TIAA Moving Their Banking Headquarters From Florida To Charlotte

Fortune 100 financial giant TIAA has announced plans to relocate the headquarters of their trust business from Jacksonville to Charlotte after the upcoming sale of TIAA Bank.

According to a new filing with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the headquarter move of TIAA Trust was approved last month. It will specifically be moving to TIAA’s Charlotte massive corporate campus at 8500 Andrew Carnegie Blvd in University City.

This move arrives on the heels of TIAA Bank’s parent company’s agreement last November to sell the Jacksonville-based bank to a consortium of five private equity funds. The deal, awaiting regulatory approvals, is expected to be finalized later this year.

TIAA stands as one of Charlotte’s major employers, with a team of approximately 4,900 members as of July last year. It currently operates 2 corporate campuses in Charlotte, a 1+ million sq ft campus in University City and a smaller campus in South Park off Toringdon Way.

What do you think about the new headquarters coming to Charlotte?
