Panthers Stadium and Spectrum Center Opening Back Up As Early Voting Locations

0

The Mecklenburg County Board of Elections have voted to make Charlotte’s largest venues early voting locations for the upcoming 2020 election.

During the meeting, the board discussed the need to provide the 300,000+ people who are anticipated to vote early enough voting machines while also allowing for social distancing during the ongoing pandemic.

The Board of Elections now plan on transforming the Bank of America Stadium, the Spectrum Center, and the Bojangles Coliseum (in addition to 33 other smaller sites around our city) into socially distanced and sanitized voting locations.

They will be using the massive venues to spread the voting machines out twice as far as has been done in prior years to at least 6′ away from each other.

The Charlotte Hornets, who currently manage the city-owned Spectrum Center, now join the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, and Detroit Pistons as teams allowing their facilities to be used as voting locations.

What do you think about the new plan?

How to Improve Your Chances of Online Dating Success

0

Online dating was once something that people would keep a secret but today, it has become very mainstream and many couples who met online are quite proud of this fact. Online dating can work for anybody simply because there are millions of people signed up to online dating sites, so the chance of finding somebody who’s great for you is pretty good. But on the other hand, the fact that there are so many potential matches to choose from, and the fact that you are speaking to somebody online rather than face-to-face, could mean that you’re not getting much luck from your online dating journey using top dating apps. Here’s what you can do to improve your chances.

Try Different Dating Sites:

If you’ve been signed up to a certain dating site for quite some time and don’t appear to be getting much luck from it, it might be time to think about switching to another one. There’s no rules that say you can’t utilize a number of different dating sites at the same time, so consider using a few different ones that are designed for people like you. Choose your dating site wisely to make sure that you are using one that is a good fit for you and what you are looking for; some are designed for hookups more than they are serious relationships.

Know What You Want:

You are going to struggle to find the right person for you if you don’t know what you want and what you are looking for. Spend some time thinking about what you want in a partner and a relationship before you start to find Chico pretty girls. Otherwise, you could simply end up speaking with loads of people but not being able to spot what you want even when it’s right in front of you. Don’t rush into dating if you don’t feel ready; there’s nothing wrong with staying single for a while and figuring yourself out.

Be Positive:

Positivity goes a long way in helping you find success when using a local dating service in Apple Valley. In fact, most people say that they are going to be more interested in viewing somebody’s dating profile and potentially getting to know them if they use positive language. Try and steer clear of using self-deprecating humor or anything else that could come over as negative on your dating profile and let your positive outlook on the world shine through instead.

Choose Interesting Profile Photos:

The photos that you choose for your dating profile can say a lot about you, so it’s important to take the time to choose the right ones. Opt for nice photos that stand out from the crowd instead of the generic selfie that will run the risk of simply making you blend in. Your first photo should be a nice full-body or head and shoulders shot of yourself and you should also include some pictures of you doing things that you enjoy, as this can make it easier for your potential matches to start a conversation with you about your interests.

The right gem for these people is the yellow sapphire, as it helps them achieve more success and happiness in their lives.

Caution should be taken when picking the right gemstone to communicate what the celestial bodies are relaying back to your life.

A wrong choice can work against you and worsen your situation. Be careful to receive guidance from an astrologer before you can decide on the right gemstone to purchase.

What to Do If You’ve Incurred a Personal Injury in Public

Owing to the congestion and presence of structures, vehicles, pet animals, and other installations, public places can pose a risk, that may harm people. Some of the common injuries that can occur in public places may include car accidents, dog bites, injuries from falling objects, or harm by other people’s actions.

These accidental injuries can often result in emotional anguish, loss of opportunities, trauma, and consequently affects the livelihoods of some people. This, therefore, calls for a need to handle the situation from a point of information and caution—this is vital in securing compensation or reducing the effects of such accidents.

Below are some tips to follow, if you get injured in public places:

  • Seek Medical Attention

Your body may be bleeding from the injuries; or you could also have suffered spinal cord injuries, fractures, or broken limbs. Call for an ambulance to receive immediate medical attention. If there are members of the public, seek first aid or accept any medical assistance offered to you.

If your injuries are severe ensure you get examined and treated by the concerned doctors or medical staff. This will help in the healing, and getting certified medical records and treatment.

This stage is important for seeking compensation from insurance companies and those parties who caused the accidents. Ensure the medical professionals provide a detailed report of your injury.

  • Gather Evidence

Personal injuries cause bodily harm and financial loss that are difficult to recover without due compensation. This is the role of insurance firms and compensation legal suits. Also, any case has to be backed by solid evidence and witnesses.

Ensure you do the following: –

  • Take Photographs– If you are badly injured and sustained serious injuries, ask someone to take pictures of the scene. These are important in proving your case beyond a reasonable doubt.
  • Take Details Of The Witnesses– Ensure you capture details like phone number, place of residence, name, and their willingness to assist you in solving the case.
  • Notes– Take any other notes like over speeding, negligence, and other special notes that can help solidify the case or compensation quest.

If you’re not in a good state, you can request help from available injury lawyers to gather all the facts of the case.

  • Talk to Personal Injury Lawyer

After a personal injury, your lifestyle will probably be affected, including the ability to earn a living. You need someone to walk with you through this journey and provide some professional support. Talking to reputable law firms like Shiner Law Group or other great firms is a positive step forward.

