Jimmy John’s Is About To Sell Their Subs For $1

In honor of its annual Customer Appreciation Day, Charlotte-area Jimmy John’s will be offering $1 sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 2nd

These are all the participating Jimmy John’s in the city of Charlotte;

Jimmy John’s locations in Concord, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Matthews, Gastonia, Huntersville, and pretty much every other town in the Charlotte region will also be offering the $1 subs. You can browse all of Jimmy John’s participating stores here on its website

Here are the rules:

  • Only one sub per person, and you have to purchase it in the store.
  • Sandwiches included in the deal are #1-#6, BLT, and Slims
  • All sandwiches come on Jimmy John’s French bread, but JJ Unwich® lettuce wraps will also be available. There may be an additional fee for JJ’s 9-grain wheat bread depending on the location.

The 2017 NFL Draft Has Started – Panthers Pick Christian McCaffrey In The First Round

Last night the 2017 NFL Draft began with the first round. The Panthers had a 1st round pick at #8 and they decided to go with the star running back from Stanford, Christian McCaffrey.

Most sports commentators say that it was a great decision for the Panthers, as McCaffrey is an extremely versatile player, excelling as a tackle-breaking running back, wide receiver, and even punt returner. Hopefully he will take some much needed pressure of Cam and give the Panthers a wide array of new options.

The Panthers will now have two second-round picks (Nos. 40 and 64) and one third round pick (98). They currently need some upgrades at defensive end, tight end, and offensive tackle. The Panthers might also select a star linebacker or cornerback, as 34-year-old Thomas Davis may be entering his final year.

Massive Rally Against The i77 Toll Lanes Is Planned For Friday

toll lanes stoppedAlmost two year ago, a group of concerned citizens gathered on the Exit 28 bridge to stand against the i77 toll lanes – that group is now an official non-profit called ‘Widen i77‘. Since then, they’ve seen the towns of Mooresville, Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville as well as the counties of Iredell and Mecklenburg all pass resolutions either asking for the toll lanes to be stopped or delayed.

In one of the biggest public displays of opposition to the toll lanes, the group is about to hold their second rally on the Exit 28 bridge.

North Carolina is currently in the process of determining the cost of changing the toll lanes to free lanes. The Widen i77 group is now hoping that if enough people show their opposition, the tolls might be changed to normal lanes.

The public rally will be held on Friday, April 28th, from 5:30pm until dark (stop by even if you’re late) at the Exit 28 bridge in Cornelius – anyone who opposes the toll lanes is welcome and picket signs are encouraged!

Charlotte SWAT Team Called To Diffuse A Hostage Situation In East Charlotte

swat-takes-down-man-in-charlotteEarly this afternoon the Charlotte SWAT team was called to a East Charlotte apartment complex to help arrest a man who had barricaded himself inside one of the units with a woman and her child.

The investigation initially started at around 1:23pm after police tried to serve several outstanding warrants on 30-year-old Kendrick Parry, according to CMPD. One of the warrants was for assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon.

The SWAT unit arrived on scene at around 3pm:

The altercation initially began this morning on East WT Harris Blvd. during a routine traffic stop. When they ran Parry’s licence, officers were told that the driver had felony warrants and a probation violation.

The moment they told Parry to step out of his vehicle, he began to drive off, dragging dragged one of the officers about 20 feet with his car, according to CMPD. He then barricaded himself inside an apartment at the end of Frontenac Lane with a woman and her child.

Around 5:16 p.m. this evening, SWAT and CMPD officers were able to peacefully arrest Parry and take him into custody.

I-85 Will Be Shutting Down On Thursday Night

NCDOT is about to shut down I-85 in Concord this coming Thursday night for several hours.

They announced that the closures will be due to the I-85 widening project in order to set girders for the South Main Street bridge that goes over I-85.

Fortunately the closure won’t be all at once – road crews will shut down the highway for 1/2 hour increments until 6am on Friday morning.

All traffic will be detoured onto N.C. 73 then onto U.S. 29 before getting back onto I-85.

Van Rams Police Cars During High-Speed Chase Down I-77 (Video)

curtis-luther-dalton-jr-police-chase-i77Police were involved in a high-speed chase down I-77 this afternoon. The were pursuing a man that was wanted in connection with a home invasion.

Officers began chasing the suspect on Debbie Lane in Iredell County, which soon moved onto I-77 where the suspect rammed squad cars and ultimately spun out of control.

WSOC’s Chopper 9 was able to capture this footage of the chase as it unfolded:

The driver of the white van was identified as as Curtis Luther Dalton Jr., AKA Bubba, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were looking for him in connection with a home invasion.

The white van initially escaped the police, but then was re-spotted on Debbie Lane. Police tried ramming him several times – at one point, the van even rammed back.

After several failed attempts, officers were finally able to put it into a spin. Several squad cars pulled up and officers quickly surrounded the van with guns drawn:

Dalton was then pulled out of his vehicle on onto the median where over a dozen officers restrained him.

The ±95-acre site along Statesville Road was formerly home to Metrolina Expo when Beacon Partners purchased the property in June 2016.

“We are very excited to expand our warehousing footprint here in Charlotte,” stated Scott Carr, President of Bonded Logistics. “The city has become a major hub in the Southeast for companies in need of logistics services. This building is a perfect location as it sits next to several of our other facilities, creating a campus atmosphere that encompasses over 750,000 square feet. The modern space is expansive and customizable, offering us an open canvas to grow our current business as well as take on new clients. We really appreciate Beacon bringing this opportunity to us. They are a great partner to Bonded and have been a big part of our company’s growth over the years.”

“Metrolina Park provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop this state-of-the-art industrial park,” said Tim Robertson, Director of Industrial Leasing at Beacon Partners. “That a company of the caliber of Bonded Logistics has made such a significant commitment demonstrates the intrinsic quality and value that Metrolina Park offers.”

Beacon Partners is currently building two of the planned speculative industrial buildings at Metrolina Park. When completed, Building 1 (7224 Statesville Road) will be a 140,634 square foot rear-load facility fronting Statesville Road. Building 2 (5224 Gibbon Road) will be a 495,950 square foot cross-dock building positioned just off the park’s main entrance.

Both are scheduled to deliver in the first half of 2017.

8,000 Gallons of Raw Sewage Has Just Spilled Into Lake Norman

Roughly 8,000 gallons of sewage has just leaked into a Lake Norman cove yesterday.

Aqua, Lake Norman’s primary water provider, announced yesterday’s spill was due to a clogged manhole, which was discovered at around yesterday afternoon on Williamson Rd.

The company said that the spill has now been stopped, and that the brown water has been jetted, pumped, and removed.

Yesterday, at about the same time as the sewage spill, Aqua sent out the following alert to Mooresville residents: “Outage: Aqua had to temporarily shut off the water supply in your subdivision so we could make an emergency repair. When water service is restored, you might experience discoloration that can be cleared up by running your outside faucets for a short time. After a water utility must interrupt water service, the North Carolina Division of Water Resources suggests that customers boil water used for human consumption for 1 to 2 minutes before use. This includes water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing teeth.”

Aqua has stated that they have taken lake samples to evaluate any environmental impact of the spill.
