Is the Cloud Safe for personal information?

0

Cloud computing offers many opportunities for companies and governments. The entire infrastructure can be hosted centrally on the cloud provider’s platform. At the same time, individual applications will be available around the world around the clock. Working in the cloud offers clear benefits when teams and project teams from different offices collaborate. All employees gain access to IT services such as software, storage space or computing power over data networks. It depends on their needs.

Cloud security is the act of protecting all services and data in the cloud from attacks on their availability, integrity, confidentiality, and data leaks. While cloud service providers must ensure the security of the cloud infrastructure, the shared responsibility model also requires customers to self-protect their workloads, applications, and data in the cloud.

Cloud Security

At first glance, it might seem that the client company has no control over the security of the cloud. The entire cloud – all servers, routers and switches – is the property of the supplier. However, there are many ways you can protect your business and ensure that your responsibilities are fulfilled in a shared responsibility model. While taking full advantage of the cloud.

Before discussing securing the cloud architecture, it is worth taking a look at the structure of the cloud with cloud application consulting. Companies now have a variety of cloud options available: three cloud service models and four deployment models.

Cloud service models:

  • Infrastructure as a service (IaaS). It allows companies to create their own virtual data center;
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS). It provides a variety of options for obtaining, deploying, or building software;
  • Software as a service (SaaS). The client can use the program without installing it on his computer or server. Examples of SaaS include Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) and Gmail. To work with them, the client only needs a device with online access.

Various vendors may name their products differently from what NIST defines them in order to clarify what exactly they provide. For example, DRaaS – Disaster Recovery as a Service, or “disaster recovery as a service”. Other similar terms are built on the same principle, and you can even come across the concept of XaaS – “everything as a service”. It can be difficult for product marketing to define its cloud service model. But in any case, clearly defining supplier responsibilities remains more important. Cloud service providers are also extending their contracts with additional security services such as HSMaaS (Hardware Security as a Service) or DRMaaS (Technical Copyright as a Service).

Four deployment models:

  • Public cloud. Cloud services can be purchased by anyone. Notable examples at the moment are Amazon Web Service (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP);
  • Private cloud. Created for a specific company, with the underlying hardware used only by the client company. A private cloud can be created in the public cloud or in the client company’s own data center. Also, a private cloud can be provided by a Managed Service Provider (MSP);
  • Public cloud. In this case, a group of organizations share services or data in the cloud. An example of this model is clouds used by several government agencies;
  • Hybrid cloud. A combination of at least two of the above cloud models: public and private, private and public, or public and public. All three models can be used at once.

Cloud architecture

Cloud architecture is the organization of the components and elements of the cloud environment in a logical and efficient structure. And here you can get more info. This structure should allow the components to work together to achieve a goal. The architecture, ideally, guarantees the maximum level of productivity and has a minimum of weak points. The basic components for building a cloud include networks, routers, switches, servers, firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems. Also, parts of the cloud are such elements within the servers as the hypervisor, virtual machines and, of course, applications. Building, managing, and delivering cloud services involves a vendor, architect, and broker.

Duke Energy Reaches Deal To Transform Roof-Top Solar Policy in Our State

0

Duke Energy has filed an agreement with the North Carolina Utilities Commission (NCUC) that will align solar adopter compensation to utility system benefits and create long-term stability for the residential solar industry in North Carolina. See filing.

The net metering agreement was crafted by Duke Energy and the N.C. Sustainable Energy Association; the Southern Environmental Law Center on behalf of Vote Solar and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy; Sunrun Inc. and the Solar Energy Industries Association. It must be approved by the NCUC.

“Duke Energy is committed to finding collaborative paths forward to help with the clean-energy transition and carbon-reduction goals in the Carolinas.”  said Stephen De May, Duke Energy’s North Carolina president. “This deal ensures fair and reasonable treatment for all customers whether they choose to install solar or not.”

Duke Energy has encouraged private solar ownership over the past three years with its $62 million solar rebate program, which is expected to continue into 2023. Currently, 24,000 North Carolina customers have private solar systems compared to 6,000 at the beginning of 2018.

