NC Roadtrippers Only Driving As Far As Virginia, Due to Gas Prices, Survey Finds

0
  • High gas prices and soaring inflation are reducing road trips by 272 miles.
  • North Carolina families planning road trips will travel 48% less distance on average.

A survey of 3,023 road trippers by FamilyDestinationsGuide.com has revealed the extent to which soaring gas prices and rising inflation will affect families’ vacation plans this summer. North Carolinians surveyed say their usual summer road trips will effectively be cut by almost half (by 48%). Usually each average roadtrip is 568 miles, however, this summer the average is expected to be 296 miles (272 miles less). This is equivalent to driving as far as Petersburg (VA), and back. And it is not only roadtrippers who are altering their summer vacation plans. Car rentals have had one of the largest price hikes, at around 40% more expensive than the average over the previous decade. Coupled with price increases in line with summer travel demand, those vacationing over summer are likely looking to dedicate fewer finances towards fuel and travel.

Those in Alaska and Wyoming said they would be traveling the closest to home. Vacationers here said they’ll be traveling 90% less distance than their road trips previously. In Alaska, this would be the equivalent of a short trip from the state capital, Juneau, to Saint Terese.

When it comes to concerns about summer, 75% said they’re more worried about high inflation costs and prices than they are about covid. Combined with overall increased costs of living, many vacationers are looking to save money wherever they can. In fact, nearly 3 in 4 respondents said they’re more likely to opt in for free activities (like board games at their hotel), rather than paid-for activities, over their vacation time this year. And nearly half said they’re more likely to eat at casual fast-food stops or street vendors when they go on summer vacation this year, as compared to sit-down restaurants and bars.

Given the exponentially high price of car rentals at the moment, 1 in 3 vacationers also said they’re more likely now to visit a destination that doesn’t require driving, which could in turn be a boost for beach destinations.

Additionally, nearly 3 in 4 regular road trippers admit they are more likely to skip their summer road trip this year, due to the high price of gas and inflation costs.

Eli Lilly Breaks Ground On New $1 Billion Drug Plant in Concord

0

This weekend, state and local officials gathered on Concord’s old Phillip Morris site to break ground on Eli Lilly’s new $1 billion, 800,000 square feet, 5-building drug manufacturing campus. The new facility will employ nearly 600 workers with an average salary of over $70k.

The company plans to start production at the new facility by 2024.

Eli Lilly is a American pharmaceutical manufacturer with an annual revenue of over $22 billion. Last year, the company was ranked 118 on the Fortune 500 list. They are the makers of Cialis, Cymbalta, Prozac, Thimerosal, Zyprexa, and dozens of other brand-name and generic drugs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lilly as they usher in a new era of biotechnology in our region, with Concord as a leading destination for innovation and excellence,” said Concord Mayor Bill Dusch in a press release. “Lilly is a global leader in biotechnology, and we are proud to partner with them as they deliver hope to patients in our community and around the world through life-saving medical treatments manufactured right here in Concord.”

What do you think about the new facility?

Bingo: Is It a Game of Luck or Strategy?

0

Do you love playing Bingo? Some people see it as a game of luck, while others believe that it’s all about strategy. In this blog post, we will explore the debate over whether Bingo is a game of luck or strategy. We will look at both sides of the argument and let you decide which one you think is correct!

What is bingo?

Bingo has been around for centuries, and it is one of the most popular games in the world. It is played by people of all ages, and there are Bingo halls in almost every country. Bingo is a very simple game, and it can be played with just a few supplies. All you need is a Bingo card (or cards), some chips or markers, and a way to keep track of the numbers that are called out.

What is the history of bingo?

Bingo is thought to have originated in Italy in the 16th century. It was then brought to France, and from there it spread to other parts of Europe and the world. Bingo became popular in the United States in the 1920s, and it has been growing in popularity ever since. Bingo is now one of the most popular games in both online and offline casinos.

How do you play bingo?

Bingo is a very simple game, and it can be learned by anyone in just a few minutes. The basic idea is to match the numbers on your card with the numbers that are called out. If you are playing with multiple cards, you will want to look for patterns or combinations that will help you win.

The object of Bingo is to be the first person to get all of the numbers on your card checked off. The numbers are drawn at random, and players mark them off as they are called out. When someone gets all of their numbers checked off, they shout “Bingo!” and win the game.

