USPS Opening One Of America’s First $100 Million Super-Sites in Gastonia To Modernize Mail Delivery

0

The USPS is now building a new $100 million ‘Regional Processing and Distribution Center’ (RPDC) as part of their $40 billion 10-year plan to streamline mail delivery plan across our nation.

Located in the 365-acre NorthPoint Development industrial park between Gastonia and Lowell, this facility is set to be a cornerstone of a high-tech mail flow system in the US.

The Charlotte Regional Processing and Distribution Center spans 700,000 square feet and will utilize advanced AI-powered robots and conveyor systems to enhance mail sorting efficiency for the Southeast region. This centralization will lead to the closure of numerous smaller delivery units and sorting sites.

According to the USPS’s recent report, “RPDCs are strategically important for our modernization. They will act as multi-functional distribution centers for all network originating mail and packages and all destinating packages — effectively centralizing all metro-area originating processing operations in a single building, with crossdocking and other functionality as required in the specific region.”

They are currently designing 11 new RPDCs (Atlanta, GA; Richmond, VA; N. Houston, TX; Greensboro, NC; Santa Clarita, CA; Portland, OR; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Jacksonville, FL; Boise, ID), with 4 set to open in the coming months (Atlanta, Richmond, Charlotte, and Chicago).

The Gastonia facility’s service area will extend as far south as Columbia and as far west as Johnson City, Tennessee. It is expected to employ between 700 and 1,000 workers, with over 400 already hired. This development is part of the US Postal Service’s larger presence in North Carolina, which includes approximately 20,000 employees, with 5,000 based in the Charlotte region.

What do you think about the new USPS system?

Home Hydrotherapy: A Guide to Building Your Own Cold Plunge Room at Home

0

Hydrotherapy, the use of water for therapeutic purposes, has become increasingly popular in recent years. Immersing yourself in cold water can provide both physical and mental benefits, from reducing inflammation to alleviating depression. While many seek out these treatments at spas or dedicated facilities, it’s possible to create your own cold plunge experience right at home. In this article, we’ll walk through the steps for designing and building a home cold plunge room.

Selecting the Right Space

When choosing where to locate your cold plunge, there are a few key factors to consider:

  • Accessibility – Pick a space that is easily accessible from your living area or bedroom for convenience. If this isn’t possible, you may want to look into a private garden cabin that is easy to reach.
  • Size – Ideally your cold plunge tub or pool should accommodate your full body, so measure out at least a 5 by 6 foot space.
  • Plumbing – You’ll need access to water lines for filling and draining the tub. Try and locate your tub near existing plumbing infrastructure if possible.
  • Ventilation – Proper ventilation is essential to prevent mold growth. Choose a space that has windows or vents that can be opened if building inside.
  • Privacy – Most people don’t want their cold plunging on full display, so opt for a space away from heavy foot traffic.

Sourcing Materials

When it comes to the actual cold plunge tub or pool itself, you have options:

  • Purpose-built tubs – Fiberglass or acrylic tubs designed for hydrotherapy are available but they can be pricey. Make sure to choose an insulated tub.
  • Stock tanks – Galvanized stock tanks are an affordable option commonly used for cold plunges. Barrels are very space efficient and make a good choice for those short on room.
  • Kiddie pools – For a budget choice, large heavy-duty plastic kiddie pools can work. Just be sure to clean them thoroughly first.
  • Custom tile – For a built-in look, you can also use a waterproof liner and tile to create a custom in-ground spa pool.

Plumbing and Water Lines

You’ll need a way to conveniently fill and drain your cold plunge. Most home DIYers rely on:

  • Garden hose – Easily attach to existing outdoor spigots for fast filling. Use a submersible pump in the tub for draining.
  • Dedicated water lines – For a permanent setup, have plumbing lines installed directly to your tub controlled by shutoff valves.
  • Chiller – To get the water extra cold, you can use a portable chiller or dehumidifier with a cooling function.
  • Filtration – While not essential, you can filter the water for more sanitary soaks. An aquarium tank filter works for smaller tubs.