“The agreement modernizes rooftop solar economics and unlocks benefits for all customers,” said Lon Huber, Duke Energy’s vice president of strategic solutions. “Net metering has been a contentious issue around the nation, but our stakeholder partners worked together to craft a fair solution that brings financial sustainability to rooftop solar in North Carolina.”

The agreement follows a similar net metering agreement in South Carolina from September 2020.

The filing:

  • Allows for new net metering tariffs to go into effect for customers submitting applications on or after Jan. 1, 2023.
  • Will create innovative pricing and incentives for residential solar customers.
  • Features rate design mechanisms to properly collect costs of the grid infrastructure needed to serve solar customers.
  • Will include cutting-edge retail rates that vary based on the time of day and when the utility is experiencing peak demand.

Why should you choose aluminum base for your custom license plate?

0

Aluminum license plate is our recommendation for making custom license plates.

There are several reasons why you should choose aluminum license plate for your custom license plate project…

  • Aluminium design license plate frames are more flexible, durable and rust resistant.
  • Using soft aluminium license plate frames make it easier to remove the license plate cover without damaging the frame.
  • Customized logo/words can be directly printed on the license plates with no unsightly seams or rivets that might scratch your car’s paintwork or body panels.

Those three points are also important because you want to have a good looking license plate that will last longer but at the same giving you better flexibility in changing designs later on.

Aluminium license plate frames are more lightweight, thus saves gas for the environment.

You have noticed that license plates are actually sold at a cheap price these days, so it’s really not necessary to buy them from an automotive shop where you end up paying double or triple more than what they are worth. Why waste your money if you can get the same quality license plate with only 1/3 of its value? Yes, I think that is quite enough reason to invest some extra cash into this license plate project.

Considering all those important points above, definitely aluminium license plate frames will make more sense for custom license plates…

  • Customized designs can be changed easily if needed later on without having to fear broken license plate frames.
  • Aluminium license plates are lightweight, flexible and easy to install when compared to other license plate materials.

Aluminum license plates are much better looking in my personal opinion… it looks more solid & high class! You can make custom license plates for your cars with different designs every year or whenever you feel like changing… I believe that’s very cool, isn’t it?

You might be asking yourself why everyone uses aluminium license plate frames except you… well; there is no reason for that because we at JDM-CAR-PARTS offer best quality base license attachments at the lowest prices around the world. We ship directly from our Asian factory to your doorstep cut out expensive middlemen – which means that you get the lowest prices and best quality license plate frames.

We have license plates with all designs & colors available just for you, so come and take a look at what we can offer to you:

  • Standard license plates with Japanese letters
  • European license plates with standard license plate design
  • Custom license plate designs for you to choose from.

We also custom make license plates for you, so please contact us if you have request… we will do our best to give you the license plate frame that fits your requirement. All of our license plates are made from high quality polished aluminum, which makes them more durable and looks better than painted or chromed license plate frames. We add a black color strip in the front & back of license plates to cover edges, while license plate screws include a very special coating that helps prevent corrosion when combined with other parts on your car. This is done to protect license plates from rust & corrosion… Many license plate companies have license plate screws made of cheap zinc alloy with chrome coating, which allows license plates to corrode.

FAQs:

What license plates should I use for front and back?

It depends on the country of your residence… some license plates allow 2 license plates on the front & 1 license plate at the back while others require 3 license plates on the front & 2 license plates at the back. We recommend that you check with your local DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) office what license plate combinations are allowed in your country before purchasing any license plate designs from us.

How to install license plates properly without having it wobbling around?

Having a wobbly license plate can be very dangerous because it will give problems when braking or going over a bump… a good rule is to install license plate frames correctly according to standard specifications. You can take a look at license plate installation manual from your local DMV office or license plate manufacturing company for more information regarding license plates mounting instructions.

Conclusion:

Aluminum license plate frames are much better looking in my personal opinion… it looks more solid & high class! You can make custom license plates for your cars with different designs every year or whenever you feel like changing… I believe that’s very cool, isn’t it?

What is Cryosurgery?

0

The use of cryogenic technology and its many applications is rapidly advancing and leading to tremendous innovation.

One of those areas of innovation is in medicine with the growing use of something called cryosurgery.

The following are things to know about the medical uses of cryosurgery right now and how this technology is affecting the medical world.

