NC Governor Roy Cooper Orders All Public Schools To Remain Closed Until May 15th

With today’s confirmed count of COVID-19 cases rising to 339 in North Carolina, Governor Cooper has just signed a new executive order to keep all public schools in our state closed until May 15th of this year.

The new order also forces most entertainment and service industry businesses to close for the foreseeable future to limit the spread of COVID-19.

“The executive order that I am signing today takes other steps to slow the spread. It lowers the threshold to ban mass gatherings of more than 50 people. Along those lines, this order closes gyms, movie theaters, sweepstakes parlors, health clubs, and other similar facilities. We want you to close as soon as possible and the order takes effect this Wednesday. Because of their inability to conduct social distancing, this order also closes; hair and nail salons, barber shops, and massage therapists as of 5pm this Wednesday. Grocery stores will remain open, as well as restaurants that provide takeout.”

Today’s decision will leave more than 50 million students out of class for the next 2 months.

What do you think about the decision?
