A massive cement truck flipped over Tuesday afternoon in Huntersville, leading to significant traffic delays around the area.
The fully-loaded mixer overturned on Old Statesville Road, opposite Lake Norman Charter School, causing a blockage on the northbound lane of North Carolina 115.
Emergency teams, including the Huntersville Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene following initial reports of a person trapped inside the vehicle. Upon arrival, they found that all individuals were safe and managed to contain a fuel spill from the truck.
*CRASH* Station 1 working an overturned cement truck in the 12700 Block of Old Statesville Rd. Initially came to us as a patient pinned inside. HFD crews arrived to find all patients free. We’ve controlled a fuel leak & should be clearing shortly. Expect delays. #CLTtraffic pic.twitter.com/NsU9XmN5I1

Authorities advised motorists to steer clear of Old Statesville Road and North Carolina 115 for an unspecified period. As alternatives, drivers were directed towards Statesville Road/U.S. 21 or could use Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road to access Old Statesville Road beyond the accident site.
The situation was resolved within a few hours, with the truck being towed away and the area cleaned up, allowing traffic to return to normal. The Huntersville Fire Department confirmed that there were no injuries from the incident.
