Panthers Sign New Quarterback Matt Barkley


After what many are now considering to be Sam Darnold’s worst performance of his career, the Panthers have now decided to sign a new quarterback.

Yesterday, the Carolina Panthers announced they will be signing Matt Barkley from the Tennessee Titans. A press release about the acquisition notes that “the Panthers’ plans for the week at quarterback are up in the air, after Sam Darnold had an MRI on his right shoulder Monday”.

Barkley was first drafted was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 4th round of the 2013 NFL Draft and has since played for the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, and most recently, the Tennessee Titans. He has played in a total of 19 games and has thrown for a total of 2,699 yards with a 58.4% completion rating.

The QB’s nickname around the league is “Bitcoin Barkley” due to his heavy involvement in the cryptocurrency industry.
