A major manufacturer from Jonson City, Tennessee just announced plans to move their entire headquarters to the Queen City, including a new $10 million facility and 200 new jobs with a starting salary of $139,900 per year.

NN, Inc. is an industrial manufacturer of high-precision metal and plastic components and assemblies for a variety of markets around the world. The company currently has 33 manufacturing plants in North America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, South America and China.

According to their official press release, they made the decision to move their headquarters to Charlotte in order to improve their access to customers and to work closer to more advanced infrastructure and enhanced logistics.

The N.C. Economic Investment Committee voted to give the company $2.8 million in incentives, with another $288,000 in incentives coming locally from the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.

The company will be hiring 175 of the 200 positions here in Charlotte and they will be moving the other 25 from their current headquarters in Johnson City, TN.

Stanley Black & Decker just announced plans to build one of their largest manufacturing plants in Fort Mill.

Their new 345,000-square-foot $31 million facility will primarily manufacture DEWALT power tools for retail locations around the world. It will be located in the Lakemont Business Park in Fort Mill, S.C.

“On behalf of York County, we congratulate Stanley Black & Decker on the announcement of this new U.S.-based manufacturing operation,” commented York County Council Chairman Britt Blackwell. “We are thrilled to have this global manufacturer expand their footprint here in York County, and we look forward to the 500 jobs it will bring to our area in the years to come.”

With a manufacturing presence in the U.S. dating back to 1843, this new Fort Mill facility will allow Stanley Black & Decker to advance its “Make Where We Sell” strategy.

“We are proud to continuously make more product in the U.S.A., and even prouder to be the world’s largest and America’s largest tool company,” commented Black & Decker’s president Jeff Ansell.

There have been rumors recently that the massive ‘Brooklyn Village’ redevelopment in Uptown Charlotte has stalled, but according to statements this week by county commissioners, the historic project is on track and is continuing to move forward.

The $683 million plan calls for BK Partners to re-develop the former African-American neighborhood of Brooklyn Village in Uptown Charlotte’s Second Ward.

Second Ward’s historically African-American Brooklyn Village was demolished in the 1960s in a wave of “urban renewal,” and is now largely dominated by the city’s government quarter, sterile municipal buildings, empty plazas, and the largely unused Marshall Park.

2 years ago, the city chose BK Partners to redevelop the site when they agreed to pay $33.7 million for the land, and investing a total of $683 million for the entire development, to include;

1,243 homes — 85% apartments (w/ 107 affordable apartments) – 15% condos, totaling 1,187,000 square feet (51%)

680,700 square feet of office (29%) – including “iconic” 22-story office tower

252,100 square feet of retail (11%)

185,500 square feet of hotels (8%)

3,700 square feet of cultural (0.16%)

1.9 acres of park and open space

2,312 parking spaces
