What’s the Difference Between CBD Oil and CBD Tincture?

0

If you have spent any time combing through different CBD retailers online, you will likely have run into these confusing terms.

There will be plenty of full-spectrum CBD oil for sale on sites like Premium Jane. However, on a different website, or perhaps just on the very next page, there will be a listing for a CBD tincture. The descriptions won’t really help you decipher what they are, nor provide a breakdown of the differences between them.

So, what is the difference between CBD oils and CBD tinctures?

What Is a CBD Oil?

CBD oil didn’t used to be as well-known as it is now, but these days it feels like it is almost everywhere. CBD oil is quite a simple product, despite its rather complicated reputation. It is really nothing more than a carrier oil that has been imbued with extracted cannabinoids.

CBD is extracted from cannabis and hemp plants using a process known as CO2 extraction. The CBD is whisked away from its plant, leaving the vital compounds undamaged. It is then immersed in an oil solution, creating CBD oil.

You can take CBD oil in many different ways, though it is typically taken orally. The choice of carrier oil differs between individual brands, with some preferring hemp seed oil and others preferring coconut oil.

The great thing about CBD oil is that it offers up the ability to adulterate its flavors; you can mix in all kinds of flavor compounds or terpenes to improve the flavor of the CBD oil. The CBD itself has a particularly bitter taste when taken directly, so many consumers prefer to flavor it somehow.

Some people enjoy taking it directly under their tongue, whereas others use it to flavor their food. Some people even make edibles from them, using the CBD oil as a replacement for some of the fat in any given baking recipe.

There are also some people who believe that using fatty oil as the carrier for the CBD means that it will be absorbed into the body all the more quickly, whereas others like it simply because it is cheaper and easier to buy in bulk.

What about a CBD tincture, though? What makes it so fundamentally different?

What Is a CBD Tincture?

Fundamentally speaking, CBD tinctures and CBD oil are pretty similar. They are both easy ways to enjoy CBD without having to deal with the hassle and potential health ramifications of smoking.

However, CBD tinctures are slightly different from CBD oil in that they are made from different substances. Where CBD oil is made using fatty oil and CBD, CBD tinctures use alcohol instead. This small amount of distilled alcohol keeps the CBD suspended, allowing you to easily store your CBD tincture for years at a time and still take it effectively.

CBD tinctures are a bit of an older way to enjoy CBD, or any substances at all, these days. Back in the day, any time you wanted a medicine of any sort, it would usually be administered as a tincture. Now that we have better industrial practices and more advanced medication, CBD oil has naturally begun to replace tinctures almost entirely.

The main reason to enjoy CBD tinctures over CBD oils is that tinctures are much more neutral tasting. Some people really abhor the flavor of CBD oil, regardless of what kind of flavoring agents are added to it.

With CBD tinctures, it is pretty challenging to taste the CBD at all, as it is entirely dwarfed by the strong taste of distilled alcohol.

However, for most purposes and for most people, CBD oil is really the way to go. It is a lot easier to add in flavorful terpenes and other cannabinoids, as well as being a decent amount cheaper to produce and purchase. Alternatively you could go down the organic route and opt for a more natural CBD oil which does not include reams of additives and unknown ingredients. Have a look at Cannacares organic, vegan-friendly CBD oil which can be purchased from https://www.cannacares.co.uk/collections/cbd-oil-tinctures.

Final Thoughts on CBD Oils and CBD Tinctures

One final thing to keep in mind is that, much like the rest of the English language, the world of cannabinoids is continually changing and renaming things. This is why some stores will use CBD oil and CBD tincture interchangeably, as if they are the same thing.

While you will still certainly be able to find some traditional CBD tinctures made with alcohol on offer, they are usually pretty few and far between. Most of the time, these days, if a company is advertising CBD tincture, they actually mean CBD oil, as they cannot even imagine using CBD tincture.

It is also to do with marketing – ‘CBD tincture’ sounds a lot more medical and beneficial than CBD oil, so some brands prefer to call it a tincture.

Make sure you are checking what the label of your CBD product says to find out if it has alcohol or fat in it, just in case.

