Gastonia Man Chases “Smash-and-Grab” Thieves Out of His Store With Gun

A dramatic scene unfolded yesterday afternoon in downtown Gastonia as 3 “smash-and-grab” thieves attempted to rob a family-owned jewelry store.

According to Gastonia police, just before 4 pm, 3 masked men stormed into Morris Jewelers (1301 E. Franklin Blvd) and started breaking glass cases. Store owner Michael Hennes was at his desk, quickly pulled his gun out, and chased the men outside of the store.

Yesterday, WSOC reporter Ken Lemon posted the surveillance camera footage on Facebook, showing the would be robbers being chanced out by the store owner:

The robbers got away in an unmarked vehicle. There is now an ongoing investigation to find the suspects.
