How to Choose Delta 8 THC Dabs — Tips for 2022

0

While cannabis is still illegal on the federal level, Delta 8 products are more widely available. They are derived from hemp, which was legalized under the 2018 Farm Bill. The market offers a plethora of products, from gummies to vape oils. Dabs are particularly potent due to high concentrations of the cannabinoid. However, they are not suitable for all users.

It is easy to purchase Delta 8 THC wax and have it delivered to your doorstep. These products are safer than Delta 9, which is why they are available in 31 states as of February 2022. One of the biggest advantages is that Delta 8 does not cause negative side effects like paranoia, mind racing, or rapid heartbeat. So, should you explore dabs?

What Makes Dabs Special?

These products include waxes, shatter, sauce, rosin, and other types. All of them contain more Delta 8 cannabinoids compared to standard oils. The extraction method includes a solvent that produces higher concentrations of the active ingredient.

Dabbing equipment melts and flash-vaporizes the concentrate. Users can experiment with various hardware. For example, to vape through a dab rig or dab straw, you need a titanium or quartz nail, a dab tool, and a butane torch.

Key Advantages

Dabs are recommended for advanced users who have already developed a tolerance for standard doses of Delta 8. Here are the top four benefits of waxes:

  • Hard Hitting

Some products contain up to 99% of the active ingredient. This guarantees highly potent effects.

  • Fast Acting, Long Lasting

Edibles like gummies do not bring an immediate effect as they first go through the digestive tract. Typically, users wait for 60-90 minutes. Through dabbing, Delta 8 will reach your cannabinoid receptors much faster. The physical and psychoactive effects peak in the first couple of minutes. They last for 1-5 hours on average.

  • Cost-Effective

Users seeking high concentrations of Delta 8 may save money by opting for high-dose dabs.

  • Therapeutic Benefits

Dabs are pure, highly concentrated doses of the Delta 8 compound. Although research is still limited, reports and studies suggest that it has neuroprotective properties, improves appetite, helps relieve nausea, pain, anxiety, and stress.

How to Choose Products

The two largest categories of products are waxes and shatter. Dab waxes are produced at low heat, so they have a strong hemp flavor. Butane is applied to the plant as a solvent and removed through vacuuming. Premium products are made of 92% distillate. Their biggest advantages are strong flavor, high potency, and user-friendly nature.

Shatter is a brittle amber-colored translucent substance. Thanks to higher heat during extraction and its longer duration, the concentration of Delta 8 is higher. Shatter is stronger than waxes, but neither type is advisable for beginners. In addition, pay attention to:

  • Product purity

Due to the specifics of the extraction method, it is impossible to achieve 100% purity. 95% is already ideal.

  • Freshness

On average, dabs have a shelf life of half a year. The older the product, the less flavor and potency it has.

  • Strain

Dabs are produced from different strains. You can find products with Sativa-like and Indica-like effects, along with hybrids.

  • Lab Reports

Delta 8 dabs must be thoroughly tested by independent laboratories. Before placing an order, look for this information on the supplier’s site. Honest providers have nothing to hide.

Word of Caution

Therefore, be careful with how much Delta 8 you are getting. Dabbing makes it relatively difficult to control the dosage. Unlike edibles, dab waxes do not come as pre-measured pieces.

SC Senate Signs New Bill That Outlaws The “Carolina Squat”

0

Less than 3 months after North Carolina officially outlawed the “Carolina Squat”, South Carolina is now following suit with a bill that just passed the SC Senate with a vote of 33-1.

According to SC Senate Bill 908:

“TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-4445 OF THE 1976 CODE, RELATING TO THE RESTRICTION OF ELEVATING OR LOWERING A MOTOR VEHICLE, TO PROHIBIT MOTOR VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS THAT RESULT IN THE MOTOR VEHICLE’S FRONT FENDER BEING RAISED FOUR OR MORE INCHES ABOVE THE HEIGHT OF THE REAR FENDER.”

If signed into law by the governor, there would be an initial $100 fine for first offenders, $200 fine for second offenders, and $300 for third, along with a one-year driver’s license suspension.

SC Senate members believe the vehicle modification makes ordinary headlights appear as high beams during normal driving conditions, endangering both oncoming motorists and pedestrians due to decreased visibility.

What do you think about the new bill?

Do you think squatted trucks should be outlawed?

How is CNC involved in the medical field?

0

CNC machines have been used to create medical products for quite some time. The detail needed to craft parts for medical use is very demanding, and very few CNC machines are equipped to handle the pressure of this type of work.

The first CNC machine was created in 1843, but it wasn’t until the 1960s that they became the go-to option for intricate tooling. The father of computerized numerical control (CNC), Jean-Jacques Haffner, patented the first CNC machine in 1961.