Hiring attorneys will provide you the following benefits:

  • Interpreting the Insurance Contract Document– Insurance policies include technical terms and jargon. Interpretation of these terms can affect your compensation potential. A lawyer can offer intervention to avoid unfairness from the insurance firms.
  • Seeking Medical Assistance– A lawyer can offer emergency medical assistance awaiting compensation. This can be done using the contingency fee plan.
  • Evaluating All Documentation– A lawyer can evaluate and ensure the completeness of medical records, required to defend the case. They can also assist in gathering sufficient evidence for your case.
  • Out-Of-Court Settlements– A lawyer has the experience, calmness, and the knowledge that’s required to achieve a peaceful settlement.

  • Scrutinize Any Out Of Court Settlement

When other parties cause accidents and personal injuries, they’re sometimes quick to offer compensation. This is an affirmation of their guilt. It could also be an attempt to avoid any court cases or a fair conclusion of the matter—this isn’t for your best interest.

Don’t be too eager to accept any offer. You should also avoid negotiating at this time; the state of mind and the body can affect your decision-making ability

  • File An Insurance Or Compensation Claim

Seeking compensation from insurance offers relief from the sustained injuries. This includes medical treatment, compensation of financial loss, and any future damages. It’s important to note the statute of limitations puts a cap on the time spent before filing a case.

If you’re not satisfied with the offer given by the insurance or compensating party, talk to a lawyer. This’ll involve computing new payment structures and sealing of possible loopholes the compensating parties may have utilized.

If a stand-off ensues, leading to a court case, Catastrophic and Personal Injury Attorneys play a crucial role in structuring the case for better compensation from the judicial system.

Conclusion

The effects of personal injury affect the ability to conduct life normally. This calls for compensation from insurance and other parties. To achieve the best compensation package, you must take relevant steps like gather the evidence, seek and document medical assistance, and file claims on time.

Hence, a lawyer can help you get better value from the compensation or reduce the burden of seeking relief.

US Department of Labor Fines 12 McDonalds in North Carolina For Violating Child Labor Laws

0

After an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD), Mt. Airy Partners Inc. – a Summerfield, North Carolina-based enterprise operating 12 McDonald’s restaurants in North Carolina’s Piedmont Triad Region – has paid a civil money penalty of $17,586 for violating child labor requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

The WHD investigation determined Mt. Airy Partners employed 35 employees, ages 14- and 15-years-old, across its 12 locations. The employer violated child labor requirements by allowing minors to work outside of the hours allowed for that age group, when the law limits their hours to working no more than three hours on a school day and between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. during the period of Labor Day through June 1. The employer also violated FLSA recordkeeping requirements when it failed to maintain proof of age for most of its minor employees.

“Child labor laws exist to strike a balance between providing a meaningful work experience for young people and keeping them safe on the job so that the work does not jeopardize their health and well-being or educational opportunities. Employers must not allow 14 and 15-year-olds to work beyond legally permitted hours,” said Wage and Hour Division District Director Richard Blaylock, in Raleigh, North Carolina. “We encourage all employers to review their employment obligations and to contact the Wage and Hour Division with any questions they may have.”

The Department offers numerous resources to ensure employers have the tools they need to understand their responsibilities and to comply with federal law, such as online videos and confidential calls to local WHD offices.

For more information about the FLSA, child labor and other laws enforced by the Wage and Hour Division, contact the toll-free helpline at 866-4US-WAGE (487-9243). Information is also available at https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd, including a search tool for workers who may be owed back wages collected by WHD.

Charlotte’s First Indoor Mini Golf Cocktail Lounge Officially Reopening After Covid-19 Shutdown

0

Putt-Putt fans rejoice – Charlotte’s biggest, first, and only indoor miniature golf and cocktail lounge just announced they are reopening after being shut down for nearly 4 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stroke Charlotte combines a high-tech nine-hole miniature golf mini-golf course with a 1970s-inspired cocktail lounge in the heart of Plaza Midwood.

The unique concept was the brainchild of Scott and Ashleigh Gadd, who sold Charlotte’s popular ‘Axe Club of America’ back in October and decided to create something a little less dangerous and a little more unique.

“From our decor, to our course, to the drinks at our lounge, everything is meant to surprise you, keep you interested, and to have fun,” Stroke’s CEO Ashleigh Gadd told me. “We may throw you for a couple loops, but that’s the intention.”

The unique course starts at hole #1 by the front door, then snakes around plans, unique seating arrangements, countless drink holders, and some truly unique surprises along the way. Once you’ve played the course and had a few drinks, Strokes also offers a free-to-play arcade putting games to satisfy even the most ardent indoor putt-putt fanatic.

In addition to a truly unique game of mini-golf, Stroke also offers some of the most creative cocktails in the Queen City, featuring 9 signature drinks that change seasonlly, including the popular ‘New South Sour’ with strawberry wine and the Bermuda Thousand with 1000 Piers Gin from NC’s Hackney Distillery.

After you’ve worked up an appetite dominating the greens, Stroke also features a 9-item small bites menu with clubhouse inspired dishes.

Stroke Charlotte is located at 1318 Pecan Ave in Plaza Midwood.

You can find out more about Stroke, as well as what changes they have made to help keep people as safe as possible during COVID-19 on their website here.