Bingo is usually considered to be a game of luck because the numbers are drawn at random and there is no way to predict which numbers will be called. However, some people believe that Bingo is a game of strategy. They argue that Bingo requires players to think quickly and make decisions about which numbers to mark off on their card. What do you think? Is Bingo a game of luck or strategy?

Is bingo luck or skill?

There are several reasons why people might believe that Bingo is a game of strategy. For one thing, Bingo requires players to pay attention and think quickly. Players have to listen carefully as the numbers are called out, and they need to decide which numbers to mark off on their card. Bingo also requires players to make decisions about which Bingo card to use.

Some Bingo cards have more numbers on them than others, and some Bingo cards have numbers that are grouped together in a way that makes it easier to get Bingo. Players need to decide which Bingo card will give them the best chance of winning.

Bingo is also a game of patience. Players need to wait for the right moment to shout “Bingo!” If they shout “Bingo!” too early, they might not actually have all of the numbers on their card checked off. And if they wait too long, someone else might beat them to it! Think you have what it takes? Check out some new bingo sites at Bingosites.co.uk before playing online.

What is the future of bingo?

Bingo is a game that has been around for centuries, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Bingo halls are still popular, and Bingo is also one of the most popular games in online casinos. It seems likely that Bingo will continue to grow in popularity in the years to come.

With the growth of online bingo, the game has become more popular than ever before. Bingo halls are still popular, but now players can enjoy Bingo from the comfort of their own homes. Online Bingo is convenient, and it’s easy to find Bingo games that are suitable for all budgets. It’s also easy to find Bingo games with different themes, such as sports-themed Bingo or holiday-themed Bingo. With so many different types of Bingo available, it’s no wonder that the game is more popular than ever before!

Summary

So, is Bingo a game of luck or strategy? The answer might depend on who you ask. Some people believe that Bingo is a game of luck because the numbers are drawn at random and there is no way to predict which numbers will be called. Others believe that Bingo is a game of strategy because it requires players to pay attention, think quickly, and make decisions about which Bingo card to use. What do you think? Is Bingo a game of luck or strategy?

Why can online games live or die depending on their online review scores?

0

North Carolina is a fantastic place to live and nowhere in the state sums this up better than the city of Charlotte. As well as a thriving local economy and sense of community, there is just so much to keep people entertained. One of the more recent ways of having fun to take off is playing games online. Internet-based video games are a classic example of this and many people around the state love to play them now.

Although online casino play is not yet legal in North Carolina, this would be another form of digital gaming to enjoy if it were ever put into law – as states such as New Jersey have done. As online gambling NJ wide at top iGaming platforms such as Resorts Casino (which has attractive bonus offers and lots of fun games to enjoy) shows, this way of gaming online can be very exciting.

Any kind of online game tends to live or die by its online review scores though – but why is this?

Online review scores have great influence on gamers

This is perhaps the major reason why online review scores can make or break a game. A batch of positive scores, for example, can make any game sound amazing and make other gamers want to try it.

Bad reviews, on the other hand, can have the opposite effect and make people not want to play it. Most people have got used to looking at online reviews before trying anything out now, and this also extends to online gaming.

Helps to grab media headlines for the game

Media headlines are an ever-present part of life. Look at how Mecklenburg County’s status as a wealthy part of NC was reported recently! For this reason, online reviews of internet-based games can help a game connect with the media at large. Print-based newspapers, magazines and online news sites, for example, will soon pick up on a buzz around a game that has been generated by positive online reviews.

In turn, they will start to run stories on the game to build up the hype around it. The same will be true if bad online reviews start to surface – though these stories will be reporting the negative feedback being heard about the online game in question.

Online reviews are so visible in modern life

The simple fact is that online review scores are so visible in modern life and something that is hard to get away from for products such as internet-based games. This high-level visibility means that any reviews are seen by lots of people worldwide and can therefore shape a game’s destiny. For this reason, they really are key to how well a game does.

Online reviews are vital to online games

With more people than ever willing to share their thoughts via online reviews, scores really do play a huge role in deciding whether an online game is a hit or a flop. As the reasons above show, there are a few key explanations for why this happens.

The Most Likely Ways Employees Will Die at Work

0

Despite regulations covering safety and protection at the workplace, there is still a significant number of work-related deaths in North Carolina every year. Therefore, businesses should continue to aim for the highest safety standards in the workplace and proactively close any gaps in employee safety and well-being.

