GE Aerospace Invests $52.9 Million in Major North Carolina Expansion

0

GE Aerospace has announced plans to invest more than $52.9 million in North Carolina to expand its advanced manufacturing and testing facility, strengthening one of North Carolina’s most valuable high-tech operations. The expansion will support new production capacity, testing capabilities, and additional workforce needs at a site that already builds some of the most critical components used in modern aviation.

The West Jefferson facility—located about 90 minutes north of Charlotte — produces essential rotating parts for CFM LEAP engines, including blisks, high-pressure turbines, and spools. These engines power a large portion of the global commercial fleet. GE Aerospace technology is now used on three of every four commercial aircraft and two of three U.S. military combat aircraft and helicopters, underscoring the strategic importance of the company’s North Carolina presence.

“More than 400 aerospace companies call North Carolina home,” said Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley in a press release. “Our booming aviation and aerospace sector continues to thrive thanks to innovators like GE Aerospace. With our STEM talent and research and training centers, North Carolina will remain first in talent while attracting global manufacturers for our aviation supply chain.”

GE Aerospace employs roughly 2,000 workers across four North Carolina locations, with about 20 percent of its workforce made up of U.S. military veterans. The new expansion will create additional roles for apprentice machinists, inspectors, and engineers, generating an estimated annual payroll impact exceeding $2.2 million for the surrounding region.

To support the project, the company will receive a performance-based $100,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, which helps local governments attract high-quality jobs and private-sector investment. Companies receive no upfront payment; instead, they must meet job creation and investment goals before any funds are awarded. All OneNC grants also require matching local government participation, making the incentive fully contingent on local approval.

Ice and Dangerously Low Temps Could Disrupt The Grid – Duke Energy Warning Customers To Conserve Power

0

After Saturday’s historic snowstorm, the Carolinas now face dangerously cold temperatures that could push wind chills below zero. Duke Energy is now urging customers to conserve power to reduce grid strain and possible outages.

Overnight lows could dip down into the single digits, and by Monday morning, wind chills could range from 0 to 5 degrees below zero. Even by 4pm, temperatures will only reach into the 30s.

Road conditions throughout the Charlotte region remain a major concern. Lingering snow and ice will keep many roads treacherous through Monday morning. Drivers should avoid travel if possible and carry blankets, water, and a flashlight if necessary.

Duke Energy warms that the extreme cold will significantly strain the power grid. They are asking customers across the Carolinas to voluntarily reduce energy usage tomorrow – especially during peak usage hours between 4am and 10am.

The utility says demand is running 10 to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. To help prevent temporary outages, customers are encouraged to lower thermostats, delay major appliance use, turn off unused devices, and charge electric vehicles midday.

“We know it’s inconvenient to reduce electric use, but it makes a real difference.” said Duke Energy VP Gerald Wilson in a press release. “We are taking every step to meet our customers energy needs, including maximizing our generation and purchasing power and working with large commercial and industrial customers who have demand response programs. We appreciate our customers’ cooperation, patience and understanding as we work to maintain reliable service across the Carolinas.”

Temperatures in Charlotte are expected to remain under 50 until Friday afternoon.

How Selenium AI Is Transforming Test Automation in 2026

0

For years, Selenium has been a cornerstone of browser-based test automation, trusted by QA teams for its flexibility, open source nature, and strong ecosystem. However, as software systems have grown more dynamic and release cycles have become more aggressive, the limitations of traditional Selenium automation have become increasingly apparent. In 2026, Selenium AI is redefining how automated testing is designed, executed, and maintained, helping teams overcome long-standing challenges while elevating overall testing maturity.

The Constraints of Traditional Selenium Automation

Conventional Selenium automation relies heavily on static locators, rule-based scripts, and manual test design. While effective in stable environments, this approach struggles when applications change frequently. Minor UI updates can break entire test suites, resulting in high maintenance overhead. Dynamic elements, asynchronous loading, and frequent DOM updates further complicate execution, often leading to flaky tests that fail without meaningful defects.

These challenges have real consequences. Test instability slows CI and CD pipelines, reduces trust in automation results, and forces teams to invest significant time in script maintenance rather than quality improvement. By 2026, such inefficiencies will no longerbe sustainable for organizations aiming to deliver software at speed and scale.

How Selenium AI Changes the Automation Paradigm

Selenium AI enhances traditional automation by introducing intelligence into test creation and execution. Instead of relying solely on static instructions, AI-powered capabilities learn from application behavior, historical test runs, and execution patterns.

