Governor McCrory Just Announced From Charlotte That North Carolina Will Not Accept Syrian Refugees

0

north carolina refugeesAt this week’s press conference in Charlotte, Governor McCrory announced that the state will no longer be accepting Syrian refugees. He stated that the sparse knowledge and poor background checks the federal government provides are not sufficient, given ISIS’s current threat level.

North Carolina now joins 27 other states around America that have refused the federal government’s demands to accept the refugees. Most governors, including McCrory, have stated that they would not willingly accept refugees until the federal government increases background checks to make sure terrorists are not brought into their states.

McCrory said that federal officials are not telling the states any significant information about who refugees are, how they were screened, and what their backgrounds include. So far there have been at least 59 Syrian refugees have come to various parts of North Carolina since 2014.

“I empathize with these people who are dealing with unimaginable atrocities from ISIS. I care for these people. But what worries me is that some of these people could actually be ISIS coming into our country,” the governor commented during the press conference.

Do you think Charlotte should deny the federal government’s requests?

These Hardcore Panthers Fans Are Planning On Installing These Billboards Around Greenbay, WI

0

panthers fan rip down signThis past Sunday, Cam Newton defended the Carolina reputation by tearing down a Green Bay Packers sign that said “North Carolina Cheesehead”. The sign’s owner then filed a report with the police demanding his $500 back and an apology from Cam Newton. The Panthers decided to buy the owner a new sign, but no apology was made by Cam.

A few Panthers fans have now taken it upon themselves to defend the Panther’s honor by raising funds to install billboards throughout the Greenbay region.

The billboards will say “Wisconsin Black N’ Blue Cheese” with a Panthers logo eating a block of cheese.

If they are able to meet their goal by November 13th, they will install 3 digital billboards around the Green Bay, WI region.

Two of the signs will be right next to Lambeau Field for this coming Sunday’s home game against the Detroit Lions.

Southpark Mall Surrenders and Brings Back The Christmas Tree

0

For the past few days, the Southpark mall has had Santa sitting under a “Glacier Santa Experience,” it quickly became a joke on social media and an outrage to people all over Charlotte;

southpark mall christmas treePeople were so against the mall’s attempt at changing the traditional Christmas display that a Change.org petition was created to return the tree.

After over 20,000 signatures were submitted, the mall finally listened.

The mall recently tweeted; “We’re adding key elements to the Santa set this week & listening to our customer feedback, we will now include a traditional Christmas tree.”

Sorry to anyone who liked the futuristic melting glacier lightshow thingy – you’re just gonna have to settle with a giant decorated Christmas tree for Christmas this year.

Please share if you love Christmas;

Petition To CEO of South Park Mall Demanding They #BringBackTheTree is Going Viral

0

#BringBackTheTree copyThe SouthPark Mall is now attempting to redefine Santa with their new “Glacier Santa Experience.”

Santa’s seat at the mall is now underneath a giant glacier display, which includes a full light and sound show. There’s no Christmas tree (or any evergreen tree) anywhere in sight.

The mall is one of seven Simon-owned malls across America that will be using this new Santa glacier experience this year.

“The reinvented and modernized experience will bring the Charlotte community together in a way that hasn’t been done before,” the mall said in a statement.

But many, if not all people, are strongly against the mall’s attempt at changing Christmas. So much so that a Change.org petition was created and has already received over 12,000 signatures from the city of Charlotte alone.

People have also taken to twitter to express their discuss and outrage;

This guy even wrote a song about #GlacierGate, wishing everyone a “Holly Jolly Glacier”;

If you want the Southpark Mall to #BringBackTheTree, you can sign the petition on Change.org by clicking here.

Shutterfly About To Hire Over 1,800 New Workers in Fort Mill

0

shutterfly charlotte hiringIf you know anyone looking for a new job this holiday season, Shutterfly might be the place to go. The Fort Mill location of the global photo company is about to hire over 1,800 people in a wide variety of positions, including mnagement, printing, and customer service during its busiest time of the year.

Shutterfly produces millions of photobooks, holiday cards, and novelty items at it’s Fort Mill site – the majority of those orders occure between Halloween and early December.

The Fort Mill location is only one of four production hubs in the US, with others being located in Minnesota, Arizona and California. Due to the ever expanding transportation facilities in the Charlotte region, the company has continued to ramp up the percentage of production it does here.

Back in 2013, the company tripled its footprint in the Charlotte region when it closed its 100,000-square-foot southwest Charlotte facility and built a brand new, 300,000-square-foot facility in Fort Mill that same year.

If you would like to apply for the new seasonal positions at Shutterfly, you can apply on their website here.

To browse job openings at all companies throughout the Charlotte region, check out the full job board here.

0

elevation charlotte pastor stevenPastor Appreciation Month is a special time that congregations set aside each year to honor their pastors and pastoral families for the hard work, sacrificial dedication and multiple blessings provided by these special people.

Elevation Church, the Charlotte based organization that has exploded in growth over the past few years, now with 10 campuses around the greater Charlotte region, and satellite campuses as far away as Canada went all out this year to show their appreciation for their pastor;

Elevation church noted under the video’s description, “It’s Pastor Appreciation Month, and we think we have one of the best! So to show how much we love and appreciate Pastor Steven and his wife, Holly, our staff made this little music video & thought we’d share it with you.”

The FBI is now investigating a South Carolina officer after a video was posted on Facebook that shows him throwing a female high school student out of her chair and across the room in the middle of a class;

The confrontation, captured on cellphone video at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, S.C., has drawn intense criticism on social media, from the school district’s Black Parents Association, and from the American Civil Liberties Union of South Carolina.

officer body slamms female high school student“There is no justification whatsoever for treating a child like this,” the ACLU said in a statement.

Officer Ben Fields, who is white, was also recently named as a defendant in a 2013 federal lawsuit that claims he “unfairly and recklessly targets African-American students with allegations of gang membership and criminal gang activity.”

These types of incidents are continuing to fuel many #BlackLivesMatter protests and demonstrations throughout America.
