No-Swim Advisory Issued For Lake Norman (again) After 200 Gallon Raw Sewage Discharge

Just 2 weeks after a no-swim advisory was issued due to 400 gallons of sewage being dumped into the lake, a new no-swim advisory is now in effect after 200 more gallons of raw sewage was released into the same cove.

According to a press release from Mecklenburg County:

“The “No Swimming” advisory was issued after an estimated 200 gallons of untreated sewage was discharged from a residence on Paradise Cove Court in Cornelius to a cove on Lake Norman. The discharge originated from a pipe damaged by a private contractor. The pipe has been repaired and the discharge discontinued. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services staff will monitor water quality in the area until conditions are deemed safe for human contact at which time the no swimming advisory will be lifted.”