Medical CNC machines are powerful and fast, and they’re used to create parts such as supporting devices like crutches or braces. Life-saving pieces like implants for transplants (i.e., facial reconstruction implants) are also some of the many things these machines are responsible for making.

“CNC” stands for “computer numerical control”. A computer numerical control machine tool is one that is controlled by a computer, as opposed to a machine tool under manual or semi automatic control. This article will not only discuss the medical uses for CNC machines but also how they work.

CNC machines are used for a variety of reasons

CNC machines are now used to create many products for medical use. They can create complex shapes that would be nearly impossible with other manufacturing techniques.

Human Anatomy Modeling

Creating models to study the human body is an important task in medical education and research. CNC machines can be used to create models that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive or time-consuming without computer numerical control (CNC). These models help aid in teaching and aid in research and development.

Prosthetic Design and Development

CNC plays a role in prosthetic design, which is the creation of artificial limbs for people who have lost or injured their original limbs. The same technology that’s used to create models of human anatomy can also be used to create a 3D model of a person’s body, which is used as a blueprint for the new limb. CNC machines can then use this 3D model to create an artificial limb that fits that person perfectly.

Milling and 3D Printing

Using CNC machines in the medical field includes using them in a CNC milling machine to create prosthetics for humans. Other uses include creating mock-ups of organs or bodies for training purposes and testing prototypes.

Besides these uses, surgeons also use 3D printing technology to practice complex surgeries before doing so on human patients.

Implants

Medical implants are complicated pieces of equipment that need to be custom made using high precision. One process for creating prosthetics involves the digitizing of body scans, or taking pictures of a patient’s limb or organ that can be used to create an exact 3D replica in software. These replicas are then fed into the CNC milling machine, where the required parts are cut out. While this is a time-consuming process, it helps to reduce the cost of making a prosthetic device while ensuring a perfect fit.

The key components of a CNC machine

Spindle-Chuck Assembly

The spindle-chuck assembly consists of the machine’s cutting tools, as well as its input mechanism and any other hardware that transfers force from the drive system to those tools. Force is then exerted onto a workpiece or series of works, which are held by a clamping method, all of which is done according to a pre-programmed set of instructions.

Drive System

The drive system consists of motors that control the spindle and any other hardware that controls linear or rotational motion. All CNC machines have some type of drive system, whether it be a belt drive, a leadscrew/ball screw, a servo-drive, or a direct drive.

Control System

The control system consists of the electronics that monitor and regulate machine functions. This typically involves an embedded controller of some sort—a dedicated microcontroller or computer—as well as input/output devices such as a touch screen interface.

Work Cell

The work cell refers to the complete system of all hardware associated with a given CNC machine. This includes all motors, feed devices (such as spindles), control electronics, and tooling.

Conclusion

CNC machines offer a great deal of power and accuracy to the medical device industry. The diversity of medical products and parts manufactured by them is a testament to this, literally making these machines ‘life savers’. Their use in the medical field will continue to grow as new applications are discovered, and it is up to designers to ensure that their products are safe, conform to medical standards, and can be efficiently manufactured on CNC machines.

Charlotte’s Brave Step Launches “Changemaker” Program To Help Prevent Sexual Violence

0

Leaders of Brave Step, a Charlotte-based nonprofit that empowers individuals who have been impacted by sexual violence, recently launched a new program entitled Changemaker. The Changemaker program gives participants the tools they need to support one another and help prevent future sexual violence.

Sexual violence impacts everyone. Studies show that one in four women and one in six men are sexually abused by the age of 18.

According to the National Institutes of Health, an estimated 27 million childhood sexual abuse survivors live in the United States. When factoring in that an act of sexual assault occurs at an alarming rate of every 73 seconds, according to RAINN, this country has a mental health crisis on its hands.

“With Sexual Assault Awareness Month only a day away, the launch of Changemaker is a great opportunity for our entire community to take a brave step closer to this issue that affects each and every one of us,” said Caleb Holloway, Brave Step board president and ally to survivors. “We believe this program will inspire and empower adults to take action within their lives and shape a strong, supportive community.”

Created for survivors, loved ones, employers, community leaders and policy educators, Changemakers will access carefully vetted and trusted resources, receive goal setting support, participate in training sessions, and gain the education they need to take steps toward action.

Individuals also sign The Brave Pact, an agreement to “courageously recognize the prevalence of sexual violence, learn about its complexities and solutions, and take bold action.”

By empowering allies, Changemakers will begin to protect current and future generations; create more stabilized family environments; reinforce the workplace and community as a better place to work and live; and give adults a voice and truth to speak out about sexual violence.

