5 Tips to Take Care of Your Mental Health at Exam Time

0

The beginning of exam time often causes stress to a lot of students and sometimes even severe anxiety for some that are extra tense about this stressful time. Effects of exam fever can be even more critical to others than the average student and the stress incurred can affect the grades of those students.

Because of that, you need to take care of your mental health during this time to get optimum results. How can you achieve this? Here are five tips to take care of your mental health during exam time.

Draft a study plan

Studying blindly without purpose or predetermined goals and objectives can make easily throw you off the rails and overburden your brain. On the other hand, organizing the time you have will help you optimize study time and thus derive more benefit from it. For students who can’t easily fit studying to their limited time, setting up a schedule or study plan can help them very much.

To avoid spinning out from exam fever, take out a pen and a paper and then draft a plan. Ensure that you have ample time to study, do homework and still have a social life. Being proactive will make you feel like you have more control over the situation and will, therefore, lower stress levels.

The most important part of drafting a schedule is committing to the schedule you have drafted. To get more time, divide the schoolwork related tasks by asking an expert research paper writer to do some of your work. The trained writing professional can help those students who ask ‘do my assignment’ online. Also, those who finally have finished their college degree still have to face a great deal of stress on graduate entrance exams like GRE, if they wish to pursue graduate studies. Luckily, preparation books for taking the GRE and other types of exams were already made available online to better help in their study plan success.

Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness, which is the practice of living in the moment, can help reduce stress and improve the overall mental wellbeing of students. Using mindfulness, students can easily gain control over their thought process that enables heightened concentration during study time.

Scientific research has proved that sparing only 10 minutes of the day and investing it towards mindful meditation can improve concentration and boost mental performance. Student mental health is important and you need to try out mindfulness to conquer these exam times.

Those are the best recipes of success during exam time and will help students not go into a destructive academic rabbit hole. Simply that means, students will get more out of their study time which will benefit the grades of those students. If you are unfamiliar with this psychological process, you can download some free or paid apps that will guide you through it.

Take quality breaks

Despite all efforts of boosting memory, the human brain can only focus for so long. That could be a bummer for you if you’d like to absorb the entire curriculum in one night. When drafting the study plan, ensure to include time to rest the brain by taking a walk or other recreational method. The rule of thumb of doing so is taking a 20-minute break after an hour of academic rigor.

Whatever method you use to rest, avoid looking into a screen which means avoiding social media, TV and any other digital gadget. Some have found meditating during their breaks effective or alternatively, practicing yoga. Breathing some fresh air by going outdoors is the most effective and will rejuvenate you.

Eat right

Focusing on getting a healthy diet during exams is very important because the brain needs more nutrients to function optimally. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and nutritious foods with antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins. Don’t shy away from leafy vegetables and 100% fruit juice and increase the intake of grains to get more vitamin B. The fastest way to get your daily nutrients fulfilled is to take a supplement, check it out Organifi Green Juice here!

Fish is also the best food to increase your cognitive function and memory. Include yogurts and eggs to the healthy diet you have drafted to relieve stress. Avoid coffee intake at all costs because the caffeine will make it hard for the body to deal with all the stress. Go for the green tea to boost focus in this stressful period and to make it be calmer.

Rest enough

A lot of students have given way to the trap of spending long nights studying with the intention of getting higher grades. It is really tempting to stay up all night and cram everything you are going to write on an upcoming exam but this is damaging. Not getting enough sleep can cause even more stress and instead of getting much-needed rebuilding and rest can cause anxiety.

To avoid being a victim of this, get enough sleep and set a predetermined bedtime. Set your bedtime with the intention of getting 8-9 sleeping hours a night. If you are feeling tired during the day, don’t be afraid to rest and rejuvenate your body and mind.

The bottom line

These mental health tips that improve your mental function oppose some norms people have grown to love. Because of that, quitting some of those tasks can be very hard but will benefit you very much. The whole idea is to be calm and stress-free during exam times to get better grades. Above doing all the other things outlined here, get enough rest to have an optimally functioning brain. If you find yourself still struggling after implementing the above mentioned tips and it is affecting your day to day life, it’s worth looking into online therapy as an option to help you get through this part of your life. You’ll feel better for it and should be proud of yourself for recognizing the need to reach out.

$928 Million Paper Supplier Announced Plans To Move Headquarters From PA To Charlotte

0

One of America’s leading paper suppliers has just announced plans to move their entire headquarters from Pennsylvania to Charlotte later this year.

Glatfelter, a paper manufacturer and distributor, said that they made the decision after they sold their specialty paper division and reduced their Pennsylvania workforce by 90%.

In a press release, Dante C. Parrini, the company’s Chairman and CEO, said; “Our decision to move Glatfelter’s headquarters to a larger metropolitan area is another important step in our ongoing transformation. Charlotte provides enhanced access to a larger pool of critical resources and talent for future growth, and the Carolinas are a leading hub for the broader nonwovens industry. Additionally, being near a premier airport like Charlotte Douglas International allows for easier and more efficient business travel.”

The company started in York County, PA in July of 1864 after Philip Henry Glatfelter purchased a small stone paper mill.

Last year, the company’s 2,600 employees generated over $928 million, according to their most recent financial statement.

