Panthers Suffer Devastating 26-3 Loss To The Chargers To Go 0-2 For The Season

0

The Panthers just suffered yet another devastating loss, falling to 0-2 after a 26-3 defeat against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Rookie quarterback Bryce Young, the former No. 1 overall pick, has completed 55.4% of his passes for 245 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions, resulting in a passer rating of just 44.1. His struggles, combined with the team’s poor offensive showing, have raised concerns about the direction of the franchise.

The Carolina Panthers have now become the third team since the NFL merger to trail by more than 20 points at halftime in the first two games of the season. The Panthers have scored just 28 first-half points in their last 10 games combined and have been outscored 150-28 over that stretch, which reflects the team’s ongoing inability to generate any offensive momentum early in games.

With Bryce Young struggling to gain control of the offense, the Panthers have become the first team since the 2022 Giants to score 10 or fewer points in four consecutive games. They’ve also failed to reach 200 total yards in each of those games, a feat last matched by the 2009 Browns. As fans and analysts question the quarterback’s readiness, the team faces growing pressure to make adjustments before their season slips further away.

A hiker is expected to recover after a 75-foot fall at Crowders Mountain on Wednesday evening, according to officials. The hiker became stuck on a ledge on the backside of the Pinnacle Trail, prompting a large-scale rescue operation.

Numerous crews from the Kings Mountain Fire Department, Gaston Emergency Medical Services, and NC State Park Rangers, responded to the scene. The teams hiked in and were able to lower the hiker approximately 150 feet to the bottom of the mountain.

Using over 1,200 feet of rope, the rescue crews created a braking system to safely transport the hiker to an ambulance.

The patient was then taken to Caromont Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The exact cause of the fall remains under investigation, and the hiker’s identity has not been released.

After one of the worst openers in NFL history, Panthers tickets have plummeted to all-time-lows (inflation adjusted).

With an 0-17 record looking more and more likely, tickets for Sunday’s game have dropped to as low as $17 on StubHub – essentially the same price as a hot dog combo with a bag of chips and a bottle of water.

While the Panthers are likely to experience financial losses in the short term due to reduced ticket sales, they are expected to finish the season with a profit.

City of Charlotte Launches First-Of-Its-Kind Small Business Initiative

0

The City of Charlotte has announced a strategic partnership with TPMA, a national workforce and economic development consulting firm, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the local small business ecosystem.

This initiative, funded by the Charlotte City Council through the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, is part of a broader effort to understand the challenges facing local entrepreneurs and improve resources for growth and sustainability.

TPMA will lead the assessment in order to identify service gaps, resource needs, and growth opportunities for small businesses. The new study will provide valuable insights into the barriers that entrepreneurs encounter and create opportunities for targeted solutions.

“I can’t stress enough how valuable this survey is for shaping the future of Charlotte’s small business landscape,” said Christi Floyd, economic development program manager. “The input we receive will help us understand the unique challenges and opportunities you face, ensuring we can develop targeted resources and programs that truly meet our small business community’s needs. This is your chance to have a direct impact on the policies and initiatives that support your growth.”

As part of the study, city leaders will engage directly with local business owners through surveys and consultations. The citywide small business survey is currently live, allowing entrepreneurs to voice their concerns and share their experiences. The study will conclude in June 2025, and once the data is analyzed, Charlotte plans to develop an implementation strategy. This plan will inform future programs, policies, and resources to support the success and sustainability of small businesses in the Queen City.

Northern Lights Might Be Visible Again Tonight in The NC Mountains

0

A rare chance to witness the Northern Lights in North Carolina may occur due to increased solar activity.

The NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center issued a warning for geomagnetic storming sparked by a coronal mass ejection. The storm intensified with an X-class solar flare, which could make the aurora visible as far south as North Carolina.

While optimal viewing is usually in states like Minnesota and Maine, the ongoing solar cycle may bring more chances of auroras in southern states, including North Carolina, as we near the peak of Solar Cycle 25.

Northern Lights lit up the North Carolina sky for the third time of 2023 on Nov. 5th after an exceptionally powerful CME from the sun blasted our magnetosphere, similar to what is expected to happen tonight.