This, on top of all the other stress-factors that people already go through today, like loss of income, adjustments in work, and study arrangements, among others.

To learn more about CBD gummies and whether or not it’ll get you high, read more below.

A Brief Background On CBD Gummies

It’s almost impossible to shop for CBD without stumbling upon CBD gummy bears. A prevalent form of CBD, gummies are the perfect solution for a quick and discreet dose of CBD.

CBD gummies, along with many other CBD edibles, are often confused with the marijuana edibles that you might find in an Amsterdam coffee shop. The confusion between these two very different products leaves people worried that CBD gummy supplements will get them high.

Is there any truth behind the myth that CBD gummies can cause the same psychoactive effects as marijuana edibles? Or are CBD edibles merely a quick and tasty way to give your body a convenient CBD dose?

Let’s take a closer look at CBD gummies and whether they can get you high.

What Are CBD Gummies?

CBD oil gummies are just one of the many CBD edibles options that are available. Just like regular gummies, CBD gummies offer a delicious sweet treat in a wide range of fun shapes and tasty flavors. The only difference is with the added ingredient, cannabidiol.

CBD gummies tend to contain a much smaller concentration of CBD than you might find in other CBD products, such as CBD oil tinctures and CBD capsules. The idea behind CBD gummies is that you can consume multiple throughout the day, like you would with regular gummies and candies. Each gummy provides your body with a small dose of CBD.

However, to ensure that you’re staying on the safe side, make sure that you know for certain the dose that your body can tolerate. You might have to consult with a medical professional. That way, you’re getting the optimum dose for the best possible effects on your body.

Some people find that CBD gummies are the ideal way to boost their CBD levels throughout the day when using them in conjunction with stronger CBD products. For others, CBD gummies alone provide a sufficient dosage for a consistent CBD level all day long.

The Legality Of CBD Gummies

On a federal level in the United States, CBD products that contain less than 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol are considered legal. Most CBD gummies with the brand Charlotte’s Web CBD Oil also have less than this amount. So, if you have CBD gummies with that tetrahydrocannabinol percentage, you don’t have to worry about it being illegal as it won’t get you high

However, even if this is legal on a federal level, your state laws may dictate otherwise. Hence, do check for that also.

The Cannabinoid Breakdown of CBD Gummies

CBD is just one of the cannabinoids found in hemp and cannabis plants. There are, in fact, hundreds of cannabinoids – such as CBC, CBDa, and CBN – that work in similar ways to CBD, helping to boost both your physical and mental health.

There are also cannabinoids, such as THC, which are linked to the psychoactive effects that people associate with cannabis. There are strict laws governing exactly how much THC a CBD supplement can contain. In the UK, for example, CBD products cannot legally contain more than 0.2% THC. Meanwhile, in the USA, many states have set the limit at 0.3% THC.

The small amounts of THC that are legally allowed in CBD products are so small that they cannot cause a high. This means that, when purchasing CBD gummies from reputable retailers that conform with government regulations, you don’t have to worry about any potential psychoactive effects.

Types of CBD Gummies

As with all CBD products, there are a few different types of CBD gummies. The three main terms that you will encounter when purchasing CBD gummies are CBD isolate, full-spectrum CBD, and broad-spectrum CBD.

CBD isolate refers to products that contain only pure CBD. Intensive filtration processes are used to remove all of the cannabinoids other than the CBD. The result is pure CBD, which can then be infused into products such as CBD gummies.

The main benefit of CBD isolate is that you are guaranteed a product that is entirely free from THC, and therefore cannot cause you to experience a high.

Full-spectrum CBD, on the other hand, allows you to experience CBD in a much more natural form. While some filtration is used to ensure that the CBD solution conforms with legal THC limits, a full-spectrum product contains all other cannabinoids.

Most CBD gummies are made using full-spectrum CBD, as proponents believe that the full spectrum allows you to take advantage of the entourage effect. Of course, alongside all the cannabinoids, you are also consuming around 0.2% THC; however, this is not enough to trigger any noticeable effects.