What is Cryosurgery?

Cryosurgery is a treatment using extreme cold. The cold is produced by liquid nitrogen, or it can also be made by argon gas. It destroys cancer cells and abnormal tissue.

Cryosurgery is classified as a local treatment. In medicine, local treatment is directed at just a particular part of your body. Cryosurgery is mainly used to treat skin tumors and sometimes tumors inside the body. You may also hear it called cryotherapy or cryoablation.

When liquid nitrogen has a temperature between -346 degrees and -320 degrees, it freezes anything it contacts instantly. With human tissue, that means it can kill cancer cells or precancerous lesions.

The technique is similar to what happens when a doctor freezes off a wart with a liquid nitrogen spray.

While cryosurgery is most often for skin lesions that are cancerous or precancerous, it might be used on organs like the liver if traditional surgery could be too risky or difficult.

Cryosurgery is almost the first course of action in many cases for early prostate cancer if it’s contained within the prostate. It may also be used if cancer returns following the use of other forms of surgery.

How is Cryosurgery Done?

A doctor can put liquid nitrogen on your skin with a spray or cotton swap. If there’s an internal area being treated, the surgeon will use a scope. A scope is a flexible tube that can fit into openings of your body. The doctor will feed the liquid nitrogen to the area being treated. The cells freeze and die, and then your body will gradually absorb them.

During internal cryosurgeries, doctors use imaging equipment such as an ultrasound to see where they’re working.

Following most types of cryosurgery, you can go home that same day. If the surgery was on an organ, you might have to stay in the hospital overnight or for a couple of days.

How Does It Work?

We’ve touched generally on how cryosurgery works, but below, we go more into the details:

  • Cryotherapy destroys diseased tissue in extremely cold temperatures.
  • Whether healthy or diseased, living tissue can’t withstand very cold temperatures.
  • Cells can die from ice formation in the fluid outside of the cells, leading to what’s known as cellular dehydration.
  • Cells can also die from ice formation within the cell. At temperatures that are -40 degrees and lower, ice crystals form within cells, then destroy them.
  • Sometimes the cell death occurs because ice expands inside the cell and causes it to burst, or it might shrink because water exits it.
  • Another way cells can die via this method is through a loss of blood supply. Cells die when their blood supply is choked off because ice forms within the tumor’s blood vessels, causing clotting.
  • Since cryotherapy includes several steps leading to cell death, a tumor may be repeatedly frozen and then thawed.
  • After the cells die, the immune system’s white blood cells will clear out the dead tissue.

Cryosurgery can be used with other cancer therapies, including hormone therapy, immunotherapy, radiation, and chemotherapy. Sometimes this surgery will be used after traditional surgery to reduce the risk of a tumor coming back.

The Benefits of Cryosurgery

Some of the benefits of this particular type of surgery include:

  • If you’re receiving this treatment for tumors that are inside your body, usually only a small cut or puncture is needed. Then, the probe can be inserted, reducing pain, bleeding, and other problems linked to conventional surgery.
  • Usually, this type of surgery can be done without local anesthesia and may not require a hospital stay.
  • Since it’s considered a localized treatment, a doctor can treat a precise area, reducing damage to nearby healthy tissue.
  • The surgery can be repeated safely and combined with other treatments.
  • This type of surgery may be used when people can’t have surgery because of age or other health problems or when tumors couldn’t otherwise be removed with surgery.
  • It may be an option when someone’s cancer doesn’t respond to standard treatment.

The big downside of this surgery is that in some cases, a doctor might not know how well it will end up controlling cancer or how it can improve survival rates over the long term. It may not always be covered by insurance, and it can only be used for tumors that a doctor can see with an imaging test.

Currently, researchers are looking at this type of surgery as a treatment for oral cancer and precancerous oral conditions, colon cancer, and breast, pancreatic and kidney cancers.

What Are the Side Effects?

Cryotherapy may cause side effects, but they tend to be less severe than other local types of treatment like traditional surgery or radiation. Side effects depend on the part of the body that’s treated. For example, if cryosurgery is used to treat cervical cells, side effects may include pain, cramping, or bleeding.

