North Carolina’s own Tyler Moore has become one of the youngest licensed pilots in the United States.
After 10 months of training at Cape Fear Aviation at Gray’s Creek Airport, Tyler earned his private pilot license, making him one of the first 17-year-olds in history to achieve this milestone.

Federal regulations require pilots to be at least 17 years old to be licensed. Upon reaching that age, Tyler took and passed the flight test administered by a Federal Aviation Administration Pilot Examiner.
Tyler, who is also a junior at Northwood Temple Academy and plays basketball, traded the court for the runway when he asked his parents to support his aviation dreams last year. He now holds his pilot license from Cape Fear Aviation Flight Training.
Looking ahead, Tyler plans to attend the Air Force Academy and pursue a career as a commercial airline pilot.