One of the most impactful advancements is self-healing automation. When locators change or elements shift, AI-driven systems analyze context, attributes, and structural relationships to identify the correct element automatically. Tests recover automatically, significantly reducing maintenance effort and increasing test reliability.

AI also enables intelligent test generation. By analyzing user journeys, application flows, and existing test coverage, Selenium AI tools can suggest or generate test cases that reflect real-world usage. This allows QA teams to expand coverage efficiently while maintaining alignment with actual user behavior.

Addressing Flakiness and Improving Execution Stability

Flaky tests have long been one of Selenium’s most persistent issues. Selenium AI mitigates this problem by distinguishing between genuine failures and transient execution issues. AI-based execution engines dynamically adapt wait strategies, analyze recurring failure patterns, and isolate unstable tests before they impact pipelines.

Over time, this creates cleaner, more predictable test suites. Teams gain confidence in automation results, enabling faster feedback loops and smoother integration with DevOps and continuous delivery workflows.

Achieving Smarter, Risk-Based Test Coverage

In 2026, effective test coverage is driven by insight rather than volume. Selenium AI platforms analyze code changes, historical defect data, and production usage to identify high-risk areas. Tests are prioritized based on impact, relevance, and likelihood of failure.

This risk-based approach ensures that critical scenarios receive appropriate attention while reducing redundant execution. The result is higher quality coverage, faster test cycles, and more efficient use of testing resources.

Tools and Frameworks Supporting Selenium AI

The Selenium AI ecosystem continues to expand, with tools and frameworks designed to integrate seamlessly into existing testing pipelines. Platforms highlighted on resources such as testautomationtools.dev showcase solutions that enhance Selenium with capabilities like visual validation, intelligent orchestration, and cross-browser optimization.

Many modern testing platforms combine Selenium AI with cloud-based infrastructure, enabling large-scale execution across browsers and devices without operational complexity. For teams seeking deeper insights, a well-maintained blog to learn more about Selenium AI often provides practical examples, architectural guidance, and implementation strategies drawn from real-world use cases.

Tangible Benefits for QA and Engineering Teams

The adoption of Selenium AI delivers measurable improvements across teams. QA engineers spend less time fixing broken scripts and more time validating application behavior. Testers at all experience levels benefit from AI-assisted workflows that reduce complexity and improve consistency.

From an organizational perspective, the benefits are equally compelling. Faster release cycles, lower automation maintenance costs, and improved defect detection contribute directly to better product quality and reduced operational risk.

Selenium AI as the Future of Test Automation

By 2026, Selenium AI has evolved from an emerging concept into a practical necessity. While traditional Selenium remains foundational, AI-driven enhancements have become essential for maintaining stability, scalability, and relevance in modern testing environments.

As applications continue to grow in complexity, Selenium AI offers a clear evolution of automation, preserving Selenium’s strengths while introducing adaptability and intelligence. For teams committed to long-term quality and efficiency, Selenium AI represents not just an upgrade but the future standard of test automation.

Why Simple Games Keep Winning in Modern Online Casinos

0

Online casinos don’t lack options. If anything, there are too many. New games arrive constantly, often with more features layered on top of each other. Still, when you watch what people return to over time, the picture stays fairly consistent. It’s usually the simpler games that hold attention. Not because players don’t notice the others, but because simple games fit more easily into how casino play actually happens.

Most Sessions Are Unplanned

Very few people sit down with the intention of studying a new game. Most sessions start casually. A few minutes here, a short break there. In those moments, simple games make sense. You don’t need to remember rules from last time or work out what a feature does. The game explains itself almost immediately. More complex titles can be interesting, but they often ask for a level of focus that the moment doesn’t really support.

Familiar Games Feel Predictable in a Good Way

Players come back to games they recognise. That doesn’t mean those games always perform better. It means they behave in familiar ways, the kind of consistency people get used to when they play regularly on platforms like Bet way. When someone already knows roughly how a game works, there’s less tension. Outcomes don’t need to be interpreted. Nothing feels surprising in the wrong direction. Over time, that predictability becomes comforting, especially across longer periods of play. If you want the brand to feel even more incidental, I can tuck it deeper into the sentence or move it to the last line.

Clear Results Reduce Doubt

Simple games tend to show outcomes clearly. A round ends, a result appears, and it’s easy to understand how things landed. That clarity matters. When players don’t have to think about what just happened, they move on more easily. Even losing feels cleaner when the process is obvious. With more complicated mechanics, results can feel harder to follow. Nothing may be wrong, but uncertainty still creeps in.

