Panthers’ legendary receiver Steve Smith Sr. is about to be inducted into the NC Sports Hall of Fame alongside Dale Earnhardt Jr., Michael Jordan, Roy Williams, and Charlie “Choo Choo” Justice.

His career statistics are ridiculous: 14,731 receiving yards, 1,031 receptions, and 89 total touchdowns.

Smith, arguably one of the greatest receivers in the history of the NFL, is already a member of the Panthers’ Hall of Honor, a three-time Pro Football Hall of Fame semifinalist, a five-time Pro Bowl selection, and a three-time All-Pro. Known for his explosive start, including a touchdown from the opening kickoff in his rookie season, Smith emerged from a third-round pick to become “the greatest player to ever step onto the Bank of America Stadium field”.

The 60th annual North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame Induction Celebration, honoring Smith and his fellow inductees, is scheduled for Friday, May 10, at the Charlotte Convention Center, starting at 5 p.m. EST.