The Benefits Of CBD Gummies

Apart from the benefits enumerated above on working as a natural relaxant and anti-depressant, CBD gummies also have other benefits, including:

  • Pain relief
  • Enables better sleep quality
  • Improved mood

Final Thoughts: Will CBD Gummies Get You High?

When shopping for CBD gummies, it’s essential to stick with brands that you can trust and that use thorough lab testing to check the complete cannabinoid breakdown of their products. PureKana, for example, uses third-party lab testing and makes the results of these tests available to customers. Being able to access the results from lab tests means that you can see exactly how much THC is within your chosen gummies, so you can enjoy them with confidence. CBD gummies that contain less than 0.3% THC are extremely unlikely to cause you to feel high. More so, this is one way for you to ensure that it’s safe and of good quality. Otherwise, you might be taking in CBD that’s not going to give you any of your desired results. For extra peace of mind, it’s best to stick with CBD gummies made using CBD isolate, such as those sold by PureKana. CBD isolate gummies guarantee a totally THC-free experience. Feel free to ask the sales representatives about the contents and ingredients of the CBD gummy that you’re looking to purchase.

NC Governor Just Vetoed Bill To Reopen Gyms and Fitness Centers

0

The Governor of North Carolina has just vetoed House Bill 594, which would immediately “AUTHORIZE INDOOR OR OUTDOOR EXERCISE AND FITNESS FACILITIES, GYMS, HEALTH CLUBS, AND FITNESS CENTERS TO RESUME OPERATIONS” across the state of North Carolina.

After vetoing the bill, Governor Cooper released the following statement about the reason for the decision:

“Tying the hands of public health officials in times of pandemic is dangerous, especially when case counts and hospitalizations are rising. State and local officials must be able to take swift action during the COVID-19 emergency to prevent a surge of patients from overwhelming hospitals and endangering the lives of North Carolinians. The bill could restrict leaders who need to respond quickly to outbreaks and protect public health and safety.”

President Trump Announces New $34.6 Million Project In Rock Hill

0

President Trump took to twitter last night to announce a new federal project just south of Charlotte.

He announced the transfer of $34.6 million from the federal coffers to South Carolina’s Department of Transportation for the construction of a new interchange on I-77 in Rock Hill.

His tweet says, “This will facilitate access to a 234-acre development site at Exit 81. HUGE innovation and development coming to the area!”

The massive deal to move the Carolina Panthers headquarters from Uptown Charlotte to Rock Hill was finalized back in April in a 4-3 vote by the York County Commission.

The county agreed to help the team with an estimated $1 billion 2-phase infrastructure plan to build what the Panthers are calling “Football City USA” and what York County is calling “Project Avalanche”. The deal includes Rock Hill foregoing all property tax revenue for up to 30 years.

The sprawling $1 billion complex will hopefully see its first phase opening by August 2022.

It will be built on a 200-acre parcel just off I-77 between Dave Lyle Boulevard and Eden Terrace.

According to Panthers officials, it will feature an orthopedic sports medicine facility, 2 practice fields, including an indoor stadium with 10,000 seats.

The new project will also likely attract a new corporate headquarters and several residential projects.

The ‘Belk Bowl’ Is Officially Being Renamed To The ‘Duke Mayo Classic’

0

Charlotte’s annual bowl game (previously known as the Belk Bowl) now has a new title sponsor and therefore a new name – The Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

The Greenville, SC headquartered condiment company just signed a multi-year contract with the Charlotte Sports Foundation to maintain the title sponsorship of our city’s main bowl game at Panthers’ Stadium in Uptown Charlotte. This year’s game will take place on Sept. 26th, 2020 as Wake Forest takes on Notre Dame for The Duke’s Mayo Classic.

In a press release, Sauer Brands (owner of Duke Mayonnaise) CEO Martin Kelly said; “We are very eager to spread our name across college football with the Duke’s Mayo Classic and the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Sponsoring these great games is the perfect opportunity to increase our brand recognition throughout the country. But even more importantly, it is a way for us to impact the local community. The games are a proven economic boost to the region, especially the hospitality and food service industries that have been hit so hard during this pandemic. Partnering with the Charlotte Sports Foundation to ensure the future of these games gives Duke’s Mayonnaise great exposure while championing economic recovery and growth.”

