Avelo Airlines just announced plans to launch a new hub at the Concord Airport – they will officially become the second commercial airline to join the terminal, which is currently home to Allegiant Air.

Avelo’s first ultra-low-cost flight out of Concord will take off in May, with nonstop flights twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, to Tweed-New Haven Airport in Connecticut, on a Boeing 737-800 with a capacity of 189 passengers.

The new service will be the only direct connection between Charlotte and southern Connecticut, with prices set at just $62 per seat.

Launched in April 2021, Houston-based Avelo Airlines focuses on connecting smaller airports and underserved communities across the United States, including 47 destinations in 23 states and Puerto Rico. The airline’s expansion includes new routes from New Haven to Atlanta, Destin, Florida, and Knoxville, Tennessee.

Avelo’s arrival at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport comes just a couple years after the city of Concord unveiled a $12.6 million terminal complex to accommodate increased flight schedules. Allegiant currently offers flights from Concord to several Florida destinations.
