Diners looking for some delicious distractions this summer can escape to fresh flavors during Queen’s Feast: Charlotte Restaurant Week, to run Friday, July 19, through Sunday, July 28, 2024.

This summer’s promotion features more than 100 restaurants around the metro area ready to impress patrons via three-course dining deals highlighting their cuisine, with prix fixe prices ranging from $30 to $50 per person. Customers can visit CharlotteRestaurantWeek.com to view the list of participating restaurants and their special Queen’s Feast menus and make reservations.

Participating restaurants can be found in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Gaston, Union, Lincoln, Catawba, Stanly, and York counties.

July’s restaurant lineup features more than a dozen first-time participants, including 3rd & Fernwood in Midtown; The Bella Ciao, Pisco Gastrolounge, and Spice Charlotte in Uptown; Catalina Kitchen + Bar in Elizabeth; La Capital MX and Salted Melon Market & Eatery in South End; North Italia in South End and Ballantyne; Fin & Fino-Birkdale in Huntersville; Harp and Crown LKN in Cornelius; Cranford Brothers Barbecue in Hickory; and Clover Harvest in Clover, SC.

Since 2008, the semi-annual Charlotte Restaurant Week has provided restaurants the opportunity to showcase their offerings as part of the area’s vibrant and diverse culinary scene. The restaurants garner coveted trial business from new local diners as well as visitors to the area who are drawn by the attractive prix fixe meal deals every January and July.

“Diners can treat themselves and share the fun with friends and family, all at some tasty prices,” said Bruce Hensley, a partner in Hensley Fontana Public Relations, which owns and operates the promotion. “It’s a great opportunity to have a culinary adventure around the metro.”

The Chinese National Team faced a tough warmup ahead of the Paris Olympic Games, playing against the Charlotte Hornets.

Despite fielding second-round picks and G-League talent, the Hornets won convincingly, 93-61. LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges did not participate, Brandon Miller was with Team USA, and Mark Williams was injured.

Bryce McGowans led Charlotte with 20 points, while Jake Stephens, an undrafted free agent, added 14 points. China struggled, with center Hansen Yang scoring a team-high 12 points.

Constitution Party Now Recognized as Official NC Political Party

The State Board of Elections has officially recognized the Constitution Party of North Carolina as a political party.

This recognition offers voters an additional party affiliation option when registering or updating their registration. Now, voters can choose to affiliate with the Constitution, Democratic, Green, Libertarian, No Labels, or Republican parties, or register as unaffiliated.

The Constitution Party of North Carolina will field candidates in November’s election, including Walter Vinny Smith for governor and Wayne Jones for lieutenant governor. The party has until July 23 to provide the names of additional candidates for the 2024 general election.

Voter registration applications are being updated to include the new party. In the meantime, voters can register by checking the “Other” box and writing “Constitution Party” in the “Political Party Affiliation” section.

According to a press release from the state, “The Constitution Party submitted 14,022 valid signatures from registered N.C. voters, 157 more than the required 13,855 signatures”. These signatures were verified by county boards of elections in the counties where they were collected.

Charlotte just set another historic temperature record this morning.

The low temperature at the Charlotte Douglas airport never went below 78°, setting a record for the highest July 10th low ever recorded in Charlotte.

According to the National Weather Service, previous high low record was set back in 1879 with a high low temp of 77°.

Copa América Semifinals Set – Colombia and Uruguay To Face Off In Charlotte Tomorrow

The second Copa América semifinal will feature a heavyweight South American battle tomorrow night in the heart of Charlotte.

Colombia dominated Panama 5-0 in the quarterfinals, securing a spot in the semifinals.

Uruguay, despite playing with 10 men after Nandez’s red card, outlasted Brazil in penalty kicks to advance.

Colombia and Uruguay will face off at Bank of America Stadium on Wednesday, July 10, at 8:00 pm (you can buy tickets here).

Copa América, usually hosted in South America, includes teams from South and Central America, plus the US, Mexico, and Canada.

The winner of Copa América will be either Argentina, Canada, Colombia, or Uruguay. If Argentina loses to Canada, attendees may see Lionel Messi play in Charlotte.

The third-place match will also be held at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, July 13th (you can buy tickets for the 3rd place game here).

Millennials make up nearly 22% of America’s population. This makes their well-being important not only for themselves, but also for the broader US economy.