“As Gandhi said, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world,’” said Dannielle Magno, Brave Step Changemaker. “As a mom of a young daughter, I want to help build a better world for her. In a world where nearly half of all women are abused or assaulted at some point in their lives, we must do better. This program allows me to learn what I need to know to build a safe foundation for her.”

Why You Should Have a Smoke Alarm In Your House

0

There are many uncertainties in life; nothing is guaranteed and like people will always say, no one knows tomorrow. People have been known to lose entire earnings, assets and even loved ones in a day just because, out of the blues, a misadventure occurs without warning and all is lost.

One major accident that can occur at homes at any time without warning or signs are fire outbreaks and these can be very devastating in its effects. However, beyond getting a fire insurance to protect you from losses in case of such an occurrence, it is better to take some preventive measures to prevent such an occurrence in the first place.

What Is a Smoke Alarm?

This is a device that is able to detect smoke and smoke signs. It is also called a smoke detector and its basic essence is that through its smoke detecting ability, fire outbreaks can be prevented or nipped on time. Well, talk about there being no smoke without fire. You can read more on this here.

In homes, there usually is an alarm system connected to these devices that will make quite audible warning sounds while in public or commercial buildings, they are connected to the fire alarm system. Generally, there are two different detecting methods that these devices might use which are; either optical detections also called the photoelectric method or the physical process also known as ionization.

Note that these two different types devices all function very effectively and it is only a matter of choice for the buyer. However, there are some detectors that use both methods

Note that ideally, you should have this device installed at every level of your house. The idea is to have it at every location in your house including the bedrooms, bathroom and the toilet so that in the case of an emergency, the smoke will be detected speedily.

Why You Need a Smoke Alarm System In Your Home

It Is Affordable

Most devices of this magnitude and importance are usually quite pricy and come at quite a cost. But this is not so with the smoke detector, as it is quite affordable (not necessarily cheap). Again, when you compare the benefits it offers and its price, you will definitely conclude that it is affordable.

Early Detection

The earlier the fire outbreak is detected, the earlier an adequate response can be given to it. It can also be the difference between surviving an incident or being a victim. You wouldn’t want to be in a position where most of your belongings get burnt before a response team gets to you. This device ensures early detection and of course, a faster response to the emergency.

Avoid Smoke Inhalation

During fire outbreaks, one thing that has continuously claimed victims is smoke inhalation. During fire outbreaks, many people who could have still escaped the fire outbreak usually fall victims because of the smoke they had inhaled. It is also a killer in its own right but with early detection, it can be efficiently handled.

24/7 Monitoring

A home with an alarm system is a secure home. This is because, as a home owner, you cannot monitor all that is happening in your house at once and again, you will have to sleep at some point. However, with this device, there is a 24/7 monitoring of all happenings in your house whether you are inside or outside the house and even when you are asleep, you are still safe.

Insurance Discounts

There are various ways through which you can pass the message that you are a responsible home owner. Having this device is part of the ways to do this as it shows that you are doing your utmost to keep your house safe and secure and it will surely earn you some insurance discounts. You can find out more on why it is important to have a smoke alarm in your home as you go about trying to get one.

Maintaining Your Smoke Alarm

It is one thing to have a device or gadget and another thing to properly maintain it. it is very important that one maintains the smoke detector devices in the home as this determines how well and how long this device will serve you. It will be a very sad scenario to suffer a preventable damage or loss all because of a smoke alarm that failed to function appropriately. The following are some maintenance tips to follow:

Test Them

It is recommended that the detectors be tested once every month. This is to ensure that the batteries are functioning and are in good shape. To do this, press the test button and hold it till you hear a beep. That is your confirmation that it is in good shape.

Change The Batteries

This device runs on batteries and, as it is the case with anything that runs on batteries, the batteries have to be changed. The battery is located at the battery compartment, locate it, open and change the battery. This is to be done once a year.

Clean The Alarm

It is also important that these devices be cleaned up as failure to do this can affect the efficiency of the alarm. This can lead to a situation where its sensors are no longer picking up smoke signals effectively or a situation where the alarms are false alarms. This should be done every six months.

Get a New One

Ultimately, you would have to change the smoke alarm system in your home at some point. Firstly, if it is examined and it turns out that it is no longer functioning well due to any reason, you can simply go get a new one. However, smoke detectors expire after ten years therefore, if your device is up to ten years then it is time to change it. Do not assume that it is still functioning effectively and keep it as a result; no! go and change it.

Conclusion

It is said that home is where the heart is. Part of the reason why this is said is because, for many people, the real treasures of their lives is at home. For this reason, it is part of the human nature to want what is best for the home, for where our heart is.

But then, nothing is really given and this is why every precaution should be taken to ensure that what we have is well protected. Fire outbreaks are one of those things that can totally devastate someone’s property down to the last. This is why it is important that you get a smoke alarm in your home.
