The Greenway, which has hosted craft fair markets for more than two decades, now holds three artisan markets annually in the spring, fall and winter. During this time, the Greenway has expanded its vendor guidelines to include more local businesses, artists and entrepreneurs. Categories include items ranging from baskets and jewelry to fine art, woodworking and ceramics. A number of food purveyors will also be in attendance.

“Shopping local vendors has become a much loved pastime for not just Greenway members, but visitors from around the region,” says Sara Lee, Operations Assistant Director at the Anne Springs Close Greenway. “We welcome thousands of visitors each year to our artisan markets and we are excited to broaden our scope of vendors to include more of what our attendees want and ensuring an excellent variety of items and price points.”

The annual race welcomes runners, walkers and participants of all levels. It is a family-friendly event that will include food, music and fun. Children may participate in the race, and spectators are welcome to cheer on runners and enjoy the post-race festivities. Volunteers are also welcome and vital to making the celebration a success. Each volunteer will receive an official Charlotte NYD5K race shirt (while supplies last) and can enjoy a New Year’s brunch and beer or mimosa (21+) after their shift is over. Charlotte New Year’s Day 5K serves to grow awareness and raise funds to advance community development through the University City Foundation.  Early registration is now open. Tickets are $15-$45 for spectators, early bird and day of registration. Participants can upgrade their experience to a heated tent and additional drinks during the post-race celebration for an additional $10. Registration includes access to the race, a reusable collapsible cup, a beer sample (21+) from Armored Cow Brewery, along with a meal and beverage combo from one of the participating food trucks.

Panthers Get Revenge on 2016 Super Bowl Opponents in 25-15 Victory Over The Broncos

Somehow the post-Rhule, post-McCaffrey, post-Anderson Panthers have found themselves on somewhat of a roll, having now gone 3-3 (3-0 at home) since firing their head coach, trading away their star running back and receiver, and having non-stop drama at the starting QB slot.

Yesterday the Panthers got payback against their 2016 Super Bowl rivals with a 25-15 victory over the Broncos in Uptown Charlotte.

Interim head coach Steve Wilks is now undefeated at home (3-0) and is continuing to strengthen our defense while adding some more strength to our offence.

Sam Darnold started his first game of the season as QB, completing 11 out of 19 throws for 164 yards with a touchdown. DJ Moore was his primary target, finishing the game with 103 receiving yards.

In the running game, D’Onta Foreman brought in 113 yards on 24 carries and Chuba Hubbard ran for 65 yards over 17 attempts.