And, as opportunities and challenges vary greatly across the country, a new report ranked the country’s top metros for Millennials after analyzing 105 metro areas with more than 500,000 residents, evaluating them based on seven key indicators specific to Millennials, such as population growth; demographic share; income levels; access to employer-based health insurance; as well as metro-specific factors, like cost of living and unemployment rate.

Here are some of the key highlights related to Charlotte include:

Charlotte placed 25th among the country’s best metros for Millennials with a total of 61.8 points while ranking 9th regionally.

  • Charlotte ranked 4th among the regional top 10 in terms of cost of living with a value of 96.9 for this metric.
  • The metro earned 5th place among the regional top 10 for its average Millennial household income of $107.126 per year.
  • At a state level, North Carolina had 5 entries among the 100 best metro areas for Millennials: Raleigh at #3, Asheville at #55, Winston at #90 and Greensboro at #93.
  • At a regional level, a total of 7 Southern metro areas ranked among the country’s best places for Millennials.

LT Governor Mark Robinson Going Viral Again Saying “Some folks need killing” in NC Church

North Carolina’s GOP gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson is in hot water once again for a recent speech he game in a North Carolina church.

During a half-hour speech at Lake Church in White Lake, Robinson exclaimed, “Some folks need killing!”

Robinson, the state’s lieutenant governor, justified his statement by labeling it a matter of “necessity,” not vengeance or spite. He targeted a wide range of perceived enemies, from “people who have evil intent” to socialists and Communists.

Robinson has a long history of controversial statements and social media posts.

During a campaign speech in Pitt County, Robinson said he would “absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote.”

Robinson has also expressed skepticism about the Holocaust on Facebook, saying, “This foolishness about Hitler disarming MILLIONS of Jews and then marching them off to concentration camps is a bunch of hogwash.”

During an interview with Sean Moon on his podcast “The King’s Report”, Moon said, “When Hitler genocide all those folks the Jews and the gypsies etc in Germany, the national debt of Germany actually went down, it didn’t go up, it went down – he was paying back the bankers,” to which Mark Robinson replied in agreement saying, “mmhmm, mmhmm, yeah”. During the interview Robinson also agreed with Moon’s wild conspiracies about how the Jews conspired with the Roman Government to kill Jesus, as well as conspiracies about the Rothschild family and George Soros.

Robinson has also posted numerous controversial things on Facebook over the years. The Jewish Insider publication points to a 2018 post where Robinson uses “a Yiddish slur”, that the Black Panther movie “was only created to pull the shekels out of your Schvartze pockets.”

Kemba Walker Is Returning To The Charlotte Hornets

Kemba Walker is returning to the Charlotte Hornets as a player enhancement coach.

Walker, who announced his NBA retirement this past week, is the Hornet’s franchise career leading scorer with 12,009 points.

He joins new head coach Charles Lee’s staff, which also includes Lamar Skeeter, Josh Longstaff, Chris Jent, Blaine Mueller, Ryan Frazier, Matt Hill, and Jermaine Bucknor.

Walker, a four-time NBA All-Star, leads the Hornets in field goals, 3-pointers, free throws, and minutes played. He ranks second in assists and third in steals.

The 34-year-old concluded his career after playing briefly with AS Monaco, helping them win the French League championship. Charlotte also hired Zach Peterson as assistant coach/director of player development and added Austin Vereen and Zach Thomas as video coordinators. The Hornets brought in Reggie Cameron as an associate video coordinator and two-way enhancement coach, and retained John Bowen as a video coordinator.

Chef and TV personality Bobby Flay just opened his new restaurant and test kitchen in SouthPark this past weekend (6100 Fairview Rd).

The menu at the Charlotte’s new ‘Bobby’s Burgers‘ features unique creations like the Crunchburger, BBQ Smokehouse Burger, Nacho Burger, fried chicken sandwich, and the “Beat Bobby Flay” Veggie Burger.

Known for his Food Network show “Beat Bobby Flay,” where chefs compete against each other and the host, Flay partnered with local restaurateur Frank Scibelli. Scibelli, investing in the project, will serve as an adviser.

Additionally, Bobby’s Burgers is planning a second Carolina location at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, set to open by the year’s end. Most of the brand’s eight current locations are in the southwestern US.