Massive Group of Great White Sharks Swarming Around North Carolina Coast

0

A massive cluster of great white sharks are now swarming around the Carolina coast, causing alarm for some, and confusion for others.

This past weekend, the tracking organization OCEARCH noted the anomaly on their Facebook page, asking their followers;

“What do you think could be causing this big gap in where white sharks are pinging right now…”

Since they made the post, even more great white sharks have joined the swarm, adding even more mystery to the happening.

Here is the current tracker radar as of 2/12 at 8am;

The biggest of the group, Luna, at 15 feet and 2,137 pounds, is now swimming dangerously close to North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Last year, Luna was captured on video just off the coast of Charleston by a group of amateur fishermen (footage of Luna begins at 2:45);

Marine biologists have yet to offer any definitive reason for the unusual swarm. Some think that our recent warm spell could have the sharks coming up from the gulf of Mexico and Florida to follow smaller fish schools, however, this doesn’t account for the uniquely tight grouping of the sharks.

If you plan on swimming near any North or South Carolina beaches, experts recommend taking extra precautions, including removing all shiny jewelry, wearing magnetic shark repellents, and avoiding colorful swimsuits.

Your risk will also increase if you swim at dusk or in the early hours of the night.

Tomorrow SouthPark Mall Will Celebrate Their 50 Year Anniversary

0

On February 12, the SouthPark Mall will celebrate 50 years of shopping, dining and entertainment.

Starting this week, a visual timeline of SouthPark’s history will be on display to greet guests, providing them the opportunity to walk back in time through the center’s rich past. SouthPark will also randomly surprise and delight guests in celebration of its anniversary on February 12.

To commemorate the milestone in the community, SouthPark is partnering with local charities and organizations throughout the year, including Bright Blessings, a non-profit organization that has provided more than 17,000 homeless and impoverished children with birthday celebrations they’ll never forget. The center donated toys to their Party Closet and will throw a surprise celebration in March for a child in need. SouthPark’s 15-year partnership with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Animal Care & Control Division will continue during 2020 with monthly adoptions through October. A goal of 150 animal adoptions is set for this milestone year.

“It’s inspiring to celebrate SouthPark’s history and legendary evolution over the past 50 years, as we look toward its promising future,” said SouthPark General Manager Randy Thomas. “The center has created a thriving community within Charlotte, and we are proud to hold a special place in the hearts of our guests who have been shopping and sharing memories with us for decades.”

After purchasing the Morrocroft Family Farm in what was once the outskirts of Charlotte, the Belk and Ivey families, owners of two of the three original department stores, developed SouthPark and opened its doors in 1970. The name “SouthPark” was inspired by the mall’s location – just five miles south of Uptown Charlotte. With the opening of the mall, the two families not only created a premier shopping center, but also a brand-new Charlotte neighborhood.

SouthPark has continued to evolve and enhance its offerings based on the needs of shoppers over the past five decades. Two expansions have accommodated the ever-growing roster of retailers at the center, including the addition of a luxury wing anchored by Nordstrom in 2004. SouthPark is also home to many brands that can’t be found elsewhere in the Charlotte or North Carolina markets, including Louis Vuitton, Burberry, David Yurman, Tory Burch and Neiman Marcus. Digitally native retailers like Peloton, Warby Parker, UNTUCKit and Fabletics, among others, have also launched new locations at SouthPark as they expand to physical storefronts to capitalize on guests seeking the experiential aspects only offered by brick-and-mortar shopping.

The Village at SouthPark opened in 2007, featuring 150 luxury apartments above 80,000 square feet of ground floor retail space.  Simon also developed Symphony Park, a seven-acre outdoor theatre and greenspace. The all-encompassing destination offers a variety of activities including charitable walks, fundraisers and events, and community members enjoy events such as Charlotte Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Pops Concert Series, Great Grapes Wine Festival and The Lantern Festival.

Movement Mortgage Announces $22 Million Investment Into Charlotte Charter Schools

0

Charlotte-based Movement Mortgage (one of the fastest growing mortgage banks in America) has announced plans to invest $22 million into charter schools around the Charlotte region – the largest nonprofit donation in the company’s history.

The announcement was made by former Carolina Panther and Movement CEO Casey Crawford at a recent pep rally with their charter school students:

According to their press release, the $22 million will go toward:

  • Expansion of Movement School Freedom Drive to include a middle school, preschool, community gymnasium and other enhancements.
  • Construction and development of Movement School Eastland, a new elementary school campus set to open in fall 2020.
  • Application and site selection process for two additional Movement School campuses in the Charlotte metro.

“From day one, this has been the vision,” says Movement Mortgage co-founder and CEO Casey Crawford. “Movement is built on the principle that our business success shouldn’t end with our profit, but instead, that our profit should build something of generational significance in our communities. By investing in education, we are telling our children that they are all full of God-given potential, they are all worthy, they are all important and they all deserve a world-class school.”

Movement School operates on a system that creates a sustainable, scalable model for serving economically underserved communities. The school is supported by the nonprofit Movement Foundation, which owns the real estate and pays for renovations and infrastructure. The school then leases the facilities from the foundation at a reduced cost and uses its state, per-pupil funding to cover operating costs.