If the surgery is used for a skin tumor, it could cause scarring and swelling. Sometimes it can cause nerve damage, leading to a loss of feeling.

If cryosurgery is used to treat liver tumors, it could damage major blood vessels or bile ducts.

When used for prostate cancer, it could block urine flow or cause impotence or incontinence and rectum damage. People who also had radiation therapy to the prostate are more likely to experience cryosurgery side effects.

While it’s still being studied, cryosurgery has a lot of promising benefits for the treatment of cancer and precancerous conditions.

For simple cryosurgeries, they may be done in a doctor’s office. A few hospitals and cancer centers in the U.S. have skilled doctors and high-tech machinery required for more complex cryo procedures.

3 Reasons Why Your Business Needs Custom Corporate Pins

0

Corporate pins are probably one of the most affordable -and convenient- types of branded merchandise you can find. Any respectable business comes out with at least one different type of corporate pin a year – why? And why should you?

These are questions we’ll answer in this article. You’ll find out the 3 top reasons why these businesses do it, and why you need to do it, too.

Benefits of Using Custom Corporate Pins

#1: Instant Recognizability

If you want people to be able to immediately recognize your logo, your business’ colors, or even its slogan, all you need are a bunch of corporate pins. Pins create a sort of domino effect where you give them out to employees and already existing customers (people you don’t really need to promote your business to in the first place) and by the simple act of them wearing it, you are reaching whoever else they interact with in their daily lives.

Pins get put on clothing and stay there forever. They get sold, lost, and end up in the hands of other people. This is an almost poetic way of making yourself visible to more people. People will see your logo, and immediately recognize it when they encounter it in real life. And that’s invaluable.

#2: To boost morale

Polls repeatedly show that businesses that hand out branded merchandise to its employees enjoy higher morale and increased productivity in the workplace. This is probably particularly true with corporate pins, which can be customized to mark milestones. Employee of the month pins are wildly popular.

In the same manner, using pins to mark special occasions for your business, such as anniversaries and other similar hallmarks, are a sure way to let your employees know you care about them and are deeply invested in your business.

#3: To promote your business

All branded merchandise is a powerful promotion tool. Custom corporate pins, aside from boosting morale and aiding in achieving instant recognizability, are a great way to promote your business.

Pins are affordable, small items that are easily transportable. This makes them the ideal branded merch item for you to give out at all sorts of events.

This simple strategy of giving out branded merch at local events to promote your business is a very old one. And people keep doing it for one very simple reason: it works.

Corporate pins are easy to use, people can simply pin it on their clothes as soon as they get them – it’s not like T-shirts or other types of clothing. People don’t think twice about pins: they take them. That’s powerful.

Conclusion

Custom corporate pins: a very old strategy that has served countless businesses in promoting themselves, boosting morale, and most importantly in being instantly recognized by their logo, colors, and so on. The same way that anyone in the world can recognize the McDonald’s logo immediately, that should be one of your primary goals. And custom corporate pins are just the way to do that.

NCDHHS Expanding Water Program To Pay More Water Bills Across Our State

0

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) today announced an expansion to their Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) to now include all low-income households needing assistance in paying their water bill, regardless of whether is has been shut off or not.

The program was launched last month with $38 million in federal funds that was given to our state to help pay water bills for North Carolina households that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program was initially set up to only help households who had had their service disconnected, but after a lower than anticipated application rate, they are now expanding it to include all low-income households.

“Due to the pandemic and its impact on our economy, many households are struggling to maintain their water service,” said NCDHHS Deputy Secretary Tara Myers in a press release. “LIHWAP will continue to help families in North Carolina keep their water running, a basic human need that’s critical for good sanitation and better health.”

To be eligible for the newly expanded water assistance program, a North Carolina household must include at least 1 US citizen or eligible non-citizen and make no more than 150% of the federal poverty level.

The federal poverty level is dependent on how many members each household contains:

Persons in family/household Poverty level
For families/households with more than 8 persons, add $4,540 for each additional person.
1 $12,880
2 $17,420
3 $21,960
4 $26,500
5 $31,040
6 $35,580
7 $40,120
8 $44,660

Individuals and families can apply now online at epass.nc.gov.

