14th Charlotte Film Festival Coming Next Week

The Charlotte Film Festival (CFF) marks its 14th edition by welcoming filmmakers, audiences, media, industry and Charlotte Film Society members to Charlotte with the announcement of the official schedule of films and presentations. For the first time in its history, every film will be shown in one location: the new Independent Picture House, Charlotte’s exclusive home of independent and foreign films. CFF kicks off Wednesday, September 28 with a special screening of Something in the Dirt and runs through Sunday, October 2, culminating with a special screening of Broker.

“This year we had more entries than ever before, which shows us two things: independent film is alive and well, and the Charlotte Film Festival plays an important role in the development and popularity of independent film making,” states Taylor Montalto, Charlotte Film Festival Program Director. “We have films entered from around the world, numerous states and of course, from the creative community here in Charlotte. It’s truly an outstanding lineup.”

There will be screenings of more than 100 films over the five-day period, with films coming from 15 countries including Canada, Mexico, Italy, Kenya, Sweden, Taiwan, Germany, Cote d’Ivoire, Iran, Brazil, Haiti, Netherlands, South Africa, India and of course, the United States. Charlotte filmmakers have a strong presence at the festival, with 18 films to be screened.
