New Movie Being Shot in Indian Land, SC Is Looking For Extras

The producers who brought you War Room and Jimmy are now filming in Indian Land, SC

They will be filming tomorrow in Indian Land, SC and they still need to find 10 more background actors.

All extras appearing on film will be paid $50, in addition to being featured in the ending credits.

The movie is a family-friendly film called Savannah Sunrise.

Call time is 11:30 am tomorrow morning (3/22)

They are specifically looking for male & female business professionals ages 18 & up.

Duke May Now Have The Most Hated Player in College Basketball

What is With Duke’s Grayson Allen?

Growing up in North Carolina all my life, I’ve learned that there are two types of people: Duke fans, and people who can’t stand Duke.

I happen to be the latter. Christian Laettner seems to be the name that comes to mind whenever most people think of the most-hated Duke players. His pretty-boy look combined with his pompous attitude easily made Laettner one of the most hated players in college basketball history.

But there’s a new player on the scene that is starting his own bandwagon full of hate: Grayson Allen.

Allen’s bio on Duke’s athletics page states that he is “an energetic and physical player”, but what they left out is that he’s also invented his own form of defense. Just watch the videos below and you’ll understand what I’m saying.

Those videos are from Duke’s Saturday win over Yale, sending them to the Sweet Sixteen. But it’s not the first time Allen has been caught tripping opponents. In late February, he was caught tripping Florida State guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes.

A few weeks before that, he was seen tripping a Louisville player. This time, Allen was hit with a flagrant foul.

Is the Duke guard guilty of tripping players on purpose?

In my opinion, basketball is a physical sport, but three four tripping incidents all in a month period is no coincidence.

Thousands of Charlotteans and visitors lined both sides of Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte to watch the 20th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival today.

This year’s celebration was truly inspirational when you consider that Charlotte’s first parade in 1996 consisted of just a small group of people with 1 bagpiper walking down Tryon St.

PayPal Building New Global Operations Center In Charlotte

PayPal is now planning to build a new $3.6 million Global Operations Center in Charlotte, initially creating at least 400 new jobs for our region, according to yesterday’s press conference with Governor McCrory.

“North Carolina is the ideal destination for innovation-based, worldwide companies like PayPal. Today’s announcement means that we can add another prominent name to the state’s growing list of technology businesses with major operations here,” McCrory remarked.

The San Jose company wants to finish construction on their new University City complex by the end of 2017.

“We are excited and eager to join the Charlotte business community,” PayPal’s VP of Global Operations commented.

Starting this year, they will start hiring at least 400 jobs primarily in the fields of customer service, risk operations, engineering and technology.

The new facility will equal a payroll impact of over $20 million per year for the Greater Charlotte region.

Wells Fargo Buying $30 Billion From GE and Adding 3,000+ Employees in Charlotte

Wells Fargo just announced that they are about to purchase over $30 billion in assets from GE and add over 3,000 positions to their financial services division.

The sale includes many of General Electric’s commercial-distribution, vendor, and corporate finance units from their capital division.

Over the past year, GE has been working to completely exit its financial services arm, after investors continued to complain about the risk associated with a giant lending business.

Before the purchase, Wells Fargo had $1.7 trillion in assets, the fourth-most of U.S. banks, and the most employees of any US bank. Their largest hub for employees is currently in Charlotte – the primary destination for most of the new positions from GE.

Charlotte’s New Bathroom Bill Comes Under Fire By Sexual Assault Victim in Uptown This Afternoon

This afternoon in Uptown Charlotte, over one hundred local mothers, business owners, community leaders, students, and victims of sexual assault assembled for a press conference in front of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Complex Building to urge Governor Pat McCrory and the General Assembly to call for a Special Session to overturn Charlotte’s new bathroom ordinance.

Charlotte resident Eliana Smith, former victim of sexual assault, shared today,“Over the past several weeks after Charlotte passed their harmful bathroom ordinance, I have woken up with anxiety and fear that I may encounter a man in the bathroom, and just the thought of this sends chills over my body. Simply seeing a man in a place that is supposed to be a private and safe space inflicts incredible reminders of the emotional trauma I experienced as a young girl.”

The right to privacy is particularly important for women who have suffered sexual abuse and trauma. For these women, the mere presence of a male in what should be a private and safe space can trigger severe psychological and emotional harm. Women should not be forced to undress or shower in the presence of men. This violates their right to privacy.

On March 3rd, NC Speaker Tim Moore released a statement, “We believe it prudent to consider immediate action because the Charlotte City Council decided to make its ordinance effective prior to the convening of our short session. We understand that special sessions have a cost, but the North Carolina House is unwilling to put a price tag on public safety.”

Lt. Governor Dan Forest, the elected official with the constitutional power to call the North Carolina Senate back for a special session, has also come forward indicating his willingness to do so, as well as Senate Leader Phil Berger.

Million Dollar Yacht Stuck On Lake Norman Since Saturday – Massive Rescue Operation Now Underway

One of Lake Norman’s largest yachts, ironically named, ‘Shamrockin,’ recently got stuck on an incredibly shallow part of Lake Norman near Governor’s Island.

Rescue crews tried using a small crane to the salvage site today, but weren’t able to move it at all. They are now shipping in a massive 50-ton crane to the site as a last-ditch effort.

The momentous endeavor has now involved officers from Iredell County Sheriff’s Dept., Cornelius Police Dept. and NC Wildlife Resources to assist with the safety of spectators and the rescue crews.

The 50-ton crane is expected to be on site and ready to lift by mid-day this coming Saturday – it should a truly unique St. Patties day for the entire Governor Island region.

#1 Free Trees For Charlotteans

The ‘TreesCharlotte’ organization is celebrating an ‘end of season’ tree giveaway to educate people about how to properly care for trees, and to simply increase the amount of trees in the city.

The free event will take place on Saturday, March 19th, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

In order to receive a free tree, you need to show proof of residency, each household is eligible to receive up to 2 free trees. After a brief informational session, you’ll then be asked to complete and sign a Stewardship Pledge Form and declare your pledge to take care of the tree or trees.

Starting at 10am on March 19th, Charlotte will kick off it’s 20th annual St. Patties Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival. There will be tons of music, food, games, and kids activities. The King’s Kitchen recently received the 2015 Restaurant Neighbor Award from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for its unparalleled community impact. 3 Men Near Gastonia Arrested by FBI For Manufacturing Bombs

Three Gastonia area men were just arrested for attempting to make bombs in Belmont, NC.

This past weekend, the FBI raided a Belmont tattoo parlor and a Mount Holly home.

Yesterday, Eugene Litteral, Christopher Campbell, and Christopher James Barker were all charged with felony counts of possession of bomb making materials and conspiracy to obtain bomb making materials.

Undercover officers received tips that the trio was attempting to make live grenades from “dummy grenades” sold legally as military artifacts. The men believed that America was about to impose martial law, and they were getting ready to resist the feds with ‘lethal force’, according to investigators.

The group has also been stock-piling ammo, radios, Kevlar helmets, body armor, and balaclavas in preparation of what they thought was a coming civil war with the feds.