Safety and Convenience Upgrades

Some optional additions to make your home cold plunge more user-friendly include:

  • Steps/ladder – Makes it easier and safer to get in and out of the tub. Stainless steel or composite steps work well.
  • Towel bars and hooks – So you can conveniently keep towels and robes within reach.
  • Emergency shutoff switch – If ever needed, you’ll be able to quickly cut power to the chiller.
  • Shelving – Provides storage for bath accessories like brushes, shower shoes, and spa masks.
  • Lighting – Install waterproof LED lighting to set the mood.

Start Plunging

Once your cold plunge is set up, be sure to start slowly and don’t overdo it. Limit your initial plunge sessions to 1-2 minutes and see how your body reacts. Slowly increase the duration while monitoring your comfort level. Listen to your body, relax and enjoy all of the revitalizing benefits of home hydrotherapy.

Golf Swing Analysis: A Deep Dive Into the Science of the Perfect Shot

0

Golf as a sport is a good combination of accuracy, strength, and skill. At the prime of the exquisite game lies the golf swing, which has been studied, divided, and perfected for some time. The question is, what makes the golf swing perfect? The response is found in the science behind it. This feature will discuss the intricate biomechanics and physics behind an effortless golf swing, shedding light on the role of equipment like golf balls in achieving the perfect shot.

The Schematics of a Golf Swing

A golf swing is a challenging, synchronized number of motions that can be divided into a few key elements, One being the address position, which starts with a setup. The golfer’s pose, grasp, and positioning of the body are essential. A good foundation ensures an equalized and swayed swing.

Another element is the backswing, which entails the torso’s motion, the arms’ elongation, and the wrists’ grounding. Schematics studies show that the perfect backswing forms a curve with the golf shaft.

Also, another schematic is the downswing. The change from the backswing to the downswing initiates the speed and power. An instance is when the golfer’s lower part of the body moves and starts the process, conveying the energy up the schematic chain.

The impact is the defining moment. For a good shot, the golf head must make a calculated correspondence with the golf ball. The impact happens when the golfer’s body positioning, golf face angle, and gold head speed are significantly aligned.

The final schematic is follow-through, which is the effect of the impact, completing the swing. It ensures stability and jurisdiction while ensuring a complete transfer of power.

The Physics of the Golf Ball Swing

Being familiar with the physics of a golf swing is also important. The three principles implemented include golf head speed, the speed at which the golf head hits the ball, which should equal the distance the ball will take. The main aim for golfers is to boost the golf head speed while ensuring stability.

The second principle is the launch angle. The angle at which the ball is hit is equivalent to the ground, influencing its flight path. Discovering the perfect launch angle can distinguish between a soaring drive and a small shot.

Finally, the spin gives steadiness and manages the flight of the ball. The backspin elevates the ball, while the sidespin makes it arc. Professional golfers maneuver the spins for the preferred shot shapes.

The Impact of Technology

The current golf science relies on technology to examine their swings. Things like launch monitors, 3D monitor capture systems, and high-speed cameras give significant data on golf and body motions, assisting golfers and coaches in refining their techniques.

Frequent Swing Mistakes and Solutions

Golfers mainly need help with some swing mistakes, from slices to hooks. These problems can be ridiculed and perfected using the science of golf mechanics. For instance, a slice happens when the golf face is open at impact, leading to a sidespin. The golfer will minimize slicing by modifying the grip and golf face angle.

Another flaw is the hook, which happens when the golf face is closed during impact. A good hand and positioning of the body can lead to a good shot.

Distance is also a flaw in golfing, which means adding the distance and enhancing the swings for greater power. Reinforcing the core and rehearsing the hip movements can assist.

Perfect Your Swing for the Ultimate Shot

The science of a good golf swing is combining biomechanics and physics. Golfers who dive into the intricacies of their swing, equipped with knowledge, can improve their methods and eventually aim for perfection on the golf course.

As technology grows, it is expected to get even more perspective on the art and science of golfing. The next time you find yourself on the golf course, remember that at the back of every swing lies a scientific accuracy and perspective of greatness.