Raleigh, Durham, and Boone Now Requiring Face Masks – Charlotte Might Be Next

0

The Mayor of Raleigh has just issued an emergency proclamation to require residents and visitors to wear face masks while in city limits.

The new requirements will go into effect on Friday, June 19th starting at 4pm.

The Mayor’s official proclamation reads:

“All persons who are present within the jurisdiction of the City of Raleigh are required to wear a clean face covering any time they are, or will be, in contact with other people who are not household members in public or private spaces where it is not possible to maintain social distance or where recommended social distancing practices are not being followed. These spaces include grocery stores, pharmacies, business locations, parking lots, sidewalks, and public transit. While wearing the face covering, it is essential to still maintain social distance insofar as possible since social distancing is the best defense against the spread of the COVID-19.

A face covering is a material that covers the nose and mouth. It can be secured to the head with ties or straps or simply wrapped around the lower face. It can be made of a variety of materials, such as cotton, silk, or linen. A cloth face covering may be factory-made or sewn by hand or can be improvised from household items such as scarfs, T-shirts, sweatshirts, or towels. Social distance, as referenced within this declaration, shall mean the current parameters established by the Governor by Executive Order and by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, including as such parameters may be amended in the future.

Acceptable, reusable face covering options for the general public include: bandanas, neck gaiters, homemade face coverings, scarves, or tightly woven fabric such as cotton !-shirts and some types of towels. It is not required to wear face coverings during individual exercise outdoors, or while walking or exercising with other people from the same household, as long as social distance from others is maintained.

All restaurant, personal care, grooming, tattoo, and retail employees and staff shall wear a face covering while on duty. It is recommended that all businesses require customers to wear a face covering while inside the business Face coverings are not required:

  • For people whose religious beliefs prevent them from wearing a face covering.
  • For those who cannot wear a face covering due to a medical or behavioral condition.
  • For children under 12 years old.
  • For restaurant patrons while they are dining.
  • In private, individual offices.
  • When complying with directions of law enforcement officers.
  • In settings where it is not practical or feasible to wear a face covering, including when obtaining or rendering goods or services, such as the receipt of dental services or while swimming.
  • While with members of a family or the same household.”

When the new requirement takes effect, Raleigh will be joining North Carolina’s City of Durham and Orange County currently with similar requirements.

Starting this weekend, Boone, NC will also implement a similar measure:

Earlier this week on Tuesday, Mecklenburg’s County Commissioner County Commissioner Trevor Fuller pushed for a similar requirement in Charlotte, but he would have to gain the support of the mayors of Charlotte and the 6 other towns in our county for the measure to pass.

In response to all the new requirements, a large group called “Reopen NC” started a “Burn Your Mask” challenge on social media.

CBD Oil For Anxiety: True or False?

0

In a brain imaging study, a single 400 mg dose of CBD reduced anxiety in 10 people with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) works by reducing blood flow to part of the limbic system, which is often overactive in this type of disorder. The cannabinoid increased blood flow to another region that is important for cognition and motivation (the posterior cortex). More at https://biomdplus.com/cbd-oil-for-anxiety/

Depression

According to studies conducted on mice, CBD has an antidepressant effect. They found that CBD was as fast, potent, and long-lasting as the standard antidepressant. Reference: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2823358/

It appears that, with more research, the benefits of CBD may extend to individuals with different types of anxiety including panic attacks.

Consumers Should Check the Source of the CBD Oil

Look for a brand that is using “cannabidiol-rich” hemp.

There’s a big difference between CBD that comes from industrial hemp (the kind used for protein powders, clothing, and milk) and the hemp that is specifically grown to produce high-quality CBD products. You want to look for a brand that is using “can- nabidiol-rich” hemp. Otherwise, you risk purchasing a supplement that sounds effective but doesn’t deliver results. Plus, industrial hemp often lacks essential terpenes and secondary cannabinoids. While in searches for CBD products you should dig deep not only  into  the ingredients of the product but also the brand that it represents. For instance, here https://www.drganja.com/ you can find the list of CBD products with the full description readily available.

