The oldest living person in America is about to celebrate her 116th birthday right here in the Queen City.

Hester Ford was born on August 15, 1904, in Lancaster, South Carolina and moved to Charlotte in 1953 where she began working as a nanny for 2 Myers Park families.

She currently has 12 children, 48 grandchildren, 108 great-grandchildren, and at least 120 great-great-grandchildren.

Two of her grandchildren are now planning to host a massive drive-thru birthday celebration this weekend.

Last year, Ford became the oldest living person in America after the tragic passing of New York City’s Alelia Murphy. She is just 2 years younger than the oldest person in the world, Japan’s Kane Tanaka, according to the Gerontology Research Group.

Happy birthday Hester Ford!!
