This 23 Foot Long Green Anaconda Picture Was Not Taken In The Carolinas

We first discovered this image on local Dallas resident Rusty Mackey‘s Facebook profile with over 1,000 shares so we decided to do some investigating.

It turns out that this pictures of a 23 foot long green anaconda was originally taken in South America, and about 3 weeks ago it was posted on Facebook, claiming to have been taken in South Carolina’s Broad River, then someone else posted it claiming it was in Bush River. Now it’s circulating around the rivers of North Carolina…all the same image taken from South America.

Although this image may not have been taken in the Carolinas, Green Anacondas have recently begun to reproduce in the wild in the Florida Everglades, but so far there’s no record of a snake this big traveling this far north (other than pet snakes being let loose or escaping).

Here is the image that first tipped us off on Rusty Mackey’s profile;

Female Veteran From Concord Found Nasty Note Left On Car After Parking In A Veteran Spot

0

A veteran from Concord just gave the perfect response to an incredibly nasty note that was left on her car, after she parked in a Veteran Parking spot, accusing her of abusing the spot.

The incident happened this past Monday at the Harris Teeter at the Coddle Creek Shopping Center.

After about 30 minutes in the store, she came out to notice a small piece of paper under her windshield wiper that read;

“This parking is for veterans, lady. Learn to read & have some respect.”

Her response was perfect:

“I’m sorry that you can’t see my eight years of service in the United Sates Navy. I’m sorry that your narrow misogynistic world view can’t conceive of the fact that there are female Veterans. I’m sorry that I have to explain myself to people like you. Mostly, I’m sorry that we didn’t get a chance to have this conversation face to face, and that you didn’t have the integrity and intestinal fortitude to identify yourself, qualities the military emphasizes.

Which leads to one question, I served, did you?”

Hayes, who served in the U.S. Navy for eight years, said she normally doesn’t use the two parking places reserved for veterans at the store. But she said both were empty.

Jonas Brother’s Family Restaurant Just Opened West of Charlotte

0

The Jonas Brother’s family just opened their first restaurant in honor of their beloved grandmother, Nellie, who passed away in 2011.

The vibe is welcoming and the location is both convenient and historic, but what really sets this restaurant apart (besides it’s celebrity owners) is the food. Pure Southern comfort cuisine made with fresh local ingredients – fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, and some of the best homemade breads and pastries in the Charlotte region. If you want the taste without all the calories, they also offer several lighter versions of their favorite Southern comfort food.

The Jonas Brother’s father, Kevin Jonas Sr., is the primary force behind the new 10,000-square-foot venture at the corner of Main and Catawba streets in downtown Belmont – the historic space was once home to an antique and consignment shop.

nellies jonas brothers restaurantThe Jonas Brothers originally grew up in the Charlotte region and now have about 60 relatives in the area. They can trace their roots in the Queen City back to the 1760s.

“When we open Nellie’s Southern Kitchen, it is a way to honor my family but also to re-invest in Belmont. Our hometown is thriving, and we want to help bring more visitors to town. Kevin, Joe and Nick have always loved visiting Belmont and look forward to their continued visits as we open the restaurant.” Jonas commented in a recent press release.

The restaurant is now hiring most positions – you can visit nelliessouthernkitchen.com to download an application, and then submit it to jobs@nelliessouthernkitchen.com, or call 704.396.7169 to arrange a time to submit your application in person.

Futuristic Top Golf Complex Was Just Approved For South Charlotte Location

0

top golf charlotteTopgolf International Inc. was just approved for a massive new regional facility in SouthWest Charlotte. It will be the company’s first full-size complex in the area, to be built at the Whitehall Corporate Center (that place with the giant spinning head fountain).

Topgolf Charlotte will be a futuristic “golf entertainment complex” offering targeted games where players hit ‘microchipped’ balls as close to various targets and special zones as possible. The balls individually record their location before and after they are hit, and give individual scores for each player. They will also feature a full food and drink menu – catering to golfers and non-golfers of all skill levels.

“We needed a super-regional facility and by that I mean something with highway access and large trip counts,” commented development manager Ted Heilbron.

Heilbron said the company has been looking at moving into Charlotte for two years.

The new complex will mean 480 new jobs and a $30 million paycheck to Mecklenburg County in taxes over 20 years.

The company also stated that if the Whitehall complex proves to be a hit, they will move quickly to build a second location in the North Charlotte/Lake Norman area.