Look for a brand that is using “cannabidiol-rich” hemp.

Some brands try to save money by using toxic solvents that are dangerous to your health — such as propane, hexane, pentane and butane to use in your crystal smoking pipe.

This is the “cheap and easy” extraction process, but it’s definitely not the kind of CBD you want. Instead, the more trustworthy brands are using organic, pharmaceutical-grade ethanol to process the CBD. The ethanol, which is a safe grain alcohol, is used to remove toxins and extra residue from the hemp. There’s a big difference between CBD that comes from industrial hemp (the kind used for protein powders, clothing, and milk) and the hemp that is specifically grown to produce high-quality CBD products.

This extraction process tends to produce the highest amount of cannabinoids and is considered to be the safest method of extracting that precious CBD.

To take it one step further, a few brands go above and beyond by using supercritical CO2 extraction. It sounds technical (and it is), but it’s basically using carbon dioxide under high pressure in an extremely cold environment to ensure the absolute purest form of CBD.

This CO2 extraction requires a lot of expensive, com- plex equipment, so most companies pass it up. But if you can find an affordable brand that invests in the technology, it is definitely worth it.

The final product contains fewer contaminants and a purer CBD oil. Win-win.

WARNING

Be aware that some brands try to save money by using toxic solvents that are dangerous to your health — such as propane, hexane, pen- tane and butane. Please read all label carefully.

CBD Oil Lab Results

The CBD industry is still fairly young, so regulation is fairly limited. Companies should provide third-party lab test results to purity and safety.

As with any new industry, brand flood the market as quickly as possible. Some brands have thrown together a website, found a low-cost manufacturer, and started selling to eager buyers.

THIRD-PARTY TESTING: Make sure the CBD you are purchasing is backed by third-party testing. There is no way of confirming what’s in that product or if it’s safe to use without a lab report / Certificate of Analysis (COA). Only purchase from companies who have invested in unbiased testing from a third-party lab.

These independent labs exist to make sure that CBD oil is what it claims to be. They test for levels of CBD, THC, and ensure the product is free from harmful chemicals and impurities. PaydayChampion is here to help you in every way that we can if you find yourself in a situation where you need financial assistance for your medical care.

CONCERNED ABOUT PESTICIDES?

THC CONTENT: In the cannabis family, hemp is naturally extremely in THC and higher in CBD oil than its sibling, mar- ijuana. The way the law is written in the 2018 farm bill is that in order to be classified as hemp and legal to sell, a

It’s important to know whether or not the product contains harmful pesticides, fertilizers, growth hormones, or herbicides

hemp plant must contain less than 0.3% THC by volume.

that could induce negative side

Which means, CBD derived from hemp is no longer considered illegal by the DEA as long as it contains less than 0.3% THC. However, CBD derived from marijuana is still not legal on the federal level, nor are CBD oil products containing more than 0.3% THC.

effects. If the lab report shows any levels of these substances, you should give the product a “fail” status right away. How- ever, once the report confirms that your CBD oil is pesticide free, you can be sure it comes from pesticide-free grown hemp.

CBD Oil and Analgesic effects

Many studies suggest that cannabinoids may be a new class of “painkillers,” helping millions of people suffering from chronic pain. We have cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies, but the CB1 type is very densely scattered along pathways responsible for brain, spine, and nerve pain. The second type, CB2, is more important for the immune system and acts on inflammation. Therefore, our internal cannabinoids and CBD can act on both of these pathways and balance pain and inflammation.

In an extensive analysis of 766 participants, cannabinoids strongly and safely reduced various types of chronic pain (pain from neuropathy, arthritis, fibromyalgia, HIV, and multiple sclerosis).

Another study with nearly 2,000 participants showed that the benefits of using cannabis-based drugs to fight pain outweigh any risks.