If today’s storm increases in strength on its approach to earth, there is a small possibility of seeing northern lights in the Carolinas once again.

If you want to get your own shots of the aurora, you’ll need a long-exposure camera. Go to a very dark place where you have an unobstructed view toward the northern sky. The best place would be a remote mountain with north-facing views.

You can find the dark spots in your area using the official light pollution map here.

Happy aurora hunting!

Data Shows the Average North Carolina Homebuyer Negotiated $9,676 Off the Sale Price

0

The American Dream – a little house with a picket fence, a yard just big enough for a dog to stretch its legs, and, of course, the sweet satisfaction of knowing you didn’t pay full price. Yes, for many, buying a home is the ultimate financial milestone. But while some are content to sign on the dotted line, others see the price tag as the opening bid in a high-stakes game.

A recent survey of 3,000 homeowners revealed that North Carolina buyers negotiated an average discount of 3% on home purchases. With the state’s average home price at $322,527, this translates to savings of about $9,676 per transaction. Factors such as property condition and market dynamics played significant roles in these negotiations. Many buyers used home inspections as leverage to reduce prices, while others relied on market conditions, like buyer’s markets, to secure better deals. Timing was also crucial, with many starting negotiations early in the process.

In comparison to other states, North Carolina buyers were among the most successful negotiators. Alabama led the country with an average 4.3% discount, while Arizona buyers managed an average reduction of just 2.7%. The survey also highlighted that most buyers maintained civil negotiations, although 54% reported walking away from deals when sellers refused to budge on price.

Additionally, 36% of respondents mentioned instances where the seller or agent disappeared during negotiations, emphasizing the importance of transparency in real estate. North Carolina’s results show that persistence, timing, and strategy remain key to securing favorable terms in the homebuying process.

Why Online Security Matters for Charlotte’s Elderly

0
The digital age influences every aspect of life, including shopping and socializing. Many elderly people in Charlotte embrace this trend by exploring the internet for various needs. According to Pew Research Center, about 67% of adults aged 65 and older use the internet as of 2021, up from just 14% in 2000. This substantial increase shows that seniors are not shying away from technology; instead, they are actively embracing it; however, “living” in the online world can come with challenges, especially regarding security. But the good news is, understanding the importance of online security can help protect the elderly while enjoying the conveniences offered by technology.
Getting the right tools
Empowering seniors with the right tools to stay secure involves offering education and resources. In other words, workshops and community programs can teach essential online safety tips, such as creating strong passwords and recognizing phishing emails. Local organizations, like the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Centers, can provide valuable guidance. Seniors can also benefit from engaging with family members and friends in discussions about online safety.
Security measures
Having professionals install proper security software is an essential step in securing devices – these programs include antivirus protection, firewalls, and anti-malware tools that detect and block malicious threats. Cybersecurity experts recommend keeping security software updated to protect against new threats. Just as with a physical lock on the door, having a solid digital lock helps safeguard personal information from intruders.
Communicating the importance of being cautious about what to click on also becomes vital. In other words, seniors need to be taught to hover over links before clicking them. When they are reminded to avoid clicking on unfamiliar links or downloading attachments from unknown sources, an essential aspect of safe online behavior is reinforced, By equipping seniors with this knowledge, they will feel more confident while enjoying their online experiences.
Building a Support System
Regular conversations about safe online practices create a supportive environment for seniors in Charlotte, and when seniors feel comfortable asking questions, they can better understand how to use digital tools securely. Community resources, such as local libraries and community centers, offer tech classes tailored for seniors. Building digital literacy also helps seniors feel confident and capable of recognizing online risks, while encouragement from loved ones and community support boosts their motivation to safely engage with the digital world.
Embracing the Digital Landscape
Embracing the digital landscape brings undeniable benefits for Charlotte’s elderly residents. The world offers countless opportunities to connect, shop, and learn from the comfort of home. However, understanding how to stay safe online without fear becomes paramount. With the right security measures and resources, seniors will enjoy the conveniences of the internet confidently.
Encouragement and education pave the way for the elderly to thrive in the digital world. Through community support, online safety, and ongoing discussions with family members, seniors can explore the vast opportunities the internet provides – they just need to remember to take the necessary precautions, remain vigilant, and stay informed about the latest trends.
