The Texas-based acai eatery will open their 7th national location at the intersection of Hawkins and Tremont, right next to the soon-to-open Frenchy’s, KSQ Design, and the QC Pourhouse.

With over 800,000 new TV shows available each year, it’s safe to say that there’s plenty of content out there. According to viewing data, the most popular services are Netflix and Hulu. Using data from Google Trends, it’s possible to find out which states can’t resist streaming and where North Carolina ranks among them.
When you look at the five major streaming services available, the only one that is the favorite in over half of US states is Hulu. People in Montana and Vermont are searching for it the most. In North Carolina however, it seems that Netflix is the favorite. A lot of its popularity could be down to the new Netflix gaming platform, which is now available widely across the US. This has led to bolstered growth in states such as New Jersey, which is now experiencing a 12% growth in gaming revenue. In North Carolina for example there’s a strong preference for The Diplomat, whereas in Oklahoma, the viewership for Kaleidoscope is higher. Wyoming prefers shows like Beef, with Utah having higher streaming numbers for Harry and Meghan.
It’s interesting to see where North Carolina ranks in terms of streaming stats for the US, and it’s also plain to see that some states have a preference for some streaming services over others. National homebuilder Lennar this week announced plans to start building at least 1,800 new homes at a massive new development off Charlotte Highway.
Situated on a 1,475-acre plot between downtown Lancaster and Charlotte, the new Roselyn development promises a blend of modern living and natural beauty.
Construction is set to proceed in seven phases, with homes in the first phase starting in the coming weeks. Amenities will include; a clubhouse, swimming pool, fitness center, pickleball courts, and extensive green spaces.
The project, greenlit by Lancaster County in 2018 and acquired by Lennar in 2019, also includes a future 84-acre, $73 million regional park, funded by a 2% hospitality tax.

The Mecklenburg County Natural Resources staff has just announced that they will be setting Davidson on fire today at noon as part of a controlled burn.
The county sent out an alert noting that smoke will be seen between North Charlotte and Davidson today between 12pm and 3pm:
“The Town of Davidson and Davidson Lands Conservancy is conducting a controlled burn today beginning around noon at Fisher Farm. Smoke will affect air quality in the downwind area for 2-3 hours. To reduce your exposure to smoke, stay indoors or avoid areas of heavy smoke.”
According to the Mecklenburg County website, “land managers use controlled burns (also known as prescribed fire) to mimic the natural disturbance caused by the natural fires of years ago. These fires are carefully planned and conducted under specific weather conditions to achieve specific goals. In this way fire can safely be used as a management tool.”
A massive cement truck flipped over Tuesday afternoon in Huntersville, leading to significant traffic delays around the area.
The fully-loaded mixer overturned on Old Statesville Road, opposite Lake Norman Charter School, causing a blockage on the northbound lane of North Carolina 115.
Emergency teams, including the Huntersville Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene following initial reports of a person trapped inside the vehicle. Upon arrival, they found that all individuals were safe and managed to contain a fuel spill from the truck.

Authorities advised motorists to steer clear of Old Statesville Road and North Carolina 115 for an unspecified period. As alternatives, drivers were directed towards Statesville Road/U.S. 21 or could use Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road to access Old Statesville Road beyond the accident site.
The situation was resolved within a few hours, with the truck being towed away and the area cleaned up, allowing traffic to return to normal. The Huntersville Fire Department confirmed that there were no injuries from the incident.

North Carolina has just emerged as the national leader in geospatial data management according to the 2023 Geospatial Maturity Assessment (GMA) report released this week by the National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC). North Carolina, along with the District of Columbia, were the only jurisdictions to receive an “A” grade.
The NSGIC’s GMA report evaluates each state’s efforts in building a robust geospatial infrastructure. This includes the development and maintenance of crucial datasets like addresses, property boundaries (parcels), elevation data, and imagery.
“This recognition demonstrates why North Carolina is considered a national leader in data-driven decision making,” said NCDIT Secretary and State Chief Information Officer Jim Weaver in a press release. “The skill, expertise and dedication of GIS professionals across the state is helping North Carolina realize a huge return on its investment in geographic information systems and geospatial data.”
