execution. Now, inmates can only choose lethal injection if the drugs are available at the time of their election, otherwise, they have to choose between the electric chair and a firing squad.

Senate Bill 200 specifically reads:

“A person convicted of a capital crime and having imposed upon him the sentence of death shall suffer the penalty by electrocution or, at the election of the convicted person, by firing squad or lethal injection, if it is available at the time of election, under the direction of the Director of the Department of Corrections. The election for death by electrocution, firing squad, or lethal injection must be made in writing fourteen days before each execution date or it is waived. If the convicted person receives a stay of execution or the execution date has passed for any reason, then the election expires and must be renewed in writing fourteen days before a new execution date. If the convicted person waives the right of election, then the penalty must be administered by electrocution.”

South Carolina will become just the 4th state in the nation to include a firing squad as part of their executions, joining Utah, Oklahoma, and Mississippi.

There are currently 37 death row inmates in South Carolina.

How To Improve Your Retirement Financial Situation

0

North Carolina is a great place to retire, but like everywhere else, you need to have the money to do so. One of the best ways to live comfortably during retirement is to save up early throughout your adult life. However, not everyone has this ability. For many of us, we earn just enough money to get by throughout our lives and don’t have enough to put away for retirement. If you’re nearing retirement and you don’t have a lot saved up, you may be wondering how you’ll afford it. Below are some suggestions that may improve your financial situation and make things a little easier during retirement.

Get a Part-Time Job

Even though you are retiring from your full-time position, that may not mean that you can’t work. Maybe you just want to work fewer hours or perform a less stressful job. A part-time job is a good thing to think about in this situation. There are some great jobs for recent retirees, which would allow you to earn some extra income without having to work 40 hours per week. You could then add your part-time earnings to whatever savings you have along with your social security benefits. If you haven’t retired yet, you could even get a part-time job on the weekends now and put all that money into savings.

Look for Ways to Cut Costs

Another good thing to think about is cutting costs. Most retirees don’t need to spend as much to get by as they once did. For example, maybe your kids are now out of the home or you don’t need to commute to work each day. If you can find areas to cut back costs, even if it’s just a few dollars here and there, it will make a big difference.

Downsizing is a significant way to cut costs if you need it. If you’re a homeowner, you may not need as much space as you once did. Selling your home, and a lot of the stuff in it, and moving to a smaller location would not only reduce monthly costs, but you could put the profits into your savings. There are some excellent retirement communities within North Carolina, or you could find a smaller home or apartment to rent.

Consider a Reverse Mortgage

If you are a homeowner, consider using a reverse mortgage to help fund your retirement. A reverse mortgage is when you use the equity built up on your home to secure a loan. You get to keep your home but also have an influx of cash to add to your retirement strategy. Using a reverse mortgage calculator, like the one found here https://reverse.mortgage/calculator, can help you see how much you could borrow. Be sure to consider all the pros and cons of a reverse mortgage before proceeding, as this loan isn’t right for everyone.

Seek Additional Assistance

Finally, there are people and resources out there that can help you out of a difficult situation. If you aren’t sure of the best path to take, consider talking to a financial advisor. Explain to them your situation and they will help you come up with the best solution. Working with a financial advisor costs money, but if they significantly improve your money situation in retirement, it’s likely worth the cost.

There are also groups that exist to help people with the transition into retirement. This includes not only the monetary transition but all the other changes you can expect. For example, the AARP offers advice and services aimed at helping retirees. Make use of any organization you can find and learn as much as you can about transitioning into retirement as early as possible.

Avoid Retirement Stress

You’ve worked hard your entire life and you deserve a peaceful retirement. To achieve this, you need to get your financial situation figured out as best as you can. Take the time to go through your own financial records and see what you can do to improve things. This might include getting another job, cutting back on your expenses, or even taking out a loan.

If, after going through everything, you’re still at a loss for what to do, reach out for help. There are people in your life and organizations within the state that can help you out in your time of need. Hopefully, this guide was able to offer you some help on the best way to proceed. North Carolina is a great place to retire, and we want you to enjoy it as much as possible.