North Carolina households can apply through Sept. 30, 2023, or until all the funds are exhausted.

NC Treasurer’s ‘Unclaimed’ Account Surpassed $919 Million – You Might Have Money Waiting

0

There is currently about $919 million in unclaimed cash that is rightfully owed to North Carolina residents.

According to the NC Treasurer’s website, most of the money comes from uncollected wages, insurance reimbursements or payouts, escrowed deposits (rent, utilities, etc), and stocks. Funds will usually become unclaimed when a company loses track of the consumer from an incorrect address or other missing info. “By law, these funds are escheated, or turned over, to the Department of State Treasurer for safekeeping,” the site notes.

The site has an easy to use search feature that allows people to search by last name, full name, or business name.

I entered my name and to my surprise, I actually had some unclaimed money myself…

It seems the title insurance company from my previous home had the wrong forwarding address and never sent me my premium refund after I sold my house.

To claim the funds, I simply clicked the “Add” button, then filled out the next 2 pages of information with my social, current name, address, phone number, and email;

The final step required me to enter my full name as an electronic signature;

and that was it!

A few minutes later, I received the following Email;

Now, thanks to writing this article, I now should be getting a check in the mail for about $160 that I no idea was waiting for me.

If you’d like to search the database to see if you have any money waiting for you, go to NCCash.com

Metaverses and cryptocurrencies

0

The topic of Metaverses continues to evolve. New projects are appearing, and old ones are becoming even more in demand. Many investors are choosing this direction to raise capital. You can buy tokens on the website Alligat0r.com.

What is the relationship between metaverses and blockchain?

In today’s thinking, a Metaverse refers to an online world where users can interact with each other. It’s like a social network, but with a more immersive experience. However, this is not all there is to it. The metaworld is now inextricably linked to the blockchain. This brings out the potential of both concepts. They complement each other perfectly.

The main technologies that help make Metaverses better are:

  • Cryptocurrencies The blockchain is the basis of most cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). Cryptocurrency assets serve the same purpose in metaclasses as fiat money does in real life.
  • Gaming. Crypto-gaming has been evolving for quite some time, from online casinos with payment and withdrawal in bitcoins to the modern Play-to-Earn concept. Converting the gaming experience into real money is an idea that has already captured the attention of millions of users.
  • NFT. Irreplaceable tokens run on the blockchain and are used to prove ownership of connected digital assets. They can be linked to anything.
  • The basis of any blockchain project is decentralization. That is why many people are concerned about the recently announced project with a Metaverse from Facebook (Meta). It could be overly centralized and thus kill the idea.

Decentraland

Decentraland is deservedly considered the best blockchain-based 3D virtual universe where players can buy plots of land, build on them, communicate with and trade with other players. Anyone can access Decentraland with a cryptocurrency web3 wallet that works with the Ethereum network and start exploring the virtual world. Decentraland has a MANA token that is used as the base currency and allows you to interact with the ecosystem.

Axie Infinity

Axie Infinity is an NFT-based online game inspired by Pokémon. The world is filled with creatures called Axies. The idea is to collect and breed Axies and use them in battles to earn in-game currency. All resources obtained in the game, including pets, are presented as NFTs and are actually owned by the users. The developers strive to create an ecosystem that is full of gaming experiences and revenue generation.

The Sandbox

The Sandbox is a decentralized virtual game world where you can find thousands of NFTs and create your own. The game allows participants to monetize their personal gaming experience. The game ecosystem is powered by Ethereum and allows participants to share and monetize their game assets while retaining absolute ownership. Sandbox is a cross between a game, a game engine, and a content sharing platform (similar to Steam).

The Theta Network

Theta is good for peer-to-peer (P2P) sharing of video and other information. The project has grown steadily since its inception, with experts believing that it is its development that underpins many Metaverse destinations. Theta actively cooperates with Metaverses, helping to organize concerts and other events in the virtual space. Enjin

Enjin Coin is a cryptocurrency token that social game players can use on the blockchain to buy virtual items. It is also a store of value that can be used in the fast-growing NFT market. Users can create websites, clans, chat, and open virtual merchandise stores. In November 2021, the company formed the Efinity Metaverse Fund to support the growth of the network and ecosystem partners.