Moreover, the combination of CBD and THC reduced pain in several studies of patients with multiple sclerosis and chronic pain (66 and 189 participants, respectively). CBD was

The combination of CBD and THC offers promising results for postoperative and chronic pain, as well as pain related to cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and neuropathy. However, it should be noted that by using only CBD, we still see benefits in comparison to synthetic cannabinoids and even to using it with THC because it is not a psychoactive substance. Many people want to avoid THC’s potential side-effects of paranoia and drowsiness.

Scientists are trying to figure out, what does CBD feel like? CBD reduces pain in a different way than opioids do, though both substances alleviate it. The study showed that CBD oil did not affect the opioid pathways in mice. However, CBD reduced both chronic inflammation and neuropathic pain in rodents. Significantly, neither CBD nor THC appears to cause a long-term increase in tolerance (after two years), unlike opioids and most other painkillers, which require higher and higher doses to continue to work.

CBD Oil Dosage

CBD dosage may vary, but it usually ranges from 100 mg to even 3 g per day, depending on the target health problem.

For protecting the brain (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease), reducing inflammation, and addressing muscle spasms (multiple sclerosis), doses of 100 to 600 mg of CBD have been used in clinical trials. In some studies, patients took as much CBD oil as they needed to experience a reduction in pain or relief of muscle tone.

A dose of up to 800 mg per day was used to treat psychosis and schizophrenia.

A newly updated report released by Piedmont Rising today finds that while Black North Carolinians account for 21% of the state’s population, they constitute 27% of North Carolina’s confirmed cases, and are experiencing worse health outcomes from the coronavirus, including accounting for 33% of the COVID-19 death toll in the state.

Key findings include:

  • In North Carolina, where the latest Census records show that Black residents make up 21.4 percent of the population, while 27 percent of the confirmed cases of coronavirus in North Carolina are from Black residents, and 33 percent of deaths from coronavirus in North Carolina have been Black residents;
  • On average, one-in-four people living in the ten counties in North Carolina with the highest percentage of Black residents report being in poor or fair health.
  • Medicaid expansion would help reduce racial inequalities in health insurance rates in North Carolina;
  • Research shows that the health of Black Americans is directly and adversely impacted by consistent exposure to instances of racial inequities in policing and violence against Black communities by law enforcement;
  • The American Medical Association recommends mandating the “reporting of legal intervention deaths and law enforcement officer homicides to public health agencies” as a step toward understanding police brutality as an affront against the overall health of Black Americans.

“It’s unacceptable that Black North Carolinians are bearing the brunt of this pandemic,” said Piedmont Rising Executive Director Casey Wilkinson. “Recent policy decisions, especially the decision not to expand Medicaid, play a critical role in the disparate health outcomes along racial lines. Even more catastrophic would be the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which could happen through a lawsuit the U.S. Supreme Court will take up as soon as this fall. Elected leaders should make clear that they oppose this lawsuit that would only exacerbate the inequities of our health care system and put desperately needed care out of reach for too many.”

It All Started in the Attic – Charlotte Sock Manufacturer Celebrates 10 Years

Boardroom Socks, a Charlotte-based manufacturer of premium men’s socks, is celebrating its 10th year in business. The family business was started in 2010 by husband and wife duo Mike and Carol James. After witnessing the closure of mills across the state, the couple sought to create a locally-made product line that represented North Carolina’s rich sock-making traditions.

In its early years, orders were packed and shipped from the James’ attic, with each pair of socks passing through Carol’s hands. While orders are no longer shipped from the James family’s home, the business has remained true to its roots: Mike and Carol’s son Nathan has joined the company and the socks continue to be produced in North Carolina.

Of the company’s tenth anniversary, Boardroom Socks President Nathan James said, “Achieving this milestone means a great deal to our family and our team. When my parents first started Boardroom Socks out of our attic, I thought they were a little crazy. At one point, we had 15,000 pairs of socks in our house! While we are still a small business, we are proud to be able to touch dozens of local jobs in our area and are excited for what the next decade has in store.”

Now in its tenth year, the company is planning to add a new line of casual socks while continuing to release additional colors and patterns in its dress sock offerings.