Additionally, workers’ compensation needs to be a vital part of a firm’s insurance coverage to protect both employees as well as the business. For example, employees and their families affected by accidents would need compensation for medical bills and losing a loved one. In contrast, the business would need coverage from bankruptcy were anyone to sue them for wrongful death.

While there can be many causes of unfortunate workplace fatalities, some causes are more common than others. Here’s a look at some of the more common causes of workplace deaths and what can be done to prevent them.

Falls

Falling from a height is one of the leading causes of workplace injuries and death. This type of hazard is often seen in construction, electrical work, and firefighting. Such injuries and fatalities can be significantly prevented by wearing a safety harness, employing safety nets, and installing guardrails. In addition to improving safety, businesses must also ensure they have workers’ compensation NC insurance to protect employees and the business. Cover for workers’ compensation in NC can be found via companies like The Hartford.

Electrical Accidents

Electrical accidents can happen when an electrical current malfunction or is negligently used. Power lines are especially implicated in electrocution deaths. Therefore, employees working near power lines must be very careful and keep themselves and their tools and equipment at least ten feet away from the lines. In addition, wiring hazards need to be taken seriously. Frayed or work cords must never be used. All power tools must be grounded using a grounding pin.

Being Struck

Being struck by heavy, falling objects is another leading cause of fatalities and injuries. The field of construction is more vulnerable to these kinds of events. Wearing approved hard hats on construction sites and anywhere where there is a possibility of falling debris can help prevent some of these injuries. In addition, vehicles operated in reverse should activate the backup alarm to alert people and use barricades around cranes. Reflective vests are another helpful tool.

Caught-In

Workplace fatalities and injuries can also be significantly caused by employees and workers getting caught in objects or machinery. This can commonly occur in agriculture, manufacturing machinery, excavation, or trench collapses. To prevent these types of accidents, workers must install trench boxes or slope the trench side walls. In addition, equipment such as ladders, ramps, stairways, and other secure types of egress must be used. Every site must also employ a qualified person knowledgeable about soil type, sloping techniques, OSHA standards, etc.

Workplace fatalities are an unfortunate reality in the world of business. Firms must continue to work towards the highest possible safety standards for all their employees. They must also protect the business and its employees with the help of workers’ compensation insurance cover.

In 2020 Thitikul turned pro and was one golfer with great potential. We cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store for her.

Final word

2022 is an exciting season for golf, but we can look forward to 2023 with excitement. We have newcomers to watch out for. We even have established players that we hope will return to their previous glory. We can’t wait to see what these players will be up to in 2023.

Black-Owned VC Firm Launching Microloan Lending Arm For Charlotte Startups

0

Black Pearl Investments, a Black-owned venture capital firm focused on reducing health disparities across the globe, will officially launch its lending arm on June 20 during a community event titled, “Going Beyond Access (To Capital).”

Black Pearl will begin offering microloans of up to $100,000 to startups in the Charlotte market. Unlike traditional underwriting, credit will not be the primary determining factor. Instead, Black Pearl will utilize proprietary metrics and algorithms to gauge growing business risk.

“On the heels of Juneteenth and the focus on what freedom means to the Black community, Black Pearl hopes to provide economic freedom to Black business owners by removing the barriers which often prevent them from reaching the next level,” said Dr. Shante Williams, CEO of Black Pearl Global Investments and chair of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce (CMBCC). “We are separating ourselves from our peers by matching capital to business needs rather than asking the business owner to try to fit into a narrow box.”

According to a 2021 Small Business Credit Survey released by the 12 Reserve Banks of the Federal Reserve System, Black businesses that applied for traditional forms of financing were least likely to receive the amount of financing initially requested. Through Black Pearl’s lending arm, the firm plans to reduce those obstacles by providing capital to businesses beyond those seeking venture capital dollars.

Along with CMBCC, Black Pearl is also partnering with The IKEA US Community Foundation to deploy $25,000 to five Black businesses during the June 20 event, which will be held at 1501 South Mint — a Black-owned lounge in the Wilmore neighborhood. US Bank has also committed funding to support participating businesses.

“We like to talk about small businesses being the heartbeat of America, but quite often many small businesses can’t walk into their bank and get a loan. That’s where partners like Black Pearl can step in to support these entrepreneurs with funding that can go toward things like buying inventory or other needs that new businesses must consider,” Williams said.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public, but registration is required. Interested attendees can RSVP through Eventbrite.