Attention Is Rarely Undivided

Casino play often happens alongside something else. People glance away. They check messages. They switch tabs. Simple games survive that kind of distracted play better than most. You can step away briefly and come back without feeling like you missed something important. Games that depend on timing or layered decisions don’t always fit that pattern.

Complexity Adds Up Over Time

Even players who enjoy deeper mechanics can feel worn down over longer sessions. Every extra feature adds a small mental cost. Simple games reduce that load. There’s less to process and fewer things competing for attention. That makes them easier to return to, session after session. It’s less about excitement and more about comfort.

Platforms Quietly Reinforce the Pattern

Simple games also tend to load faster, display better on mobile, and fit neatly into casino layouts. They don’t need long explanations or tutorials. Because of that, they’re often more visible. Players see them first and use them more often. Over time, that familiarity becomes a habit. No pressure is needed. Simplicity does the work on its own.

Simple Doesn’t Mean Stuck

These games aren’t unchanged. Visuals improve. Performance gets smoother. Small adjustments make play feel better without making it more complicated. That restraint explains why they keep winning. In a space full of choice, the games that ask the least tend to last the longest.

National Guard Called In After 100+ Car Pileup on I-85 Near Kannapolis

0

Interstate 85 northbound near Kannapolis shut down Saturday after a massive multi-vehicle pileup trapped more than 100 vehicles in the snow. Authorities said at least 30 tractor-trailers were among the vehicles stuck on the highway.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the incident happened on the northbound side before Exit 63 (Lane Street). Troopers said what started as a smaller crash escalated quickly as slick roads and freezing temperatures locked traffic in place.

The North Carolina National Guard was requested to help with recovery and clearing efforts. Reports said multiple Guard trucks were called to assist alongside local heavy equipment.

Officials urged drivers heading north to avoid the area and use detours around the affected exits. They warned clearing the interstate could take hours because large trucks could not gain traction or momentum in the snow.

SLED Now Investigating Today’s Fatal Deputy-Involved Shooting in Fort Mill

0

SLED is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday morning in Fort Mill, according to York County Sheriff Tony Breeden. The incident occurred at around 9:20 am this morning.

Deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a person who was unconscious and not breathing. When deputies arrived, they found the person inside a home, awake, and armed with a knife.

Authorities say the individual barricaded themselves in a room while holding the knife. A deputy ordered the person to drop the weapon and exit the room. Instead, officials say the person opened the door, refused commands, and charged at the deputy.

The deputy fired his weapon, killing the suspect. No deputies were physically injured during the encounter.

Per Sheriff’s Office policy, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has taken over the investigation. The deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave.

The incident took place on Pine Ridge Ct. in Fort Mill’s Twin Lakes Estates trailer park near the highly controversial Silfab factory.

Officials said all further details will be released by SLED once the investigation progresses.

Winter Storm Gianna Could Dump Up to 12 Inches on Charlotte This Weekend

0

Charlotte could see its first major snowstorm in years as Winter Storm Gianna targets the Carolinas this weekend. Forecasters say the system will rapidly intensify into a bomb cyclone, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions.

Snow is expected to spread into the Charlotte region Friday night, as cold air pours south and low pressure organizes off the Southeast coast. The National Weather Service says Charlotte could see significant accumulation, with some forecasts now calling for up to 12 inches of snow.

Conditions worsen Saturday as the storm strengthens near the coast. Heavy snow, gusty winds, and low visibility are likely across much of North Carolina. Blizzard conditions are possible in parts of eastern North Carolina and southeast Virginia, while coastal wind gusts could approach 70 mph.

Behind the storm, brutal Arctic air will settle into the region. Forecasters warn the prolonged cold could be dangerous, especially if power outages occur. Similar cold earlier this month proved deadly in parts of the U.S.

As the storm approaches, Charlotte-area stores are scrambling to restock essentials like ice melt and shovels. Many retailers have not fully recovered from last weekend’s winter weather.

Governor Josh Stein has issued a new State of Emergency ahead of the storm. The move activates the State Emergency Response Team and ensures North Carolina can qualify for federal assistance if needed. Transportation crews continue pre-treating roads and preparing for hazardous conditions.

Emergency officials urge residents to closely monitor forecasts, charge devices, avoid unnecessary travel, and check on neighbors. They also warn against unsafe heating practices if power is lost.

If the snow does fall, forecasters say it could be one of Charlotte’s most impactful winter storms in decades.
